I’m voting to veto this ridiculous one sided trade.

Works for me

I don't have much to do in the draft this year, so whatever y'all decide is good with me.

I can make that work.

Date and time works for me!
-
Second announcement, a little earlier than usual but while we have everyone’s attention: I am proposing the draft take place on Saturday 2/22 beginning at 5pm CT. Last year we came in around 3-4 hours. Anticipate the same time frame this year. We will be finishing the draft in one sitting. As always, I need confirmation from each member to lock the date in. Let’s wrap the confirmation time line in to the cut deadline. Make sure you let me know this date and time work no later than 1/31
-
Gentlemen, there is one week left to pay dues. For the few of us who have yet to do this, please make sure this gets taken care of soon.
-
Sorry folks--been overwhelmed at work lately! I will try to review messages/trades within the next few days, before deadline comes up (to the extent any are still open). For draft, any day but February 28 likely works for me.

For those wondering, No Names is paid through 2021. He may not be active at the moment, but it’s his team to do with as he sees fit. As long as he makes his necessary cuts before the deadline he’s good to go.
-
Has anyone heard from the No Names?
-
The weekend of 2/21 works for me.
-
Thank you for getting the conversation started guys. I’ll send out a suggested time and date once everyone has paid their dues and made their cuts. Just to get it in everyone’s mind now, it looks like we’re going to be targeting the weekend of 2/21. Speak up soon if this time doesn't Work for you.
-
Only days I'd be a no go would be Feb7-9 and Mar5-8. Last year we only had 186 players auctioned, I think we can get it done on a weekday or Sunday night. I'm an east coast guy, so preferably starting by 8pm is ideal.
-
I work every other weekend (starting again in February), but I don't have any major conflicts. My older daughter turns 2 on 3/23 so I'm less flexible the 21st and 22nd but can still probably work something out. I prefer later drafts, for what it's worth.

Hey everyone, I know we haven't discussed draft dates yet, but I'd like to start that conversation. I'm unavailable Feb 1-6 (out of country), Feb 15-16 (Ottoneu startup draft), Mar 6-8 (wedding), and Mar 13-15 (another draft). I know that doesn't leave a ton so hopefully we can make something work outside that, preferably in February. I get that not everyone knows their schedule, but I'd appreciate people taking an initial look. Thanks and I look forward to playing with everyone!
-
Hey guys. So I've been radio silent on y'all most of the off-season, and for that I apologize. I'm a department manager at the big box retailer with the bullseye on it and my wife and I just welcomed our second daughter into the world last week. Needless to say, it's been a busy couple months. I'm trying to play catch up and finish assessing my team and if you sent me offers, I'll start talking/countering here in the next couple days. Again, sorry for the delays!

Dues are also due on the 30th. Remember if you miss this deadline we have to assume you no longer wish to participate in the league and your team will be marked abandoned.
-
Quick reminder, the cut deadline (and trade deadline) is on January 31st. If you’re completing a trade and you intend to cut one of the players you’re receiving it needs to be processed before the deadline.
-
For those of you who are new to the league, the surplus calculator has been posted in the community page. It will provide rough estimates of player values. It is not the gospel, but it is another tool you can use.
-
And with that, we are in to the trading season. Update those trade blocks as we are now all open to making moves including cuts if you feel the need.
-
Just so everyone is aware, we will have one team that does not allocate funds since the team does not have an owner. Everyone else will be completed.
-
Arbitration is due tomorrow.
-
Guys, welcome SABRtooth to the league! With him joining us and completing arbitration we now have half the teams done with the process. Don’t forget the deadline is coming up fast. Make sure to get it done soon.
-
Still a lot of unassigned allocation dollars. Less than two weeks to go guys, don’t put it off!
-
Midway reminder, get those arbitration dollars allocated!
We also lost one of the new recruits so we have two spots open.
-
Just joined the league and looking forward to this upcoming year. New to ottoneu but huge baseball fan and looking for more in depth fantasy baseball platform. Big time yankee fan. Lets go Yanks
-
Happy Arbitration day! The arbitration period begins today and will end on November 14th. As a reminder it is important for everyone to participate to ensure a healthy league. We do still have two open teams so if you know anyone who may be interested send them over.
-
Welcome to the league The Syndicate and Bohm de Lux! Happy to have y’all.
-
Hey guys, just claimed Acuna Matata (now Syndicate)....thanks for the invite, looking forward to season...been playing Ottoneu since 2011, huge Braves fan, and very engaged owner. I promise to send many trade offers, and always reply promptly to messages and offers...good luck this season! -Branham
-
Partagas Pat officially has a new owner. Acuna Matata, Blind Squirrel, Don't Mauch Me and Odubel Dubel has been marked abandoned.
-
Just a heads up to everyone, Acuna Matata and Blind Squirrels have decided not to renew their teams for next year as well. I have one replacement currently choosing a team. Once he's made his choice, we will be marking the other 4 teams as abandoned and open to the public.
-
Please take the time to read my long winded email guys. Looking forward to the off season with everyone!
-
I know commish brought it up 2 weeks ago, but fully half this league (including the 3 dead teams) isn't projected to hit their minimum IP. Remember that if you don't make it to 1250, all your pitching stats go to 0. A couple of y'all are close so if that's you, clock is ticking.

I want to make sure we are all aware; we currently plan on replacing 3 teams (Don't Mauch Me, Odubel Dubel and Partagas Pat). If you know anyone who would like to take these teams over at the end of the season, pleases let me know. We will be taking a head count again once the year is over and we move in to arbitration. Please remember it is vital that everyone participate in the arbitration period to ensure a competitively priced players moving forward.
-
Guys, please make an effort to hit your minimum innings pitched thresholds

I veto-ed the trade, but I don't like using the veto button because I think it is mostly designed for matters of collusion which this doesn't seem to be. I really like the suggestion of a 24 hour window for counter-proposals when deals seem too lopsided (like this one) but not made out of collusive or malicious intent.
-
Even if the four parties who already said they would veto do indeed veto, we'd need both other owners who are active but didn't respond to the message board veto and either a non-active team to log in and veto or for Nuke to veto his own accepted trade to get to majority +1. The voting system is in place for this very reason, so it'll end up being approved, and rightfully so per the rules. But this trade would be laughed off in a league with full participation.
-
I don't think having a re-trade period would be a good idea. It would make a team put in & accept a low ball offer in the hopes that you'd have a bidding war start at the end of the trade period. Not to mention it would create a lot of bad blood in trading partners as you'll never know whether the trade will go through of if they'll take a new offer. Then would be the issue of both partners in the original trade would need to not agree to different trades- just seems like it's ripe for a
-
Finally, Cole has been on the trade block for at least a month, we've all had an opportunity to make an offer on him prior to this being accepted. We can discuss a rule in the off season that would allow for a 24 hour period for any owner to proposes a trade of their own when they believe a return is too light. It could provide a checks and balances system in the league so people don't perceive the return as too light in the future. If this is something we're interested in, speak up!
-
or if I plan to drop them prior to trading them (like Trout over the off season). With that said I make some good moves and some bad moves each season. Trades I like at the time quickly go bad, and this could easily be in that same boat. I would have kept three of those players I moved today with DK on the bubble. The only player I'll keep in this trade is Cole, who actually hurts in my HR/9 ratios. Because of that, I paired this trade with the Domingo for Ryu to even that stat out.
-
A couple thoughts here. First and foremost, I encourage everyone to vote on this. I really appreciate the discussion around the trade and if people don't want it go through, please feel free to veto it. This is all of ours league and we should all participate in it. Second, I really like to trade. I try to be as transparent as possible in my deals. I don't mind giving some insight in to how I view a player and if I initially plan to keep them before acquiring him...
-
Garrett Cole is an absolute stud in this format and that price is a great value. He should bring back a massive haul by himself!
-
I dont have a problem with the loan, that is why that feature is there so that these prospect for starter deals can go through. It is the lack of value coming back that is the problem. McCullers is coming of TJ surgery, Puk still hasnt proven himself, and Kuechel is just a middle of the road veteran starter at this point. Mize is the only real asset at this point. Something like Mize+Puk would be good for Kris Bryant, but then you have a $29 Garrett Cole in the deal?
-
Agree with everything Winkler said - well put. I'm not against the concept of prospects-for-stars type trades between non-contending and contending teams, but this one is too one-sided (in my opinion) when you factor in the massive loan plus the paltry return. As a counter-example, last year I traded the eventual league champ, Odubel Dubel, Justin Verlander and Nelson Cruz - but got back Conforto and Fernando Tatis as a return (with no loan either way). Much more even.
-
The league has the ability to veto via vote, so not much we can do besides that. If it goes through, then clearly the league feels differently that I do. But that is a MASSIVELY one sided deal in addition to the money that's being loaned.
-
I'm voting no as well. Not only for the amount of the loan, but the ridiculous lack of value coming back on that trade. How in the world does one of the top 3B and SP, both on market prices, go for what amounts to two prospects with injuries and Dallas freaking Keuchel? You could trade one of those players and make a reasonable case for getting that return, but trading both is outright league altering, plus the money with no additional assets coming back- money IS an asset.
-
I have to second what Nuke is saying. Trades like this help facilitate player turnover in the league. I do know there are a few Ottoneu leagues out there that prohibit or limit dollar amounts in trades and we can look to implement a rule like that for next year going forward if owners are interested.
-
I took stock of my team and concluded that I wasn't going to be able to contend this year. So I dealt expensive pieces that I may not have kept for a pitcher (Keuchel) who can absorb innings this year and 3 who can help me next year, when I have a solid inexpensive lineup that needs some pitching.
