Hey everyone, just a quick heads up they Yu Yu Yu (and his 80 grade team name) decided to retire, so we abandoned his team. Feel free to let anyone you know who might be interested in picking up his team. If anyone else knows for sure they will not be back, please let me and/or Chippy know. I’d be fine with folks staying on through arbitration, also, as I think most folks aren’t going to think about picking up fantasy baseball teams for a while
-
Congrats to Homer and the top 3!
Looking forward to an offseason of wheeling and dealing
-
I had a stroke on the 15, maybe my head is still blurry

The interesting part was cutting before knowing October, November, December and January. For sure, Ohtani may be a January 31 cut. I do not see any benefit in a Sept 30 Ohtani cut...not needing salary space.
-
I dont think you are wrong, Papi - I would have made the same call. People reacted similarly with Harper last year
-
Yeah, well my 6th baseball sense tells me that he won't be batting long in 2024 and won't play until 2025 (pitching and batting), I let him go in three of my leagues 54$, 59$ and this one, I probably will regret it but was is done is done, good luck to all the auctionnees for Ohtani somewhere in March. Thanks Commish for great job and Congrats to top three ans especially 1st place

The Ohtani cut was...ah, interesting?
-
Thanks. This league is always a challenge in the best possible way. The new league mates we got this year were all excellent additions. Looking forward to a fun off-season (love that Ottoneu keeps us engaged through the off-season) and also the Shohei Ohtani auction which will be just about the most damn interesting auction in our history
-
I know I'm new to the league, but it's still cool to see League Records being broken - Alien with record AB's and 2B's. Isotopes with HBP. Chippy with SB's and Holds. Homer with K's.
-
Congratulations, Homer! You were there all season and then walked away at the end. Impressive.
Congrats to Alien too - great finish.
-
I checked with Niv. As you said, in a suspended game the lineup I had on the original game day continues to apply, and any points will count retroactively to that day.
-
I’d encourage you to write Niv about that. My belief is no, you’ll be locked into the players you started at the time the game started. But that’s just based on that seeming to be the case to me from previous suspended games and because ir makes logical sense, I don’t have the definitive answer, so maybe email Niv or post a message on the community board if you wanted to be super safe
-
Question about a suspended game - the KCR/DET game was suspended in the 4th inning and will resume tomorrow. If I had the players in my lineup today, do I need to also have them in my lineup tomorrow?
-
Four teams vying for second place! Going to be a photo finish for 8th place as well...
-
Thanks for clarifying. I was wondering if I had to have a have a valid team to close the season, or if I could bid $500 each on 50 players in the final days. I guess not. :-)
-
What’s not permitted is grabbing a bunch of players at the end of the year without making corresponding cuts. If you’re going to try to grab some folks on the wire with an eye toward next year, you will have to make cuts to stay within the roster limits. Good luck everyone in the last few days
-
Wow, this is a tight finish. Closest we’ve had that I can recall. Just a quick note to remind everyone that our league rule is that your roster must be legal at the end of the year. That is, it has to be legal within the legal limits at the time. So teams that are over the cap are fine as long as they have loans and teams that have over 40 players are fine if that’s because they have guys on the 60 day IL.
-
Totally support Good Faith.
-
Agreed re Chippy’s approach to resolution. If someone falls out of compliance, I am fine as long as they are actively taking steps to remedy it, e.g. starting auctions on major leaguers to fill out the major league roster. Chippy was in compliance when we sent the earlier message, but then fell out after a couple trades were processed.
-
Yes- I see that I’m not doing great on this rule…lots of moving parts…
I promise im moving quickly to compliance.
We haven’t had to enforce this yet, but I’m in favor of the soft approach suggested by Young in his article— notify offending party and give them a chance to resolve it in good faith
-
Hey everyone, quick note this morning from the co-commissioners. Now that some sellers have started to make moves, we wanted to remind everyone, per the reminder from Chad Young’s article, that the rules state that you need to always maintain a 22 man roster major league roster capable of filling a lineup. Everyone is good now, but just wanted everyone to be reminded as they plan their rosters. Here’s the article: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/the-saga-of-ottoneu-rule-1a/

The Great Chippy Selloff of 2023 has begun! it's high time we did a proper rebuild, and I have a week of vacation, so let's make some action happen... trade block is full of studs, will make any trade that makes me better for when Jackson Holliday come up to mash
-
I’m just bustin chops. I have the attention span of a fruit fly, so kudos to y’all for keeping that whole thing straight
-
The trade required mutual negotiation to address roster and salary caps. Successful trades are a series of chat from both parties. This year, across leagues, is a "make me an offer" mentality followed by "I want more" without defining "more."
-
Ya sure you guys couldn’t get any more players into that trade?
-
for those teams that think they have a great team check out OPL--its best ball format and requires no real additional oversight on you part.
-
That was a fun auction, guys. Fast and efficient. Looking forward to a great season.
-
Also reminding everyone to "spring ahead" the morning of our draft.
-
Howdy all. Quick reminder that our draft is scheduled for this Sunday at 10am EST/7am PST. Looking forward to seeing everyone there
-
PSA: The deadline to make any cuts before the season starts is tomorrow the 31st at midnight EST. Make sure you get all your cuts in by then.
-
Hey y'all. We did not get a weekday that worked for everyone so we are going to keep the 12th as our draft date. Please mark it down. Also, I realized we polled everyone on 10am on the 12th and that worked, so we'll update the draft time accordingly. This should help our west coast friends especially, though 7 is early even for east coasters. See you all then. Please all remember that 1/31 is the deadline for trades and cuts before the draft.

Weekday options added to the doodle poll: https://doodle.com/meeting/organize/id/b4Q5M3Jd
-
Weeknights - I cannot do Tuesdays before 9:00pm Eastern, and Thursdays the 9th and 23rd are out. Other than that I can make weeknights happen, although the week of the 13th is waaaay easier than the other two March weeks.
-
The 6th-9th works for me. Or any 20-27th
-
I am pretty flexible as far as weeknights go. I should be able to knock out the draft after work and the kiddo goes to bed. I agree that finding a day that works for 100% of the crew - even if someone has to come late - is the preferred situation.

The 12th is still OK for me - I can be flexible on time, recently found out I will have to be at a convention for work 14th-18th, but weeknights are good for me if it is 9-13th or 20-27th
-
thanks. draft days are starting to dwindle--so if we could nail it down that would be great--have another on the 19th.
-
Yours truly is on the west coast. I would be more than happy to start the draft at 8a or 9a eastern if that works for everyone. I will also set up a new poll for a few weekday options. We have one person who can’t make the 12th. In my experience, that’s as close to unanimity as a league can get, but it would be great if it happens that we could actually find a day that works for 100% of the league. We’ll hold the 12th as the planned draft day unless it turns out there is 100% on another day
-
March 12th is the start of Daylight Savings Time, so we will lose an hour of sleep. That's going to be an really early morning, but I'm okay with it. Are there any west coast people in the league?
-
Ok, folks, 10 out of 10 respondees were available for March 12 in the morning so let’s go with that. Please let the commissioners know if there are any subsequent issues that arise. Looking forward to the season.
-
Excited for the season and this new league. First time doing a Points one. Looking forward to learning as we go.

Hello, All. I'm happy to be here and I'm looking forward to the season. This is my first Points league, so I will have a little learning curve, but it will be fun.
-
Right now, March 12 in the morning is the date that works for everyone for the draft. Please check out the doodle poll to register your availability if you have not already done so.
-
Very happy to see some new owners joining us. Welcome everyone. To remind everyone of our house rule, we ask that any owners (new or old), pay their dues before making any cuts/trades to ensure that you will remain with the team through the year. Some of you have done that and we all thank you for doing so. If you have not done that, please do so as soon as you can. If there are any issues with that rule, please feel free to message myself or co-commissioner Chippy privately
-
Specifically, we’re looking at the weekends of the 4-5 and 11-12, but the 25th is also an option if needed. All times are EST but are not set in stone, I’ve just selected morning, afternoon and evening times. If we have to move one of those around an hour or so, that’s no big.
-
Hey everybody, I think this link should work, but this is my first shot at a doodle poll, so please let me know if it doesn’t. Below is a poll with some possible dates for our draft. Please click the link and select any dates and times that work for you. I’ve stuck to weekends in March for now and chosen some limited options but we can expand into weekdays if we don’t get dates ther work out of this. Thanks https://doodle.com/meeting/organize/id/b4Q5M3Jd

Welcome to D’Anconia Cooper, taking the place of Kneel Before Zod, who decidedly failed to cause anyone to kneel before him. Let’s keep this off-season going
-
Yeah, everyone go out and spread the word that we need new owners in any other leagues you’re in or wherever. We’ve never had an issue filling empty slots (same is true for my other Ottoneu points league), but the sooner we can fill them, the better. Get as many teams involved in trading early
-
wow--we have 6 abandoned teams in this league--thats crazy
-
i'm paid up. let's deal!
