You sure talk a lot

So, this league is quickly becoming a joke... If this was a $10 league, I would probably just quit now. I'm not saying this out of jealousy at all because I was probably going to reject the offer I got for Kenley, but that is an incredibly light return for that package. But, unfortunately, this is standard fare for this league now.

I will be without reliable internet until Monday, if my roster goes illegal I will fix as soon as I am able. Good luck to all, open to offers if there’s anyone left that would interest you

THE St Louis Browns's trade block has been updated!
-
Nah the trade is fine. Feel free to make your moves.
-
Martes and Woodruff I started before I won Pivetta and Shoemaker, probably jumped the gun a bit it's only a buck.. Gore I hoped to get for 1-3$ but if I didn't I at least wanted to option to decide whether to keep or cut, knowing that he would likely get picked up quickly if I did cut. Figured I'd take a shot on trading him first then cut when I win my next auction. I tend to make a lot of moves, in case it wasn't obvious. Like I said, feel free to cancel the trade, I will just cut him
-
The trade is fine. Its a cap relief thing. Just wondering why when you bid $6 for him and won him for $6, you're unhappy with it. Same for Martes and Woodruff. You started all 3 of these auctions and won the players for the bid you placed and then immediately jettisoned them. Its weird.
-
You didn't take "a chance to get him cheaper". You got him at exactly the price you bid. And then you had a sudden change of heart - and inexplicably: (a) found someone willing to overpay for a guy that would probably have been cut; and (b) didn't demand a thing in return, except a free pass to escape your quick-developing buyer's remorse.
I'm not opposed to the concept of trading a player for nothing, for purposes of cap relief, but the timing of this particular deal is really bizarr
-
I don't really see an issue with this trade.

I took a chance to get him cheaper, and instead of cutting and waiting for him to get auctioned I moved him to another team who had interest. Not sure what the concern is but if it’s a problem for the league I can cut him instead.
-
Now we're literally giving players away for nothing? And players that were acquired within an hour before the trade, to boot? Sorry. I'm all in favor of letting owners run their teams as they see fit, but that makes absolutely no sense. Each side in a deal has to give something and get something. That isn't happening here with Gore.

Is this how Cosby Sweaters always rolls? At this rate, I'll be competitive in 2025. Where's my free handout?

I’ll let each owner make their own decision with regards to vetoing. Whatever result wins out will be honored.
-
The veto rules are standardized throughout ottoneu. I’ll refer you to the rules. This def wasn’t collusion. I was in the running to receive this combo as well. Albeit, with a better offer, and had I been available the last few hrs I would have hit accept. Two prospects who basically haven’t done anything in the majors for arguably the best two players in the league? Woof. I agree the trade is extremely ill advised but I’m not sure I see grounds to veto it if this is what Cosby wants.
-
Sure. Offseason, of course. I'm just disappointed that this season has been made 30% less enjoyable for me only hours after the excitement of the draft. This really sucks.
-
I wouldn’t be opposed to an in season salary cap. But that would probably have to be instituted in the offseason, no?
-
Look, I don't think vetoing this kind of trade is the right answer, but for the future there needs to be some sort of max on how many dollars can go over in a trade or a max on how much money a team can have for their roster. Otherwise, we end up with one team being the yankees and the rest of us being the padres.
-
One team just increased their budget by 30 percent this season over every other team. That is an extreme competitive advantage.
-
I care about the league as a whole. I told you that I wasn't trading for Trout and Kershaw anyway, so my veto isn't for jealously because, frankly, I don't care and didn't want to own them. When someone like Bang DeGrom Slowly thinks everyone is only playing for second now because of one trade, it is a league altering trade and maybe one that doesn't keep everyone active all season if they think they have no shot. That to me is a real problem if multiple owners of the league think that.

If it gets vetoed I’m fine, but trout and kershaw will get moved. I’m not trying to make it personal, and I’m sorry if it came off that way. I’ve enjoyed this league so far and I plan to stick around for a long tim.
-
First, we should be careful not to make this personal. This league has been amicable and fun for two years and we're all in it for the right reasons, so let's keep that in mind. Second, my general take on trades and vetoes is that as long as there's no collusion, then a trade is probably ok, even if (arguably) ill-advised. Third, as to this specific deal, I think it's a close call. Acuna and Torres are top prospects, but 2-for-2 for the best hitter and best pitcher in baseball feels thin.
-
What are the veto rules/recommendations? Is it for any trade we believe is unfair or only obvious collusion?
-
Open to offers on Harper, machado and Kenley if you’re trying to catch Indios.
-
That trade is shocking. Indios was just handed the season. Good luck to everyone else playing for second!
-
That's really an objectionable trade. That return is maybe good enough for Trout only...
