http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-power-rankings-may-2017/ Our leader is the #6 team in all of Otto 5x5 leagues
-
That's a little bleak US, kids should always take precedent over a silly fantasy game :-)
-
I was one of the guys who couldnt draft that day. The ottoneu draft is very very time consuming and I have an infant that needed attention that day. I am suffering the consequences now.
-
I don't want to be the annoying new guy who asks for all these changes bit think it's a discussion worth having

I mean it clearly kept prices down. A $15 Machado the year after he went 30-20 is a little crazy to me. A $3 Carlos Martinez after he puts up 184 k's with a 3.00 ERA. I think switching to the allocation system instead of the vote-off might help. When the top teams have multiple underpriced stars the vote off system only does so much. That being said, I think the prices are so low that allocating would take years to catch up. I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on this

Urban Shockers's trade block has been updated!

This is interesting, I didn't know that. I just joined the league in the offseason. Explains why my team was so crappy! Lol
-
i was a new owner a couple days before that draft. I was surprised when there were only 4-5 teams at the draft. It did help those teams and the missing owners mostly used free agents to finish rosters. I hardly think it was unfair since everyone could have participated. I was added to the commissioner role to help fix the dead tea issues and since midseason last year we have a much greater participation. We no longer allow managers to stay if the teams are not active.
-
In terms of an unfair advantage, I guess it depends on how you define "unfair"... the advantage was only gained by team managers showing up to the draft, a course of action open to everyone! The advantage gained was most obvious in 2016, when 3 of the 4 draft teams finished in the top 3: but that was (at least partially) also due to the fact that there were a bunch of abandoned teams.
I'm not sure what the remedy for the unfair situation is, other than getting more active teams, and
-
I think the 2016 draft was a typical Sophomore Slump: there were team managers that just gave up at some point between the first season ending and the draft. I think the league is in a much healthier place now, as there is way more trade activity, and activity in general.
-
I'm curious as to what happened in the 2016 draft when only 4 teams drafted players. It seems to have given those 4 teams an unfair advantage as all four of them are currently in the top half of the league standings.

Long Duc Wong's trade block has been updated!

Wouldn't hurt to get some trade blocks updated. We are getting at the point of the season when you should know if you can contend or start looking to make some moves to improve next years team.
-
Welcome Patrick to Long Duc Wong. Thanks for taking over for the inactive owner. Guys, I am sure he wants to work his roster some, so make him some good offers

My entire roster is open for a Fire Sale if anybody is interested in trading future value for present value. I would include loans to cover salaries. I am looking to rebuild a team that could be competitive in 2018.

Can we get some trading blocks updated? its a lot easier to start negotiations if people know what you are looking for and what you have as most available

Draft complete, great job guys, just over 2 hours
-
draft will begin promptly at the scheduled time. See you in 30 minutes.
-
The length of the auction depends on how many roster spots need filled. There are approximately 180 spots across 12 team so i would project 2 minutes per spot, of course it goes a lot faster at the end, and some managers fill spots quickly at the open of the auction and leave early which helps the draft go faster also.
-
If I remember rightly, our very first draft lasted about 6 hours, and last years was more like 2 and a half: though there were only 5 or 6 active players in that draft. I'm expecting this draft to last somewhere between those two times....
-
Hi Colonel, I don't think it'll be anywhere near that long. If I remember rightly, when a player gets nominated, there is an initial 30 seconds on a countdown timer: every time another bid is made, the timer resets to 15 seconds if it was below it. I think managers get either 30 seconds or 1 minute to nominate their next player. The Fangraphs 101 video shows the process, bidding starts about 13 minutes in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZxgR25aJaY
-
I meant hours
-
Question how long is each player who is being auctioned going to last? The reason I ask is my last draft each auction lasted 12 jours.
-
Aye, I'm looking forward to the draft. It'll be the first time I've drafted without copious pre-prepared spreadsheets, but I only have a few positions to fill and not much money so thought they would be overkill this year. I've caught a few spring training games, but they always lull me into a false sense of how good my team is going to be. I have to keep reminding myself that spring training stats don't matter!
-
looking forward to the draft as well -> probably going to end up watching more of the WBC than spring training. Season can't start soon enough
