It sounds like the weekend is best for those who have responded and as close to Opening Day as possible, giving us all time to get (back) up to speed in regard to all of the goings on with MLB, so I have set the auction draft for Sunday evening, July 19, at 8:00 p.m. EDT. I hope and trust that works for all and look forward to seeing you in the draft room that night.
-
The only days that don't work for me is the week of July 12. (I'm a CPA, tax filing deadline is July 15, and unfortunately most of my clients are notorious procrastinators)
-
Weekdays after 7:00PM EST are best for me. Sunday nights could also work. Thanks.
-
I'm out on vacation between July 12 and 16. Would prefer we do the auction as close to the start of the season as possible.

any weekday after 4 pm after July 6th anytime on the weekend after July 6th

Allrighty, boys, it looks like this thing is a GO, so let's start the fun process of trying to lock down a draft date and time. Please post here on the league message board ASAP any specific days between now and July 23 that you are definitely OUT, any days of the week that are seriously BAD, and any times of day that are a major inconvenience. I will keep a chart and attempt to calculate if there is anything left when the dust settles.
-
It appears that the respective greedy parties are closing in on some kind of resolution that will enable some semblance of an abbreviated MLB season to begin in mid-late July. We will wait until confirmation that an agreement is in place, but please be thinking about your availability for our auction draft in the next few weeks. If you know of any scheduling limitations, please make those known ASAP so that we might accommodate everyone's schedule as best as possible.
-
Draft update: No draft next Sunday. That date was only selected as a place holder. If the owners and players can find any kind of common ground, perhaps we can look at a mid-June draft date, so be thinking about your availability for that as we continue to monitor developments for any sign of an agreement.
-
curious to know if we are going to draft next sunday, or keep delaying, is that even possible? sup
-
Hey all, to help fight the boredom I am going to start a new league. Full draft...If any of you play in my football league you know I do things a bit differently. I utilize the lowest payment on Ottoneu and collect leagues fees myself on PayPal. There are some in this league who can verify. This will be the Old school 5x5 league, $100 per team. All the money distributed goes to the winners. $600 to 1st, $400 to 2nd, $200 to 3rd. Let me know who's interested. Drafting in the next week or 2.

You're wrong about my using the crisis to try to get the auction postponed. I know full well that's not a strategy that would work if I was trying to get my way as people who were on the fence would then more likely vote against me. I'm new to the league and had I known before joining that people would think it's okay to stick to the auction date under these circumstances, I wouldn't have joined. Anyway I realized it was wrong to do that, so I recanted and said I would go along with the majority
-
The commish made a unilateral decision, not based on the voting, from what I see. He took into account your feelings and his (Maybe others, who spoke privately). Fear-mongering and jumping to conclusions when we go through the same scenario every decade or so doesn't help anyone. This is definitely a pandemic and we should be concerned (the US has bungled the start of this), and rescheduling is not a HUGE deal, but you didn't have to be a dick about it.
-
The issue is you used the crisis to get your way and threatened to leave if you didn't get it. You didn't take into account the 11 other people in this league. For instance: I work for the state dept. and my job is to be overseas. As soon as this boils down I'll be leaving to go to Africa and I'm not certain how my internet will be and my time zone will be f'd up. So that's why I wanted to keep the planned date. Because right now I cannot predict my next month.
-
I don't care what you think about my "move" as you call it. I guess you didn't read my follow up where I agreed to abide by the vote. But the commish did the right thing in the end. Still amazing that there are people (like you) who would keep the auction date the same when there's a worldwide health crisis going on and the season may be canceled because "I need a few hours of joy since there's no other sports going on right now" (paraphrasing). Unreal. And I'm the one with
-
And if spring training was running normal-I guess you would be insane for bidding on players not knowing about their health or the injury that coulda happened in the next few weeks. Same circumstances when we draft later. But it's postponed and we can all catch up on movies. I'll be camping at stores looking for toilet paper. lol.

Looks like I missed all kinda stuff being away from the site for a few days. Guess the draft is postponed. Personally, I woulda voted just to keep the draft as planned. And I do agree with Killer, kinda a BS move to say you won't participate a couple of days before the draft to get your way. Doesn't matter now, you got your way. I'll bet your one of those hoarding toilet paper with that kind of me me me attitude. It's cool though, no worries. But don't pull that mess anymore, it's wrong.

good statement, i agree. good luck stay safe.

Thank you.

This upcoming week will be a major tipping point in regard to whether the US can slow down the exponential spread of this thing or if we continue to track the disastrous escalation in Italy. Once we begin to get any kind of positive clarity on the possible start of the MLB season, I will immediately commence planning for a new draft date that we can ALL look forward to. In the meantime, please keep yourselves and your family safe.
-
I don’t see any way that the MLB season will begin just two weeks late. The bigger question MLB may soon be facing is how late they can reasonably begin ANY kind of meaningful championship season? 100 games? 80 games? 60 games? There is a non-zero chance that the entire season could be wiped out.
-
AUCTION DRAFT POSTPONED – I am really sorry we have to do this, but the world has changed since we originally agreed upon tomorrow as a mutually acceptable draft date. With more than one owner strongly against drafting tomorrow, combined with the lack of urgency to get it done, it only makes sense, in fairness to everyone, to delay the draft. Anyone who believes what is going on in the world around us is a mere blip before we return to normalcy, is sadly mistaken.

If there are conflicts I an willing to reschedule

I would prefer to keep the draft where it is... mostly due to the inevitable server problems that will occur the closer a rescheduled draft day gets to the regular season

i choose not to weigh in. im fine with the crowd.
-
I vote to reschedule given all the reasons cited by Torpedoes and also because due to everything that is going on, my work schedule has become very hectic needing many extra hours. With that said, I will make myself available to draft on Monday if necessary.
-
Most importantly, I feel that having the draft in the midst of the excitement of pending Opening Day will be much more invigorating than the current environment. If the majority wants/needs the fix now, however, we can certainly go forward with having the draft on Monday evening. The unique Ottoneu format provides a mechanism for getting out of a bad pick, not to mention the long-range dynasty aspect. For those who have yet to comment, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.
-
It will take time to get the teams back together. We will have rumors, followed by official news regarding the planned schedule of resumption, quite likely not until some point in May. In addition, many of our usual draft-day conflicts have probably been cancelled, as well, so I would anticipate an easier time coming up with an agreeable new date in this instance.
-
We still have a few teams who have yet to share their thoughts on rescheduling the draft. I would like to make a decision by tonight, if possible. To keep this in perspective, MLB has literally shuttered training camps and sent the players HOME. Not back to their ST housing, mind you, but back to their scattered off-season homes to be with and care for family. There is definitely going to be a second "training camp" period to get everyone back up to speed, and it won't happen instantly
-
I agree with Mayor. I'm good either way, but will vote on keeping current date. I'll add that I'm fine with rescheduling if anyone has a personal situation that makes it difficult to do the current draft date. I don't think the season is starting anytime soon.
-
I really don’t care but I vote to keep it just because it will give me my sports fix. Lol.

My issue is this... State your vote and your reason why, no problem. Don't hold the league hostage trying to get what you want...stating, "I won't participate...if we don't reschedule this thing" isn't fair. We have 11 other individuals who have lives and need to plan around everything going on as well (just setting this date was problematic for everyone and we had a month). My vote is to keep it as is. All my other leagues are keeping the dates, so if this one needs to reschedule, so
-
Okay, fine. We can take a vote and I agree to go along with the majority. I think you know which way I'm voting.
-
Haha. Everyone take a step back. Breathe Lol. "We talkin bout fantasy baseball." Let's try to put things in perspective here and not get bent out of shape with each other. In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter either way. I say we just take a vote and be done with it.

Dude it's not a threat. It's my choice as to whether to participate in the only league I know of that wants to hold a draft in March when the entire sports world has shut down and we're not even sure if there's going to be a season. The argument that we might not be able to get our auction scheduled once MLB decides to resume is absurd. There will be plenty of time to schedule it. MLB is not going to say, 'Hey the season starts tomorrow, get ready'.
-
Haha, love threats... So ridiculous... Players randomly get sick and injured throughout the season. You can't predict what will or won't happen. That's the entire point of a dynasty. Everyone who held onto Severino is kicking themselves now, it's unpredictable. If the league votes to change the draft, then so be it, but it's a bit unfair to try and force the commishes hand because you feel a certain way.
-
Let me be even clearer than before folks. My other leagues are rescheduling. I will not participate in this league at this point and will ask for my money back if we don't reschedule this thing. There is no way I'm going to start bidding on players not knowing who is sick and who is healthy. That's just insane.
-
I play in multiple leagues, and every one of those leagues are discussing rescheduling. What happens when baseball decides we play in one week and we haven't drafted yet. Now we are all stuck trying to fit our drafts in within a week and meeting everyones schedule. Obviously if someone has an issue, it's understandable, but this virus hasn't even hit swine flu proportions yet. I think rescheduling will cause larger issues.
-
If someone is dealing with a situation that recently came up and the draft time is an issue, then I think it makes sense to reschedule. However, if that isn't the case, I think it would probably be easiest to keep the draft date when it is.

We should reschedule. This is a dynasty league, so it's even more important to know dates of when players are eligible to come up, etc. than in a re-draft league.
-
My vote would be to reschedule. That way we are respectful to those who may be dealing with situations far more important than fantasy baseball. From a fantasy standpoint, I think it also makes sense. God forbid you draft someone that something serious happens to.
-
Keep the date and draft, no guarantees at this point. We don't want to be left scrambling at a later date.
-
In light of the quickly escalating chaos around the world, I wanted to get the pulse of the $100 OS Hardball League. MLB is reportedly going to suspend spring training games after today, and I really don't see how they are going to be able to start the 2020 regular season on schedule, with all other sports shutting down. My recommendation is that we temporarily postpone Monday's draft until we have a handle on how all this is going to play out. Does anyone else have thoughts?
-
The draft is set for Monday, March 16, 8 pm EDT. Thank you to everyone for helping to isolate a mutually acceptable date.
-
Draft Date Update: As of this morning, it looks like we are down to a handful of select weeknights in March as our remaining options, likely a Mon or Tues. If any of those are potential conflicts for you, please go to the Doodle poll and check them off (if you have not already). I will announce the winning (no conflict) date this weekend.
-
Hey fellas, let's help the Commish out and go onto the Doodle site and select your dates so he can get a draft date set. Only six teams have done it so far. Let's make it easier for him and go ahead and submit your dates for him as he requested. Trying to get a draft date can be a pain for a Commish, so I'm sure he would appreciate a quick response to selecting your dates on Doodle.
