This is what I get for knocking the White Sox...they take three out of four against Cleveland.

They're on pace to win 22 games...unfathomable. And this isn't 'let's go all Oakland As style' either. They have the highest payroll in the division.

I was way low when I said the Sox would lose only 104...

Bieber to undergo Tommy John surgery, out for the season. Huge blow to the Guards. Really liked their chances this year. This one stings.

Happy Opening Day! A lot of AL Central talk, I'm loving it. I'm a Twins fan living in Minnesota so I'm liking what Taco is saying. I do think the Twins will squeak it out in a three team race with Detroit and Cleveland in the last week of the season. Good luck everyone!!!

Happy (stateside) opening day! For all who gamble…good luck!
Twins win Central by 6+ games…Pablo Lopez for AL Cy Young…Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani are the top three NL MVP vote getters…and after all is said and done…the Minnesota Vikings still don’t win the Super Bowl

Happy Opening Day. White Sox lose 104 games. The Tigers win the AL Central. The Padres win the NL West. Juan Soto wins his first MVP. Paul Skenes wins NL Rookie of the Year. I lose a lot of money betting on Eloy Jimenez to hit homeruns each game.

I drafted too many prospects. Looking to move 3-4 of the following guys for MI help and 3B/OF depth: Cade Horton ($1), River Ryan ($1), Coby Mayo ($1; 1B/3B eligible), Marcelo Mayer ($1), Masyn Winn ($4; 2B/SS eligible), Chase Delauter ($1), Hurston Waldrep ($2), Orelvis Martinez ($1; 2B/SS/3B eligible).

The draft is now complete. You may put players up for auction, cut players and make trades. Have fun. Thank you all for a good and well ordered draft.
-
This is a reminder that we are drafting today at 4 PM EST. Please come prepared. There is no automatic lock out, but I will be monitoring the draft closely. I will intervene if you miss your nomination regularly. Have fun. See you soon.

That’ll work

Okay, I can make Saturday, March 9 at 4 PM eastern happen. Is there any problem with that date and time?
-
If Saturday, March 9 is to be the date of the draft, I'd like to make the same request I do each year and have been accommodated-thank you for that . I work on Saturdays until 2;00 pm central time, I would prefer that the draft begin at 4:00 pm eastern time. Also, my choice would be a slow draft for pretty much similar reasons.

March 9 at 12 EST works for me very well. But 3 or 4pm EST would be okay here in Europe as well. Sunday would be an option, too. At doodle I checked the first two choices for Sunday as well. Cheers ✌️

That works for me

Okay, if the Second Saturday in March is important, how about March 9 at 12 Noon EST?
-
@Nippes: you're right, we set the second Saturday of March as our permanent draft date (back in Nov 2019 - found the post after searching my inbox). We followed suit in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. I think we should do the same this year. I'll fill out the doodle poll nonetheless, but I think our default should be 3/9, unless there is unanimous consent to change. Moving forward, I suggest we post the draft date at the start of every offseason, particularly for the benefit of new joiners.

The Doodle poll to choose a date and time is here:

The times bounce around a fair because that's my life these days. We have an owner in Europe, so please consider morning and afternoon times.
-
I'm not a tradionalist. Doodle poll coming up.
-
As I recall it, we always drafted on 2nd Saturday in March. At least since I am part of the league that was draft day. Accordingly March 9th would be draft day. Or am I completely wrong?
-
Do we have a draft date locked in yet? The sooner the better

I don't have a strong preference. I'd just like to be available for the draft. I'm out of town Fri 3/15 - Sun 3/17 for a family wedding and doubt I can make the draft then. Pretty sure we've historically used that weekend.

I am ok with slow draft but I do like the auction in it's current format. It seems to be when I make my worst decisions. My preference is the traditional auction

If you are interested, you can go to https://www.couchmanagers.com/ and look at a slow draft in progress. Auction drafts are on the right. A draft with a $400 budget is likely to be an Ottoneu draft. Don’t expect a lot of action, because it’s a slow draft.
-
How exactly would a slow draft work for an auction like this? I'm probably more in favor with a regular draft but if a slow draft works for everyone else I'm not entirely opposed.
-
I’m in favor of a slow draft.

Hey! That sounds interesting given the managers' different time zones. For example, I live in Cologne, Germany. What would the slow draft look like? Cheers
-
It’s draft time! Is there interest in having a slow draft through Couchmanagers? I am prepared to run a slow draft if the league wants to do that.
-
And I just renewed. Will get roster compliant by tomorrow. Go White Sox

Hi All - Just want to apologize for falling off the face of the earth, especially to some folks I was in trade talks with. I was in the middle of closing the biggest deal in our company's history with folks in all 4 time zones so my time and energy was on that, with whatever left over for my kids. And I guess a few minutes with my wife, if you know what I mean (sex). I'm through the hard stuff so should be back to being an attentive manager. Once again, sorry for anyone I left hanging.

This is a reminder that renewals must be done by midnight of Wednesday, January 31. There are six teams that have not renewed. Also, by midnight Wednesday, teams must have 40 or fewer players whose salaries add up to $400 or less. There are only seven teams, seven!, with that problem. Thank you.

Welcome to the new owner of Big Papi. He’s a good player who I know from a few other leagues.

Thanks for the welcome! I have taken a closer look at the rules and league setup and I think it will work great, I'm not in any other daily lineup leagues. The boring game was my pitiful Golden Gophers vs Ohio State...37-3.
