Hey guys, it might be a little late for some of you and I probably shouldn't really say anything.... but hell I'm in a good mood, so just a quick tip from past experience, don't cut your guys right away. Why? 1. The more players you have on your roster, the higher the chance someone might allocate some salary to a player you might want to drop anyways.
-
Nice work Victorious....Looking forward to next year for some reason...

Well done!

The arbitration period starts on October 15th and ends November 14th according to the calendar, and we have until the keeper deadline on Jan 31st to make trades and cuts. We can schedule the draft for any time after that, but generally I like to schedule mine near the end of spring training (end of March) to avoid any major injuries and team changes.
-
Once the draft is over, we have nothing to do other than to wait for the start of the next season :)
-
After the arbitration period is ended, the trading period then begins. we can make trades and cut players without penalty until the keeper deadline (different each year) and once the keeper deadline is past, then you can't trade or cut players without penalties. once the keeper deadline has past, we again just hang tight until the second year draft, which is basically an abbreviated version of the first year draft, should take about 2-4 hours, depending how many players we all drop.
-
As for the roster, each player who has major league time will go up by $2, and all minor leaguers will go up by $1.
-
Thanks guys! It was a great first year for sure. As for the offseason, we all just kind of just hang tight until the arbitratio period. There's two ways to go about it, either allocation, where each of us gets $25 dollars to allocate to the other teams ($3 max per team), or vote off, where each of us gets to vote off a player from the other teams. For all the years I've done ottoneu, allocation is definitely the way to go.
-
Congrats, Victorious! This was a lot of fun!
-
Congrats, Victorious! Could someone who knows the off-season drill explain what's up next (Arbitration, dollar allocation, etc....)
-
Great year everybody. Congratulations Victorious

Kris Bryant is finally OF eligible. Where was this when I really needed this like 2 months ago /suicide.
-
Ken asked me to write an update. I'll probably hit it this weekend. Let me know if you have any thoughts you want added. Maybe reflections on your season so far.
-
Hi all, sorry for the delay, I was on a roadtrip this weekend. I added Derek Holland back to Nonrevelatory Rumors for $1. Mistakes happen, and I agree that a quick email to the commissioner should result in a "do-over."
-
I'm fine with it, mistakes happen. He can just add him back onto your team, though it might be weird for a while since someone else might be able to start an auction on him while he's still on your team (happened to me once), but it should be fine.
-
Message Kimmets (Kim Mets), and I think he might be able to fix it, as long as nobody in the league objects? I think it's definitely fair if you bring it up pretty quickly.
-
Shit, I cut the wrong guy. Is there any way to "un-cut" a player?
-
I need to cut a player to make my roster valid. Before I cut someone, is anyone interested in Puig? I'm willing to deal him.
-
Sorry for the SP purge. Trying to clean up my roster some.

Johnny Beisbol's trade block has been updated!

Polonie Phillies's trade block has been updated!

If you're over your cap space, you need to get under before you can do anything else such as set your lineups or bid on players. They do not care how much over you are, you just can't do anything until you fix it.
-
You can go over cap to add players, however you must cut players to get back down.
-
Ottoneu probably won't count any points for him until he fixes it. I'm surprised it let him add Cargo.
-
Curious how that CarGo pickup works. Doesn't it put Victorious into significantly negative cap space? Is this allowed?
-
I've started to talk to a few people about selling off some of my veteran assets. I have a DL loaded with players who should be good when they come back. I thought I'd just put this out there. If I have any vets who anyone is interested in, now might be a good time to contact me. I'm especially loaded at the corners.
-
I need to make an offensive upgrade (other than at 1B or 2B). Jose Fernandez is scheduled to return soon. I'd be willing to deal him if I found the right offer. Let me know if there is anyone with a SP need that would be interested in working out a deal.
-
And as of this moment I'm not in last place..Clearly picking up Castro had vastly improved my team chemistry.... :)
-
Just to put my two cents in...Thanks for not vetoing it first of all...and everyone is avaibale...When your in last place you try to do some things that maybe you wounldn't do normally...I haven't been useing Turner so....Again sorry if I didn't make it clear he was aviavialble but literartly everyone is..."need to shake things up"
-
I'm a huge Dodgers fan and he's been a godsend for us (lol Mets). I very much enjoy watching him play every day and I have him in like 3 other leagues, so I know exactly how valuable he is. I would have beat the offer of Castro easily had I known he was available, but this was not a trade to get up in arms about IMO. Last year I traded Joc for Verlander/Kemp/Urias (JV and Kemp were at unkeepable prices and I was going for it) and I'm afraid that would have been vetoed here.....
-
No worries. If the rest of the league is ok with the trade, I'm onboard. I just didn't want this to go overlooked. I think there's a natural "lol Justin Turner" reaction and just wanted to call attention to what he's doing and why he's doing it.
-
In other news, Drew Hutchison, Latos, and Alfredo Simon are all available if anybody is in need of cheap, productive, SPs.
-
Lastly, this is not a personal attack on Matt Albers but I think "I'm vetoing this trade because I think someone else had a mistake" is a ridiculous way to go about the business. Everyone has their own valuations on players and each team has their own specific needs, just because you think someone is getting ripped off doesn't mean that person thinks they're getting ripped off. Both sides agreed to the trade for a reason, it's not our place to deny them a chance to improve their team.
-
Also, what if Turner turns back into a pumpkin and Castro blows up and becomes the next Piazza? I'd be pissed if my trade got vetoed when I saw something in a player that I wanted to target and overpaid for him, just for the league to step in and block the trade because people thought I was getting ripped off. It's not like he's getting Trout for some no name scrub. I say let people do their own business, we don't need enforcers.
-
Holy crap I step away for a second and the comments section blows up. Anyways, I'm the commish for 2 of my other leagues and I see no problems with the trade here. My general rule for vetoing is that there has to be a clear sign of collusion between the 2 parties before the league has to step in. If both parties agree on a deal and feel that they're getting fair value in return, why should we put ourselves in between them?
-
Projection systems are flawed and wrong a lot. And for fantasy purposes Turner is having a good season, but he is older, and has 12 months of good playing and years of bad.
-
To address the post about this not being Kipnis for Castro: my point is that it kind of is Kipnis for Castro since Turner's projections by 2 out of 3 systems on this website say Turner will be better than Kipnis going forward.
-
He can pick up a catcher for a dollar who's almost as good as Castro. Castro is a platoon bat for the Astros. There is no reason to give up a very well performing MIF for him. Also, as I mentioned, this isn't a new thing for Turner, this is a 12 month period in which he's the best 2nd baseman by wRC+. Rest of season ZiPS for him is 130 wRC+, 112 by Steamer and 121 by Fangraphs depth charts.
-
Just my two cents, but I'd have a huge problem with a trade being vetoed. It should be under extreme circumstances. Kipnis at $1 for Castro at $1 for example would be questionable.
-
wRC+ is good and all, but for fantasy purposes Turner isn't the best second baseman. If they both agree that this trade can help both of their teams then the trade should be allowed to go through. Maybe he values Castro highly? We all have players we put a higher value on.
-

Nobody expects Turner to continue to perform at what is probably his 90% percentile projection for the rest of the year. Plus, the Phillies have every IF position filled with players who projected better than Turner. So, he has a position of strength versus C, where his team is not very good.
-
I am not ok with vetoing trades if, and only if, the trade in agreement between two teams is beneficial to both teams. If both teams are aware of the players they're receiving and giving up, but both have the need for a trade, and this is what they agree too, then I'm perfectly fine with it (even if I wouldn't make the trade).
-
Just to tack on to my post a few moments ago: Turner is the #1 2nd baseman by wRC+ over the last calendar year. He's very valuable, especially for a dollar. Click for leaderboard: http://bit.ly/1CrozXw

Definitely voting to veto Justin Turner for Jason Castro as I think this is a huge mistake. Turner is now a pretty good everyday player for the Dodgers. Castro hasn't even been the best catcher on his team over the past 30 days. This is a really bad idea.
-
Johnny Beisbol's trade block has been updated!
-
Jason Castro is available. I'm looking for a middle infielder.
-
Matt Carpenter is available if anyone is interested. I also have other guys available.
-
This guy is looking for a 3B, shoot me some offers?
-
Anyone need a third baseman?
