Lots of interesting bacteria and microorganisms incubate in middle school aged kids. Would’ve preferred something more retro like swine flu. Can someone on code enforcement/ neighborhood watch confirm that I just need to fill the rest of my OF spots with ML guys to be in compliance?
-
Yeah, it's real dumb, Ben. These guys think rules are more than a guideline. If you want to slap a sticker on your team that says "Guaranteed Piece of Shit" you should be able to, IMO. I didn't even realize people can still get COVID, but glad to hear they didn't need to hook you up to the ventilator.
-
Yes you can thank sandy for this league being such sticklers to the rule book unlike other Otto's where its the wild west
-
Okay, thanks for the clarity. I'll look into my roster situation as soon as possible - which might be this weekend. Super busy this week with both jobs (missed time last week and over the weekend with COVID because parents will send their sick kids to school no matter what). Fully vaxed and boosted too so thankfully it wasn't too severe
-
It's a gray area but the rule is meant to maintain a baseline level of competitiveness. For "healthy" I'd say 10/15 IL counts towards being able to fill the requirement but 60IL doesn't.
-
So I need to have 22 healthy ML guys, and I need to be able to fill all possible lineup slots with those 22 guys?
So a roster is in compliance with 22 healthy ML guys and 18 others on minor league rosters, correct? Let's say one of the 22 gets hurt and has to go to the IL. Would that manager be forced to cut a player from their 18 minor leaguers and win an auction for a current ML player to remain in compliance?
-
No penalty other than the cap hits for guys you have to cut, obviously you aren't trying to compete this year. Just get your roster in compliance (which is not just having 22 major leaguers, but having players to fill out all the slots, see I-e-i https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#rosters-overview). We had this come up with Sandy a few years ago.
-
Including ML guys on the IL, I have 21. So I’d just need to get one more guy currently on a ML roster, correct? Just to ensure clarity
-
I did not even know this rule existed. I feel like now that you and we all are aware of this rule, just make a good faith effort to add/drop as needed to get into compliance with minimum number of major league players. If not I'll be forced to actually think of a penalty which in turn is practically a penalty on myself for having to work (so don't make me).
-
I couldn’t find anything about a penalty in the rules section. However, some of the other violations listed are penalized at the commissioners discretion. I’m not sure how Pretzels would penalize this, but I’d imagine it starts with getting your team in compliance with the league rules.
-
Oh ok my bad. What’s the penalty?
-
Sorry the rule is in section I not section IV I linked my bad.
-
"Each team shall during the regular season maintain a roster of 22 major-league players that can fill out a starting lineup as defined below. The remaining 18 roster spots can be used for reserves, consisting of both major and minor leaguers."
-
Bad news Ben, you've broken the Sandy rule. Gotta have enough MLB depth to fill out your lineup. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#rosters-in-season
-
hunter brown on the block, iso peanuts
-
I understand why you'd feel that way given the short-term impact. Thanks for looking out for me
-
If unclear, I vetoed this turd. Stand up for what you believe even if you stand alone.
-
All these guys are rather nice, but you should know, KK, that this was a dumbshit trade that tilts the balance of the league. Hope it works out for you and that in the future you aren’t so easily taken. Nobody likes to watch a sheep get torn apart in real time.
-
Happy Easter everyone, busy chat today. I also don’t believe there is collusion, which would be the only reason I personally would veto a trade. If that’s where he values this specs, then so be it. Have a good holiday y’all.
-
And happy Easter!
-
Having said that, I personally am not in favor of protecting managers from getting fleeced regardless of the fleecer. Everyone else had/has the opportunity to trade with Ben if you think his values are out of whack. I will not be vetoing
-
your roster is locked for a month, this won't help you unless you advance so don't try to lie
-
lol sure, that trade is just for OPL

The veto feature is there for a reason. Totally fine w checks and balances. Enjoy the holiday everyone
-
This trade was the help my OPL team. You're kidding yourself if you think you have a chance with me having Yordan or not. I'll be vetoing just so you all don't loose interest for this season.

Thanks for giving one team a 40$ advantage on the rest of us for the entire season... trade dead line is a little far away to start tanking for 2025
-
I get to the idea that the internals you are using showcase all of them as much better than we are identifying with what's available to the public, but without a big marquee piece and with a full loan, essentially you are paying Rayn to have a free top 5 batter for 1 season. I don't ever vote veto (unless their collusion type stink, which is not this) but if you really want those pieces I'm fine with it, but my take is at min Rayn should have to make tough choices with his budget to add Yordan

You're going to have to release your proprietary data to convince us.

It’s fine if you want to reject it, but I like the data on all of them. Each one is a bit of a project so maybe I shouldn’t include as much in a loan?
-
I concur, doctor
-
You like a quad-A part time outfield, the worst team in baseballs 5th starter, and 19 year old in single A thats a few years away from the bigs better than one of the best hitters in baseball. You aren't even saving money on the deal. I guess the question I still have is why do you like those guys?

I like those 3 guys a lot. It’s fine if you want to reject it no hard feelings

I'm going to need to hear the reasoning behind this one

He's trying. He just bid 2$ on Mountcastle.

I'm dumb, forgot about dues factor. Hopefully he decides to get his money's worth eventually. Without the threat of relegation, it could be fun trying to make something out of nothing.

I say if he paid, it's his ship to captain or abandon. Not like no one has abandoned a team before, and it's less chaos than if his players are cut and auctioned post-draft.
-
He paid up for renewal so I’m not rushing shit. I’ll reach out and message again.
-
i mean who would want to take over this team post draft? going to be impossible.. i say we cut all his players and roll with 11 teams
-
We should decide that quickly. The longer we wait, the worse it's going to be for the incoming owner if we do replace. Missing the draft is bad enough, but now they're missing out on auctions.

Are we replacing him here?
-
That's what she said.
-
NM the hole has been filled.
-
Anybody that is not already in Fatnasty want to take over a team? This Zack Wendkos person is unreliable and I'd rather replace with someone responsible before the draft takes place. Keepers lock at midnight tonight, but we have some time. Send me a message here if you or someone you know would like to play.
-
good night and good luck
-
Just a friendly reminder that the draft is tomorrow at 6:00 EST. Hopefully everyone will be there and can make it!
-
For those that partake, Fatnasty Keeper prices have been finalized. Link is on the league homepage.
-
Alright, that worked out shockingly smoothly. Wednesday, March 6th and 6:00 PM EST it is!
-
lets lock in 3/6
