Welcome to the league, Browns! For everyone, please make sure you complete arbitration. Deadline is next Wednesday. Thanks.
-
Hey all, thanks for having me. Good to get back in 5x5 after plenty of years mostly funning points teams. I'm open to all discussions on this roster as I try to settle into it and make it my own.
-
im in favor of dayett the races for commish. good luck in the real world david

I'll defer to those who've been in the league longer, so fine with me too.

Works for me as well
-
Ok by me
-
And following up from yesterday: if the league will have me, I'm happy to take over as Commissioner. I ran a league on ESPN for a dozen years, so I know the drill. I'd like to see this league continue to prosper and will do everything I can to make that a reality.
-
Welcome to the league, Curlin! You've inherited our two-time repeat champ...nice timing.
-
Hey everyone, I just took over the Princess Snowflake team. Looks like a solid roster, so thanks to the prior owner. Looks like I'll need to clear a lot of salary this offseason, so looking forward to making some trades!

Oh, say it ain't so. David, you'll definitely be missed. I may be able to take the Commissioner reins..let me give it a day's thought and report back tomorrow or Wednesday.
-
Happy to take over as commish if nobody else wants it. Sad to see you go Oakland, you did a great job

Hey all,
I am also going to have to give up my team which is hard for me to do because I love this league. I've tried to stay active the last several years but work is becoming more hectic by the month. I will stay on through arb but if any of you would want to take over as commish, let me know.
David

I am also out. It's been fun fellas. Good luck to all.

Haha, thanks for the kind words.

You’ll be missed, Ben. Thanks for kicking our asses these last two years.
If anyone else plans to leave, now would be a good time to tell us so we can find a replacement.
-
Hello all, I wanted to let you know that I let David know that I am not coming back due to time constraints and the new payment structure (there's too much rake being taken). So, I am going to ride off into the sunset like my favorite athlete, John Elway. My team is all good with arbitration. It was nice playing with you. Good luck in your future endeavors and maybe I will see you around.

NOW congrats are in order: to Princess Snowflake and Indios for dominating us all, and to Princess especially for the back-to-back titles! Great job, fellas! And hats off to all of us for another great season! I’m looking forward to arbitration and the offseason.

We are good as David does a great job as a Commish. Your attitude about this really makes it a pain in the ass to play with someone like you.

When did you take over as commissioner?
-
I like how it is not worth arguing when you are 100% in the wrong... You can move onto the offseason once your roster is legal really.

Not worth arguing about. Do what you want commish, I'm moving on to the off-season
-
you are trying to apply off season "rules", which disregard caps, to in season rules, which regard caps. just because niv hasn't written code that keeps your roster locked and illegal until you make cuts to make it legal before entering the off season rules, doesn't mean there isn't a known line that everyone else can see and is following.
-
Also, this one: b. If at any time during the season any team's cap room is not greater than or equal to 40 minus the number of players on that team's roster, you cannot field a team. In this circumstance, your team will be frozen until the issue is resolved. The owner will be forced to cut a player to resolve this issue, and will not be able to perform any other activities in the game.

You can't enter the offseason with an illegal lineup for exactly the reason Princess said.
-
c. At no time should a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.
if you don't want to follow along, we can just head to second sentence.
-
The only reason we have to say it is not cool to do it is because you are purposely breaking the rules. It's really no different than a team going over their cap on 9/1 and saying, "I am so far out of the race that I am just going to stay illegal because I don't care about setting lineups." It literally would not be even discussed if you were not $79 over the cap. Everyone else is following the rules, so why can't you?

You really should be forced to cut $158 in salary or lose Rizzo and Abreu from your roster before the offseason begins.

Actually, the $400 part does not apply here because we both worked in the rules to change our maximum salary to $314 for you and $578 for me. I am well under my max salary while you are way over it and, like Indios said, is flaunting that you are well over it because you are under $400. Well, that doesn't matter because you being over $314 means your roster is illegal. Literally, everyone else in the league has a legal roster but you. I may not care if it was a few bucks over, but it is $79.

Can you please show me in the rules where the repercussions of having an illegal roster and anything beyond not having the ability to set lineups or participate in auctions? If we’re proposing a rule change I’m happy to participate in the discussion, however I think you are setting a bad precedent suggesting we create new rules on the fly.
-
we aren't in the off season. your roster is illegal. it's even worse when you sit here and basically mock everyone by knowingly trying to ride it out. it isn't a mistake, or an oversight. you are active and chatting and trying to defend your wrong position. i'd be in favor of the commissioner having pity on you, and just cutting your last two additions, instead of forcing you to cut 160 in salary.
-
I tend to agree with Princess. Cosby, you raise a fair point in that you’re still at/under $400, but if we adopt that view - to what end? Surely one should not be able to sit above its salary cap for the whole last week of the season; by your logic, when does it become ok to bust the cap, and why that date and not another? The fairer and cleaner rule would appear to be as Princess proposes.
-
Are you going to cut down to under 400? I don’t mind getting down to 40 players(+60 man dl players) but there is no precedent for cutting under 400
-
Thank you, VLM!

It just means that everyone should be regular season legal, Byrd. If your team is legal today, you would be good.

Correct, there is no salary cap in the offseason, but that is due to not wanting to punish teams being legal going into the offseason when the yearly increase and arbitration will make them illegal. It is not so a team can be grossly over the cap before the end of the regular season. It really is not fair to the league as a whole to have one team completely circumventing the rules while everyone is not. It's not cool that everyone else cuts down, but you feel like you don't have to.

While we discuss offseason requirements do we want to discuss if we want to do the 50 dollar league moving. forward or move up to the next tier. there seem to be some people interested in going to the 100 dollar tier Congrats to the top 3!
-
Does that mean everyone has to be under 40 players(outside of 60-day DL spots) and under $400?

There is no salary cap in the offseason. And if you are referring to my team I am still under 400 in salary
-
agreed. going past limits just prior to the offseason and hoping to fly under the radar is in the fairest light against fair play ethics, and in worst light it is against the stated rules of the game.
-
Due to events going on now, I think there should be some consideration about making sure everyone is regular season legal by the time the offseason starts. I am in a couple of leagues where this is a requirement and I enjoy it because it keeps people from acquiring players that they normally would not be able to get. I understand if everyone does not want to do it for this season, but it probably should be done for next season so no one is almost $80 over the cap before the offseason. Thanks.

I'll pass as no one should have any interest in a 1B-only $53 Rizzo in this format. Thank you for the congratulations though.
