Hi everyone, I found us a new prospective owner to take Gunslinger's place. Michael Piascik (mcpie97) is a three-year Otto-vet with two other teams. He is looking for an active, but chill, league. All in favor?

There are definitely people on the Otto slack that would proxy if you ask

Iβve got several openings across my leagues that have been slow to fill. In those situations I usually just have someone proxy arb (a volunteer to be temporarily added to the team to do arb).
-
Hi everyone, I still haven't found a replacement for Gunslinger. I asked him if he could stick around for arb, but haven't heard back. If I don't get a replacement in before the deadline, how would everyone like to proceed? Normally, it doesn't take this long to fill a slot.

Sorry to see Gunslinger depart! I'll be working on a replacement owner ASAP, so let me know if you have anyone you can recruit.

Iβm trying to cut some leagues, I will not be returning next season. Thanks for the opportunity this year
-
We have enough votes, the Strikeouts will be retained!

Still a number of teams who need to comment on the proposed rule changes. Head over to Slack to see the conversation!

Letβs keep the Strikeouts.
-
I also vote in favor of retaining the Strikeouts. He put forth a good faith effort at the end of the season and picked up some speculative pieces, as a rebuilder should do. OK, that's six votes!
Regarding the proposed rules changes, let's all head over to the Slack channel, which is a much better platform for rules discussions. Thanks for the engagement, everyone, it keeps this league healthy and fun!

I could see voting on a switch from a points threshold to a caps-related threshold manager vote
Iβm also in favor of keeping arbitration in place
Keeping the standard Ottoneu rule set in place keeps the league OPL eligible and makes it easier to recruit a replacement manager if one of us has to drop out due to unforeseen life stuff happening
-
Another vote in favor of Strikeouts staying on
-
Big Whiskey votes to retain The Strikeouts.
-
I likewise vote for him to stay. I wouldnβt be opposed to lowering the threshold as suggested, but I do think itβs important for arbitration to stay in place.
-
The K-man is welcome to remain a Bull D, but I suggest a team that doesn't meet 14k in 2024 (or any later year) forfeits its arbitration $$ for the next season. I personally hate Otto arbitration; it is nowhere near the mlb 3 year service requirement, and it overly hammers good rookies that someone found.

However, I personally hate the 14k rule. Could we change it to be 90% completion towards max IP and max GP? That'd mean averaging 145 games at each position and 1350 IP. If a team gets that, they are engaged throughout the season and actively managing, which is the heart behind the rule in my thoughts. You could suck like I did last year, but that didn't mean I wasn't engaged. Just a thought!
-
I'm good with him staying. Let's run it back!
-
Alright, folks, we have a business item to attend to. The Fascist Strikeouts had a valiant last-month surge but fell just short of the 14,000 point relegation threshold. This triggers a retention vote. I've spoken with Kevin and he would like to come back. Six votes in favor of his return are required or we will find a replacement owner. You may vote publicly or privately via DM to me.

Congrats, Rose!

Congrats!
-
This was by far the most exciting end-of-season race I've been a part of! Thanks for the congrats Caimans!
-
A race that close means teams pull out all the stops, whether through deals, creative roster management, or last week SP blockades. Very entertaining to see what is really possible when Otto-managers leave it all on the field. A thrilling finish and I can't wait until next year!

In the words of the great Harry Caray, "Holy Cow!" What an incredible finish to the season, Bull Durhamites! Congratulations to Rose in the Front for a remarkable three-peat as champion, but a tip of the cap to all the teams at the top for a wild season-long battle for the crown.

Yeah, all I could do this weekend was be that infielder standing with a foot on the baseline, hoping to slow down the runner barreling around third.
This league has been a blast, thanks everyone!
-
Dang it, Triangles, I just KNEW that Rosenberg-Boyle matchup was going to be tons of points! Glad to see a few SPs get through the blockade though, LOL.

Not gonna lie - if I lost due to 4-5 no-hitters happening on the last day of the season I wouldn't even be mad - that'd be amazing lol
-
I just need, like, 4-5 no-hitters and Iβll be right there!
-
Been a fun race to the end - good luck to us all but hopefully slightly more luck for me π
-
Thanks for the clarification. I'm at $391 base right now and didn't want to blunder into an illegal scenario this weekend.
-
Loans are legal. Basically, if your roster would be legal during the regular season, you are fine headed into the postseason.

Iβd think any loans would legally increase your cap. We just donβt want anyone adding thirty $1 guys to their roster on the last day (unless theyβve got 30 open spots and $30 to spare).
-
Regarding budget overages: Does that mean base salaries need to be at or under $400?
Or does cap status as of 10/1 (including penalties, loans in, loans out) determine whether or not a team is over going into the post-season?
-
Friendly reminder that all teams must enter the post-season period with a legal roster. No budget overages or players beyond the limit (60-day is ok) or you will be required to make cuts.

Great race at the top.
-
Only 900 more points to go till 14.000. That's my goal for 2023.
-
Anyone mind if we just end the season now? π
-
Iβm open to trading anyone tonight - Iβm on a flight until 9pm EST so wonβt be able to check in all that much but after Iβll be ready to make any moves if anyone is interested :)
-
Anyone interested in Machado?
-
Just a friendly reminder that the trade deadline is this coming Thursday. Get those last minute deals done!
