Hi All, just a reminder to post here or send me a DM by Oct 15th to confirm whether you're continuing with the league this offseason/next year. Thanks!
-
Congrats to Slug-less. Great team and a great season. I fear that his future is bright as well. Be let's try to dethrone him ;)

Thanks guys! I’m glad Mondesi could stay healthy long enough to load me up on some steals. Looking forward to the offseason and next year!
-
Indeed - congrats to Slug-less! You really ran away with things in the final month. I'm already looking forward to arbitration, but first can everyone confirm whether you intend to participate again next year? Post here or send me a DM by Oct 15th. I really want to avoid another situation with a team that doesn't make any effort all or most of the season. This has been a really fun league and I don't want it to lose momentum.
-
Congrats to Slug-less for kicking our asses!

Dumpster Fire #2 would like to issue the following statement to supporters.
We understand that this is a difficult and emotional time for all supporters given the recent news regarding a potential takeover.
While the Club are working hard looking at other potential avenues with other interested parties, we would like to remind supporters that no one should gain access to inside the stadium (unless authorised).
We would like to urge supporters to remain patient and respectful for Club property.

In this league’s first year, 87.0 was good enough for first place. This year 4 teams are well above that mark with a month to go. It’s very competitive this year!
-
I contacted Fire and Dynasty. Fire will reply soon en hopefully Dynasty as well.

4 teams still in it with a month to go. This is awesome!

Trout on the move!

Circling back around on the inactive teams (Dynasty since Jun 29, Fire since May 4, and Bums since Jul 23). Since we have emailed, etc. can we go ahead and abandon these teams so we can have active owners for the offseason - and maybe even some of this season?

Agreed. This has been a great league to learn the ropes of Ottoneu in and would love to keep it going at full strength
-
I've sent Campo and Drew an email, and would like to give them a chance to respond before marking any team as abandoned; but yes, both have been inactive for some time.
-
Good plan Seattle. Would be a big plus to bring new owners for inactive teams and encourage higher activity from all.

Campo’s Dumpster hasn’t had any activity since May 4th. Can we abandon the team so if someone wants to claim it and do some trading they can before the deadline?

RIP Tyler Skaggs. Just 27 years old, so devastating for his family and teammates.

re: Vlad, I'm obviously hoping for big things since he's on my roster. It seems like every 3-4 years there is a really special cohort of prospects. This year with Robles, Alonso, Tatis, Paddock, Eloy, Vladito (and go ahead and throw in Acuna and Soto since they're only now reaching one year service time) feels like the year we got Correa, Lindor, Bryant, Syndergaard, Severino, Trea, etc. all at once (https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2015-debuts.shtml).

Vlad jr. is called up by Toronto. What do you guys expect from him? Looking forward to watching him play. I always like prospects coming up. As a Pirates fan I've really enjoyed the first couple of games of Cole Tucker. Guys like Tucker bring a fresh kinda energy to the team.. Unfortunately the injury bug has hit the Pirates hard, but where hanging in the there.

Caveat: If the roster is full, that is. If there's already an open spot on the roster, no need to drop before winning a player in auction.
-
No, the standard 30 day waiting period to re-bid on a dropped player applies. Making room for adds is part of this league's rules and other teams do abide by it. I cut Eric Thames and Welington Castillo on April 6 and 7. I then bid on auctions for Diego Castillo, Anthony Swarzak, Jon Duplantier, Max Fried, Tim Beckham, Frankie Montas, JD Davis, Vidal Brujan, Mitch Moreland, and Hector Neris before finally filling those empty roster spots on April 14 and 15. Dropping triggers eligibility to bid.
-
This was said before, but we really cannot be expected to cut players prior to knowing if we won an auction. What if someone picks up the player I cut and I lose the bid? Do I get my player back?
-
As per the league rule discussed below, the Freddy Galvis auction was won on an ineligible bid. Springfield Meltdowns did not have an open roster spot at the time of winning the auction. I'm re-setting the cut player to Springfield's roster and awarding Galvis to Drewville, who had the highest eligible bid and space on his roster.

Although the rule stated in Chapter I.c is very clear, it's in contradiction with V.d: "Teams are allowed to bid such that they would go over roster or cap limits if they win the auction. If they do win the auction, they will have to get under roster and cap limits before they can set their lineups, make trades, or bid on other auctions."
But since we have the rule already in place for two seasons I like to keep it that way for now. And maybe revisit it in the off-season.
-
In-season rule changes aren't great, but we can revisit the topic in the offseason if the majority wants to see change. Keep in mind however that this rule has been in place without issues the past two seasons, just be sure to free up a roster spot for the time being and I'm sure you guys will be fine too.
