Abstentions are basically approvals, you need 7 to veto.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm unsure how the veto system works:
"The league has approved this trade. Approved: 4 Vetoed: 5 Abstained: 3"
That seems silly.
-
You have until 1:49 this afternoon to veto if you want. It seems like everyone, both opposed to and participating in the trade, would be fine with the new stated loan amount of "42-50". I propose in the event of a veto I force the trade through after the fact with 46 being sent over. This way we don't make them wait another 2 days since they've been good sports about the whole thing and we agree this is a fair resolution.
-
I'm totally fine reworking the money being sent.
-
Hey, I just saw all of this and am completely fine doing a loan of $42-50 like Rounders suggests if it's for the greater good of the league.
-
The best way to get back at the Bombers would be to make a lopsided trade with me, do it now.
-
Agreed. That seems like a more reasonable about. Throwing $84 at it just seems unnecessary, and the extra $30 SABRFish keeps for the season could be used to keep the team respectable.
-
Just to be clear I would propose a loan amount of $42-$50-ish to be fairer. thoughts?
-
I thought it was a zero cap increase for the Bombers since the value of the players going the other way total $16 (Am I wrong?) Since the Bombers have $46 of cap space I would think something like $34 (Yellich salary) - $40 would be fairer. For me, I think it's the available cap space coupled with loan amount is what is providing the unbalance.
-
For the sake of discussion, if this trade were to be vetoed, and then reproposed with a different loan amount, what would be a more reasonable number? Right now the loan covers everything except the majority of adam jones salary, so it is a 16 dollar cap increase for bombers.
-
I guess I will take the contrarian view here; yes, it might be a little early in the season to see a move like this and I certainly don’t like it from a “I want to win this year” perspective, but when viewing cap space as an asset just like anything else, I don’t necessarily have a problem with it. There will always be unbalanced trades and, from my standpoint, unless there is clear collusion, I never throw out a veto. I wouldn’t want to see new trading rules established as a knee-jerk

I agree. Seems to really unbalance things. Bombers gets all the good players as well as a huge salary gift from SABRFish, who, if they hadn't thrown away $84, could reasonably still stay somewhat competitive. I vetoed, and hope that this gets reworked.
-
It might be a bit late to bring this up but I just wanted to say that I feel the $84 loan as part of the SABRfish and Brewerytown Bombers trade is too much. While Tatis and Bichette may be blue-chip prospects I think that it's only fair for the Bombers to have to foot more of the salary for a top 5 starter especially since there is available cap space. Maybe going forward we should think about how much is too much when it comes to loan amounts and how that affects competitive balance. thanks
