Any chance we can all agreed upon a different date? If not, then I'll just try to go through as much as I can before I need to head out to the airport, which will have to be around 4pm PST.
-
Ok guys, bad news about the draft date, at least for me.. As I said earlier, I have a wedding that I need to attend on the 28th so I thought the 29th would be good, but what I didn't know was that the wedding was in LA! (my girlfriend conveniently forgot to mention that fact when I agreed..) So when we were booking our flights out of the LA that weekend, the only flight out that made sense both logistically and economically was on the 29th, which means I'll be on a plane during our proposed time
-
That definitely works for me. Awesome!
-
Sunday, March 29 at 12:30 Pacific; 1:30 Mountain; 2:30 Central; 3:30 Eastern it is. Thanks guys! Looking forward to it.
-
Sounds good to me.
-
Well that's fine with me but I don't want to put anyone out if they already booked it.

I wasn't even thinking about PST vs. EST. Could we start at 12:30 Pacific/3:30 Eastern on that Sunday? Auction drafts kind of suck if everybody isn't there.
-
I get home at 12:30p pacific time

That would work for me.

NSH - the first little bit is where most of the action happens (where all the top players usually gets nominated) so I doubt you'll want to miss that. When do you think you'll be done with church? We can always start at 2pm or something.
-
Never mind, realize that Ottoneo only does twelve team leagues.
-
New draft works for me too. Also, I was talking to a couple of people about this league and they got really excited about it. Any chance we could up this to a fourteen team league? Is that an option? Let me know.
-
Works for me too.

I'll miss the first little bit because of church but I'm fine with it.

Unfortunately I can't do the 28th, have a wedding that I need to attend. What about Sunday the 29th? We can start it at 1pm EST (10am PST) and we'll probably finish around 8-9pm EST.
-
I can do the 28th but I don't think there is ever going to be a census date.

That's a good catch. Sorry North Sound Hounds, I missed your post. We also can't do it on the weekend of March 6-8. We had a date set for the Apr. 4th, but someone reminded us that is Easter Saturday, which will be difficult for some. What about March 28?
-
The dates when people in the league can't draft are March 14/15 and March 21/22 right now.
-
I'll be at spring training that week. Am I the only one that thought the date was picked already?

I'll reset it to March 21 at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Let me know if that doesn't work.
-
Most of my weekends in march are free as well.
-
Just realized the current date is the Saturday during Easter weekend so I'm definitely for changing it.
-
I'm good any weekend in March too.
-
I am available every weekend in March except the 14th/15th.
-
Most of my weekends in March are free.....if people want to do another draft date
-
I definitely can't do it march 6,7,8 but could probably make any other day work.

I don't mind voting on a new date. I kind of like a late date because it means we know all of the ST injuries and how the depth charts are coming together. I know I cannot draft on March 21st but, other than that, I'm up for voting.

Voting for draft days
-
We can create a pretty easy voting system through Google
-
Don't suppose we could have the draft before April 4th? Seems a bit late.

I've done these drafts for 3 yrs also. The draft can go quicker for some. It can go 6 hrs but most likely will be done a little quicker after your draft money is lowered or when you feel confident with your team.

You can also pause the draft, so if we have some scheduled breaks, say around the 2nd and 4th hour mark, we should be able to get through it without any of us burning out and lose focus.
-
Agreed, it all depends on how much money each of us has after the initial influx of high salaried players. Shortest I've had so far is around 5 hours and the longest was around 8, so I thought 6-8 was good range for our reference.

In my opinion (and experience), if all of us have 1 night free, we should just suck it up and go through the whole thing and fill all the rosters up. If we start around 2-3 in the afternoon, we should be done around 10 at the latest.
-
The rest of the time is people trying to get good value on mid-tier players, so it it takes a while with the nomination and bidding process. At around the last hour, it's usually the people with salary left to start nominating $1 players, and that could take some time as well.
-
Just a little insight on the initial draft (this is my 4th year playing otto and 3rd league, commish for 1 of them), it usually takes about ~6-8 hours and I'd suggest we try to knock it out in 1 night, because it's much harder to gather 12 people on multiple nights than on 1 night. All the top players usually goes in the first 2 hours (it takes a good amount of time to bid on guys $1 at a time, since people like to wait til the last second to bid, though you get 45 seconds to outbid someone).
-
How's it going guys, just joined in on the fun!
-
My wife this morning: Do you think this year you could spend less time on Fantasy Baseball?
Me: How about this? How about you spend *more* time on Fantasy Baseball.
-
Hey everyone, looking forward to this. And a little terrified.
-
I think a rolling draft over multiple days is a good idea, I am definitely down for that.
-
These drafts do take quite a while, multiple days is a good option, although everyone should try to be there for day 1 to bid on any guy they definitely want.

I think a 4 day rolling draft is probably the easiest way to go. Better than trying to find 1 day for a dozen people or so to get together.
-
Love the team names ... two more spots to fill. Also, I was thinking of spreading the initial auction out over four days. I imagine it will take a long time, and spreading it out may make it more accessible for everyone.
-
Great team names, BTW.
-
This should be fun!
