I will trade you Hosmer to increase you're team's TWTW quotient. π

So what's new around here?

GIGANTE - to be clear regarding my post: I do not believe you engaged in any wrongdoing. Nor has there been any call to have you removed. My goal was simply to nip any such calls in the bud. I understand your strategy and have no problems with your execution of it. We all go about this differently and there really isn't one right way to do it. I understand that these cap space trades cause some emotion - and that's fine. They're the primary difference between Ottoneu and other games.
-
Nevertheless, my plan for a competetive future is my only intention. Certainly not to help others achieve my own goal, nor cause distruption. Neither is it to gain favorable opinion.

I then traded Iwakuma after the draft for Andrew Benentiendi $9. I could list other trade scenarios I could use where the younger player emerged and the some of the other players disappeared, but my point is that things change quickly. Only time will tell who will recieve the greater outcome in a trade. I had hoped to compete this year, but losing Jose Fernandez and starting the year with key players suspended and injured, sticking to the plan of restructure made the most sense.

Just to make a point. I will go back and make in time to tell how I came about owning some of the players I traded today. Aroldis Chapman I had gotten for nothing. At $26 in was a salary dump, I had the cap space so I took him on. Morales is an interesting one, because I got him at $4 with H. Iwakuma at $12 for a $12 Kevin Gausman (I had orinally gotten Gausman from the same owner in year one and he was obviously cut at somepoint, because he is now $7).

but I won't apologize for the deals I made as my intention is to better my team in the fashion that I have chosen. Not to upgrade someone elses chances of winning nor diminishing anyone elses.

I suppose if there is a statement that I will not be kicked out the league then someone feels that I should be. As I know no one in the league personally and feel a general neutrality towards anyone winning the league other than myself, I have a very tough time seeing any wrong doing on my part that would even bring that particular subject to the surface. I will apologize if I wasn't clear enough in responding to other owners messages or offers,

3) Ottoneu allows for a wide range of strategies and I am generally against limiting those strategies through over-legislation. That said, we will certainly listen to any proposals and welcome civil discussion.
-
2) I don't think GIGANTE has done anything egregious here and I won't be kicking him out of the league. I don't believe any of these deals breaks the league or disrupts the playing field (more than any other trade would). Whether anyone leaves or stays is their prerogative, though I hope it doesn't happen. I really don't want to lose anyone. This has been a good group of guys and I've enjoyed playing with you.
-
1) I understand the emotions involved when these types of deals happen - I've made them and had them made by others to my detriment. We do play with the standard rule set that allows for this and, arguably, encourages it. It also allows for a veto if you see fit to vote that way. I won't pass judgment publicly on the big trade - I can see the logic both ways. I was involved in the Aroldis (or, as I prefer to call it, Morales) trade, so I do have a dog in the fight.
-
I have Seager, Sanchez, JBJ, Benitiendi. Which young cheap major leaguers are we talking about? You point out the talent for dollar, with age being a factor which will help me in 2018, that I was going to get. There is no chance Bellinger, Bell or Torres help me in 2018. That is inconcievable. Just as you are pointing out that I should have gotten something, which doesn't exist. Adios I'm off to Canada!

Sigh...I dunno because maybe I already had 5 or 6 of the top ten prospects depending on what list you look at. I think most of my guys will see the majors very soon.

If the only response I get is logical equivalent of "if you don't like it, move to Canada" then I'll stop discussing the issue. GL in 2020, El Gigante.
-
Ultimately, I feel I got a lot of talent back and the cap room to protect it as well as add pieces in the draft. That's what was best for me and that was clear when I put guys on the block to sell. I tried to be fair and respond to everyone, but I had offers from half the league. However, if I say I am sell then we can all expect it is coming whether you agree with the results. End of story.

Contracts off your plate?! IT'S FUCKING APRIL, DUDE! I get that if you sell-off, you want to be the first to do so. But why three weeks into the season? Why every player at once? Why for only prospects and not ML talent that can offer surplus value and help you compete in 2018?
-
I mean enough will the sour grapes. There have been many deals in this league I have diagreed with and no one has ever heard a word. We all like certain guys for certain reasons and have voids to fill and a salary caps to maintain. This makes for a competely different dynamic in terms of trading and all that has to be factored in. I traded guys I like a lot, but there dollar value was going to fade when my team would reach its full potential. I also had contracts I wanted off my plate.

I would also add that the first trade (Chapman) was not a lopsided trade. Gigante unloaded a way overpriced SP and an unkeepable Chapman for 3 legit top 10 in baseball prospects. I'm not a fan of the 2nd trade at all but you can reasonably expect all 6 of those players to be starting in MLB going into next season so I understand the thinking at least.
