I am still grasping this OttoNeu format.
-
I concur with Burninators; if there is no collusion then a trade should be allowed if both owners truly want it made. My first reaction to the trade was due to my perception of Fantasy Leagues all being like the basic ESPN and Yahoo ones.
-
I think the trade makes perfect sense for both teams. If enough of you guys want to veto, that's fine, email me, but I personally don't see any problem with the trade. I really do not like vetoes unless there is obvious collusion, and I see no collusion.
-
so here's a breakdown of my thought process. I move the biggest contract to buy bats in the offseason, gain a top prospect (idc about ETA) and maybe, maybe, bid for han ram again this offseason
-
why would i not make that trade? the salary is a wash, considering there is no way i can win this year. I did shop Hanley around for a good two weeks to managers who would make an even deal, but it wasn't happening
-
Got the message and replied, way too long to post here. I do want to repeat that I have no problem with the trade and will not vote against it myself. Since the three teams are non-entities, they should have no effect on us.
-
(I've sent you a message over ottoneu, but it removed all the paragraphs. It's probably best just to use email.)
-
I don't think it's fair to assume anything about how the missing managers would've voted, especially when the set of rules we all agreed to define abstention as a 'yes' vote.
-
What definition of artificial are you using here? I didn't have an opinion on the Napoli/Suzuki trade, and my abstention favored the trade passage. If I don't check ottoneu for 48 hours, the same rule is applied.
-
i'm thinking that it is probably best to verify that the missing owners didn't cause the trade to pass artificially.
-
READ THIS: email me in the next 48 hours if you want to vote against the trade. If a majority of the active managers want it veto'd, ottoneu will facilitate.
-
ottoneu will give away the teams if we find replacements. They'll look for replacements as well, but if you know anyone, let's get them in!
-
I emailed them, will let you know what I hear back. If you want, I can write a trade veto tool for us, if we can't do anything about the dead teams. I can manually undo trades if a veto passes.
-
Either way, I agree that the three empty spots do mess with the veto dynamics. Trip, any response from Ottoneu on this? Maybe they could offer a free year to someone picking up a team mid-stream.
-
I was a little surprised that Cubs Fan didn't shop Hanley around a little bit, but it's not like Hanley has had a great start and maybe he was worried that an extended slump would depress his value.
-
And Baseball America has Machado's ETA as 2013. If you look at what most SS went for this year, locking down a high ceiling SS w/ a low salary is a decent move.
-
Cub Fan's building for the future, so extra salary this year doesn't mean anything to him.
-
i just didn't understand why you would make that trade Cub's Fan...? Machado for Hanley? without receving cash even? Machado is 3 years away at best.
-
I third this sentiment. Would we have needed 7 votes to veto even though three aren't present? Therefore 7/9 would have needed to?
-
i agree with Expos, it was just plain ridiculous.
-
the majority of owners didnt think so
-
The Hanley Trade was Absurd.
-
The Unfortunate Cubs Fan's trading block has been updated!
-
Read back through the messages from the last several days. There's already been some discussion on this.
-
"Milk and Cheese" drafted 3 players (Pujols, Carlos Gonzalez and Kelly Johnson) and then quit the draft. Could these players be put into free agency. I ask, now, because I am currently in last place and would have the first pick (s) .
-
it does, although you can set future lineups ahead of time.
-
If someone is away on vacation, does the same lineup just keep repeating itself?
-
There was a issue with the lineups where you were requested to submit lineups again to avoid. They...may be retroactively adding those stats. Not entirely sure of this though
-
why did i not get credit for yesterday's statistics??
-
support sent me a message telling me to tell you guys to go reset your lineups today. Some glitch in their system. Check your email for details.
-
I don't see how anyone would want to replace these teams now...their team would be atrocious.
-
My vote is for replacements and I am willing to build a team from the wire, if any new owner insists on a full roster.
-
my vote is to find a replacement
-
Both are solid options
-
Both are solid options
-
I'd already asked ottoneu to freeze their rosters(no response yet). I can ask if they could try and hook us up with replacements. Doesn't matter to me whether we get new blood now or next offseason as neither is really ideal. Any preference?
-
Sorry, I really see no justification releasing his players back out unless that was a pre-determined and agreed to practice. Which it wasn't. It is unfortunate he took 3 top players and fizzled out.
-
As for voting them off the island, they missed the initial draft and haven't shown up since. Replacements are the obvious answer.
-
Not much to add, except that I agree completely with Burninators and Nightman on locking their rosters. M+C's players will be back in the free agent pool next offseason, just like they would be if he were to quit after the first year.
-
To arbitrarily removed players from a drafted lineup and reinsert them into the league post-draft would screw the integrity of our league. The question is not do we modify his roster. The question is do we vote him off the island and find a replacement.
-
Am I understanding correctly that you drafted on the assumption that the owner would never return and that we'd elect to change the league rules and return his players to the pool and you'd get them on the cheap?
-
I'm having a hard time with your logic. If we just let the game run its course and found a replacement owner either now or in the offseason, those players would not be thrown back in the player pool any more than the players on your team would be.
-
We are going to have throw them back at some point - it is just a matter of when. I would give up my entire roster if it means adding 3 more owners.
-
As one of the 2 guys - one who purposely made sure he most the money left - I think it is unfair to 'freeze them' simply because others did not share my foresight. That said, if someone can make a compelling case ...
-
i say freeze him...if you cut his players, it would set off a dramatic shift in competition, since theres two guys who could get them...cargo or pujols could conceivably go for ~$30
-
haha, shit. Milk and Cheese has Pujols and Car-Go for god's sake. haha
-
yeah, we can't have his 3 players back out. just freeze them if you can.
-
If anybody ever wants to trade, email me. I really, really like trading. I don't expect to be very active right away though, unless injuries shake up my roster.
-
I'd like to just freeze their rosters until next offseason. Then we find replacement managers. I'd rather not see Milk's guys back in the player pool this year. What's everybody think?
-
What are we doing about the teams that didn't draft? Milk and cheesehas 3 players, what do we do about him?
