re: pooping on the chessboard - I'm not sure where you wanted me to go when there no port-a-potties provided...
-
have had similar trades occur in my other league, but the main beef in those were a lack of knowledge that big names were available, big loans exist and that veto'ing was even allowed. I for one am of the argument that you let owners manage things how they see fit; it is their $50 now yours. I also acknowledge that as a league we all want a competitive environment where everyone is trying, but you can't micromanage how teams operate. tl;dr I won't be vetoing
-
In addition to thinking you should be more respectful of your league-mates, I also disagree with the premise of your argument. FWIW, as a contender, I would NOT have done the Ocho side of that deal. Vlad-fing-Jr?? I would not have been able to give him up for 2/3 of a season from Sherz/Nolan. Kudos to Ocho for being able to part with something like baby Vlad. It buys him the championship this year. Kudos to Max for setting up a baller foundation.
-
Confo, I think you're out of line here. Everyone should be able to manage their team the way they want to. If you think there is collusion, and one team is helping the other for a share of the winnings or whatever, THAT is a problem. This league gets complex with some people making decisions for the short, medium and long term. But that's also what makes it interesting. And I think it's pretty presumptive of you to assume that you know what's best for everyone else's team.
-
If the season ended today and all teams pitching points were extrapolated to The Fantasy Factory's 600.1 IP, El Ocho and Homer would be first and second respectively.
-
You clearly have no grasp of the basic value structure of the forma, so I'm not going to argue with an idiot. It's like playing chess with a pigeon; you'll knock over all the pieces, shit all over the board, and strut around like you won anyway.
-
"I wanted to trade Trout, Harper and Stanton for more than what you traded Scherzer and Arenado for. I'm going to quit the league because other people don't value my expensive players the same way I do." This is a competitive league, deal.
-
I;m quite smart, actually. Ok, so I traded a medicore starter (godley's been ass) and a prospect who hasn't done anything for a $49 Scherzer to start the season. I later trade an older Scherzer with more innings to his name at $51 next year for a guy who's been the single most elite hitter at his age and level in the last 50 years (see my previous link) and that's somehow objectionable?
-
Because there's no loan. How can you not grasp that difference?
-

-
BTW, just for the record - I acquired Scherzer in the offseason for Godley and Hiura, and no one said anything about that
-
You can directly edit the URL of the lineups page. For example: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/581/setlineups?team=4196&date=2017-09-30
-
Pumas - I don't think you can see your roster at a certain point in history, but if you click on standings, you can see the previous year's standings and if you can click on a particular players' page and see his trading history. e.g. if you look at Javier Baez' page and scroll down, you can see his history in this league, and if you click on "move" you can see the last time he was traded
-
Is there anyway to see my roster from last year?
-
I agree with Numb, not leaving league though. In my first full season and only team in Ottoneu, very frustrating to see that kind of trade.
-
I appreciate the backup. I was on the receiving end of the previously mentioned mazara/thor trade, but I've also been on the shit end of a trade in another Ottoneu league where I sent prospect Mookie Betts away for then ace David Price. In my view, that kind of uncertainty is the exact reason that vetoes are only exercised when there is collusion, not because someone personally would not do a trade.
-
That said this league has the voting option of trades, let’s put it to use. If league votes it “unfair” it will automatically not be allowed. I believe it just needs a majority of veto votes, so 7. Let’s put that voting tool to use on this and let the league democracy dictate. It was a 48 hour voting window from when it was accepted, so clocks ticking. 7 vetos are needed to disallow it, so abstaining is essentially a vote to allow the trade.
-
Honestly, I don’t have a huge problem with the trade. High price for highly touted prospects. It’s not nearly as offensive of a trade that the Sox made sending Tatis Jr for James Shields or we made sending Thor & Mazara for Joc/Miggy/Tanaka. I don’t know what I was thinking. It is a gamble that he might not stay in the money, but he got 3 easy building blocks for players on the fringes of being keepable. I have seen a lot worse, more offensive Otto trades.

That looks like a very high-class win-win trade to me. I don't know anyone who is selling Vlad Jr. for less than a Scherzer, Altuve, or equivalent. Both Vlad and Tatis Jr. are consensus top 5 prospects. Minor league pitchers are always a crap shoot, but Keller is a consensus top 20 prospect.
-
No 4-5 year rebuilds here. I picked up the abandoned team last year and still finished in the money last year and expecting to do so (or come close) again this year. (even if it were a 4-5 rebuild, wouldn't you appreciate having $50 worth of dead money every year?) Kudos to El Ocho for building such a good roster that I feel the need to play a long game. Also kudos to The Fantasy Factory and There's my Chippy for also being extremely strong teams who will still give El Ocho a run this year
-
Aight, I'm out. Been thinking about leaving since last year due to the lack of trade interactions as an active rebuilder, but this really seals it. If people are going to run around and make trades this lopsided then argue that they're actually good, there isn't any point. I'm not going to pump $50 into a league year after year so I can rebuild for 4-5 years by hoarding prospects.
-
It costs something to get something
-
So don't be mad that I usurped your hopes of acquiring the best teenage hitter in history (plus multiple other pieces based on your asking price) for your overpriced outfielders: http://www.pitcherlist.com/going-deep-vladimir-guerrero-jr-is-doing-unprecedented-things/
Or be mad, but feel free to keep it to yourself
-
As you well know, I made a run at acquiring your expensive hitters but you overvalued them by 3 fold. Scherzer will be a 34 year old pitcher with a million miles on his arm who costs $51 next year and Arenado is on his way out of Coors after next year. This is the peak of their value.
-
I finished in the money last year despite being in the midst of a rebuild and holding way less than $400 worth of players (which you didn't do). I'm guessing I've got a damn good chance to finish in the money again this year, but maybe just outside (which you won't do). I expect to have a really strong team going forward forward based on my very young and good hitters which are the most valuable commodity in ottoneu (and which you don't have).
-
You traded two superstars, one on a very keepable contract, and got zero MLB talent back. You've pissed away a chance at finishing in the money and essentially handed the league to someone else. If I have to explain why that deal sucks, there's no point.

Based on your comments, I assume you think I’m getting ripped off. I’ll be just fine rolling out a lineup with vlad jr, Gleyber, judge, Bellinger, Hoskins, Shaw, mazara, seager, and Eloy for the next several years. So don’t worry about me
-
In which direction?

And the selling team is in third place too, good lord.

What a fucking swindling.

Ha, Bundy dropped almost as many points last night as Paxton earned in a no hitter

Willing to start considering selling moves, and I've got some big guns to offer - Stanton, Harper, and Trout all can move.
