Ian Happ is NOT a valid auction as he was selected in the 8MiLB draft. I'm trying to figure out how to cancel the auction but I'm not sure there is a way to do so. If not, I'll perform a commissioner cut with no cap penalty once the auction is complete. All 8MiLB players are "non-rostered" so please check the google doc before adding a minor league player via in-season auction. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RH9YjlfnGYcoApr2V7oqUzxXJ7ZdR7b9BZHOPJYFVso/edit#gid=0

I've successfully ended the draft. You should now be able to add/drop players, propose/accept trades, and set your lineups page.
-
Ok. The admins should be able to help. I just figured if the draft was paused it might look like we were going to come back, so figured unpausing it might be the way to go. Hope they get back to you soon.
-
I haven't figured it out yet but I tried your suggestion last night and it didn't work. I'll try again though. I've also reached out to Ottoneu admins for their guidance
-
Commish. Did you figure out how to end the draft? I was thinking, all you might have to do is unpause the draft and let it go through the order without anyone putting a player up for bid, then it may just end itself.
-
Yeah, I know the basics behind roto leagues. I just find it silly that a hitter with multiple positions eligibility can play any position and his stats count, but a pitcher with multiple eligibility has restrictions. This is especially silly in a roto league since pitching stats are just thrown all together.
-
Outfield is different because they combine all 5 into one "position" with a maximum games played of 810.
-
No, dont think it applies to position players. But what does matter with position players is you can only have a maximum of 162 starts at any position during the season. If you platoon 2 guys, the total games played at that position cant be over 162 games. So, if you have one of the guys that typically plays every day, you shouldnt play someone in his position on a day his team doesnt play. That would take away one of the games your starter could play.

That makes no sense about the pitchers. Why have them eligible at both if you can only use them one way? Is that also true with hitters? If I decide to play Bryant at 1st am I only going to get points when he plays 1st?

One other item - you do not HAVE to have 2 starting catchers. They give you 2 slots because it is almost impossible to play the full 162 games allocated for catchers with just 1 catcher. You have to be careful you dont go over the 162 games at any position because once you do you no longer accumulate stats.
-
I dont know about filling out a roster, but I do know pitchers only accumulate stats when you have them in the role they are playing that day. In other words, if your SP/RP is in a reliever spot in your roster you dont get the stats if he actually starts the game. The opposite is also true. If you knew he was starting a game you would just move him to one of your starter slots.

we can try

It's just a guess based on how the rules read here https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules. I'm not certain that's the issue but we could draft someone to your team and see. If it isn't we can release them with not cap hit. It's just a hunch because your 3 SP/RP are all actually SPs.
-
Why would I need a true RP? If a player is RP eligible I should be able to fill that spot with that player.
-
Thomas I think you may need one more true RP, but everyone please check.
-
Everyone needs double check their roster and compare to Ottoneu's roster rules. I'm unable to end the draft and the only explanation seems to be that someone hasn't quite met their roster requirements. You should have major leaguers for 2 Cs, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 MI, 1 3B, 5 OF, and 1 UTIL for offense and 5 SP and 5 RP. Players that have SP/RP eligibility actually only count towards how they're used in real life, if i'm reading the rules correctly. I'm not certain so everyone check your team.

I'm planning to send an email soon with reminders/clarifications to help with draft prep for all owners, but keep the questions coming as you guys work to get ready.
-
All players affiliated with an organization at any level with or without MLB experience are available in the auction draft for the 40 man roster, but choose wisely as they count against the 40 man roster. For this reason, you may want to focus on players near the bigs like Julio Urias or Trea Turner were last year. The MILB will not be an auction. It will be a snake draft this year for the inaugural season and starting next year will be non-snake based on the prior year's standings.
-
I've got a couple draft questions regarding prospects. Can players who have not played a game in the big leagues be drafted onto a 40-man roster or are they strictly relegated to the 8 minor leaguers part of our roster? And the milb portion of the draft does not include an auction, correct?
-
Everyone, I was looking for draft resources and found is article that I thought was helpful as well as a good follow up to Thomas' previous questions. Please read if you're interested and please share other resources with the group. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/how-to-win-your-ottoneu-auction/
-
If a player, like Yoan Moncada, has major league experience, then he isn't eligible for the 8MILB draft. This link helps explain the reason for the separate minor league roster: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-101-the-5milb-structure/
Really good questions Thomas. Keep them coming!

1. For Rosters, review this link: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#rosters-overview. Starting lineup details specifically are the "E" bullet under the Rosters Overview section.
2. Regarding your minor leaguers question, you CAN draft minor leaguers in the auction draft and you should. However, be strategic about it as they will count against your active roster. 8MILB is mainly in place to cover players in the lower minors. Also,be sure to review 8MILB eligibility rules in our charte
