Six vetoed, three no votes, three approved. Two of those approved were probably involved in the trade. The biggest flaw in Ottoneu. Why in the world should the trading parties votes count. Majority of league six votes vetoed this trade. That's how it should be. I'm not in the hunt, so won't affect me. But I just hate to see situations where another owner trying to play honest and fairly, and has no way to overcome a gift handed to the competitor.

Hot Mess's trade block has been updated!

I have reached out to both parties and am satisfied that they are acting in good faith. Veto the trade if you do not like it. But please act like adults--which I assume you all are--and please stop the ad hominem attacks on the message boards. This dead horse cannot be beaten any longer.
-
I got ripped off in trade when I started playing Ottoneu. And someone told me I'd be a lot better off if I shopped around. And I moved on and now I try to shop around.
-
Peavy-- you're the one who got ripped off. I'm sorry, but ABS is only defending you because you were an easy target and he wants the trade to go through.
-
I don't buy the ethics argument by Peavy either. What's 'ethical' is for him to pursue the best possible deal to his team, not to suck up to the owner who previously made a trade with that got vetoed.
-
It sure would be nice and a lot more fun if there was just some good honest competition around. This getting a stud for a unproven prospect sucks. You need more unproven prospects to be worthy of gaining/trading a proven top MVP pitcher. There's a reason why the salary gap between these players is huge. I understand playing for the future with prospects, but when doing that and trading a Kershaw type player, you need multiple prospects. Many prospects don't pan out.
-
Put Manaea in there and that would make it more respectable. Or how bout, see what other offers are out there too. The trade getting vetoed has nothing to do with ethical. Your job as an owner in this league is to be competitive by attempting to get the best possible return you can get. Your not trying to do this, which seems very odd to me that you wouldn't entertain what's out there.
-
Poof- I do not know Peavy and there is nothing fishy going on. He likes Rosario, I like Kershaw it's that simple.
-
Horrible trade again. All owners, please vote again what you feel about the new trade. I guess these two owners are determined to make some sort of lopsided trade. I'm beginning to suspect something fishy going on. Maybe you guys know each other or something. Seems like a hookup. You don't give up Kershaw for that small of a return. Your not being very competitive or fair to the rest of the league if you do.
-
This trade looks weak now, and it will continue to look weak unless Rosario becomes a perennial 5 win player. Which is possible, but very very unlikely. Why not see if someone else can give you a prospect of a similar caliber and a couple young big leaguers? You'll never know what interest is out there until you ask around.
-
We're talking about a well priced Clayton Kershaw here. Rosario is an ok prospect but he's just a prospect and the hit rate on prospects is very low.
-
The point is not that there "should be a rule that every player has to make it onto the trade block before anyone trades him". The point is that this is a terrible trade and that it's in Peavy's own interest to shop around.
-
So if Rosario gets Kershaw, what would Lindor or Seager fetch-the '27 Yankees? Veto.
-
I am in desperate need of a good outfielder. Trout and Keirmier both being broken. If anyone has a comparable guy they are willing to trade, hit me up.
-
Going to weigh in. I play in 3 other leagues. All of those--and this one--it is rare for trade blocks to be updated. Most trades are made by private messages like "hey, what do you want for player x?" We can make a rule that no player can be traded unless offered to the whole league. But that seems very restrictive. Peavy is not new to this league. I also would have wanted Kershaw and kicked myself for not being more proactive. That said, voting is there for a reason and that is the fi

Hot Mess's trade block has been updated!
-
I don't feel like I really need to explain my trades to the league. I pretty much feel I should be allowed to run my team as I wish. As for opening up Kershaw or any of the others in the trade to the trading block... I don't think it's entirely ethical to trade them to others after they voted the trade I agreed to down.
-
It seems as if you're trying to save face, and it's stupid, because you're being grossly taken advantage of.
-
Peavy, I'm baffled that you wouldn't put Kershaw on your trade block or wait for other offers.
-
Kershaw for Rosario is an absurd steal, especially with the loan.
-
I'm vetoing this trade too.
-
Vom Squad's trade block has been updated!
-
I sure can't lighten up much more than I currently am. My team is terrible. I will continue to compete though. and if/when I start to play for next year, I'll try to make sure I compete by trying to get the maximum return I can get if I trade a Kershaw type player. Hell, I don't have one though. I can't keep my team off the 10 day DL. Trades should sting for both owners involved. That's when you know we got good competition.
-
I hope that all owners will never listen to the lighten up, it's a $10 league mess. That mindset would make this league not fun at all. Being competitive keeps it fun. Competing with other good competitive owners should be the main thing anyone should want playing this format. Otherwise, why would you ever sign up. It's not a money thing. It's about good fair competition, with a group of baseball fans trying their best and may the best owner win for fun.
-
Thanks to all owners for voting. Very impressed with this group of owners and the way everyone remains active. I think the votes are important to keep fair balance in the league. It helps that owners can see votes whether the trade is vetoed or allowed(either way). Helps to keep the league strong.
-
That is a horrible trade. Al least three keepers Kershaw side for some barely average players on the other.
-
Especially when his name is Clayton Kershaw.
-
Quick veto for me. $60 Kershaw was not on the tradeblock. I'd considered making an offer for him over the past few weeks. If I was aware he'd been available I would've fielded a competitive offer if not multiple possiblities. At the very least all that must be done differently is to make it known you're considering selling X player.
-
This is manifestly a bad trade-- please shop around next time.
-
ABS- it doesn't really seem like you're open to any suggestion that this is less than a fair deal but here's my take. If it was Kershaw for every other player involved in the deal, it'd be more fair. I'm not exaggerating at all. This is theft. Give me one example of Kershaw being traded with more players than are coming back not named Trout. Convince me this is within the norm.
-
Oh and Poof- lighten up. This is fantasy baseball, it's supposed to be fun. This is a $10 league. I know your team is hopelessly out of it already but you probably have more productive things to do than argue about a fantasy baseball trade that you aren't even involved in. Sadly I don't have anything better to do. Which is why this is like message 10 of the night for me...
-
And again I'll reiterate- go to the Ottoneu trade thread and check out some of the other trades that get accepted. This one is well within the norm of what happens in these leagues all the time. But I guess you missed that part of my previous message (9:16 PM if you don't believe me).
-
I try to. Not that I know everyone. And I haven't bothered to look at your team because it's so bad.
-
1) I'm pretty sure my job would be to defend my half of the trade. Peavy is an adult (I assume, I've never met him before) and can defend himself if he sees fit.
2) Perhaps you are worse at reading comprehension than fantasy baseball. I never said I know every player on the block in this league. I said " I try to stay in touch with as many owners as often as I can so I know who is on the market at all times." I did say in my primary league I know every on the block but in this leag
-
I'm delighted to know that I get to be a part of 2017's version of the annual trade that pisses people off.
-
Again, all this chatter from the guy receiving the gifts. You keep deflecting and not explaining where the player(s) you sent that are worthy of Kershaw alone. I didn't have that crystal ball you have to know every player that gets traded. Anybody on here know Kershaw could be had for nothing? Your comments make no sense. You don't know every player that is available. Who's available on my team then? Stop trying to deflect so your trade makes it. You know this is a crap deal. Get real
-
I'm just requesting all owners, please place a vote on this trade. Not telling you how to vote, just asking you to vote. We have a very active and good group in this league. It's awesome that we have owners that sign on daily. Just vote and then we can have fairness for the owners it does affect.
-
And if another team made this trade I'd be upset that I hadn't been active enough to know Kershaw was on the block. I try to stay in touch with as many owners as often as I can so I know who is on the market at all times. That way I have a chance to match or beat any offer. In my primary league I know every trade that is accepted before it's accepted and am never surprised by any deal because I know everyone who is being offered around.
-
Poof- Maybe you should spend more time trying to improve your team and less worrying about a deal that is well within the norm in Ottoneu leagues. Take a look at the accepted trades that occur on a regular basis and you'll see deals that occur like this all the time. As for your statement that June is to early to sell that just ridiculous. I can tell you with 100% certainty that you have no chance to win this league. None. You should have been looking to sell a month ago.
-
And I have no problem with the concept of trading high priced players for keepers. I am asking to justify where that balance is at in this trade. Name me the player(s) that is worthy of Kershaw in this deal. You sure can't justify the rest of the package. It's not worthy of Kershaw by him self. ABS- your welcome to tell me where you justify it too. Explain the balance to me.
-
And says the guy receiving the gifts for nothing. You think about how you would view this deal if Vom Squad was on your end of the trade. I am sure you would be singing a different tune. I just hope all owners will actually vote in a fair manner and see where it goes with all owners participating in the vote. At least give the league that.
-
ABS-you're getting just as many keepers as the other guy. Maybe more.
-
Absolutely it is. First it's early June. Way too early in the season for that. Next. how bout entertain some offers before you sell the top pitcher and a top player in the game(much less the rest of the really good players in the package). Let somebody know your shopping him first. And lastly, when you are giving up Kershaw(much less the rest of the package), get something worth a darn in return. That's a horrible return for Kershaw alone(much less the rest of the package). It's June!
-
Isn't one of the points of Ottoneu to be able to trade overpriced non-keeper veterans for cheaper/younger players when you are out of contention?
-
Thanks for speaking up Poof. It really is a ridiculously one sided deal. Vote No on Kershaw-Rosario!
-
My team is awful, so doesn't affect me much at all. But if I am Vom Squad or another team gunning for the top spot, I would be pissed if this trade makes it through. Sadly, no trades get vetoed in Ottoneu . This is the biggest flaw or problem I have with Ottoneu. Gifts for nothing in return. Not cool man! Sorry Vom Squad, as a Commish, I don't have power to fix. Hopefully the rest of the league will do the right thing and vote something.
-
Okay Peavy, I would like a little justification as to why you are making that trade. That is a very small return for Kershaw alone, much less the rest of the package. While I am trying to be very open to peoples trades, this one doesn't cut the mustard. Sadly, I am requesting owners take a look at this trade and vote to veto it or allow it. Would be greatly appreciated, for the competitive balance of our league, if all owners would please place a vote on this trade.
-
Yep, that one is gonna leave a mark. Ouch!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge!!!
