"Between the end of arbitration and the keeper deadline, players may be cut or traded. After the keeper deadline and before the auction draft, teams may not cut or trade any players."
Practically, the guys not cut by the 1/31 deadline are our keepers and the cut guys can be nominated in the draft. So, if you need a catcher you'll know who can be nominated and how many league rosters are likely to bid against you. So there's still time for that trade of mine you just rejected, Brandt!
-
What does the keeper deadline mean? Does that mean we have to make all final cuts by 1/31?

Still listening on one of Verlander, Carrasco, Salazar, Martinez, and Quintana as well as one of Profar, Gyorko, and Kang. Looking to get back good RP's and/or OF's back.

Looking to trade away one of my SP's and might be willing to trade one of Profar, Gyorko, and Kang as well for well-priced OF, RP, and cheap C help (possibly would listen to 1B as well depending on who is offered).

I'm listening on $40 Strasburg, $10 Britton, and $5 Osuna. I'm interested in hitters w/ surplus value now and going forward.
-
With the trade I just accepted I am even more willing to part with Lester/Cueto, looking for OF/3B or cheaper pitching

I am looking to move Trout or Sale for an upside arm that is already in the Show and should start the year in the rotation.

I'm shopping Harper/Altuve/Cano/Bautista/Cueto/Lester/Kimbrel, if you're willing and able to take on some $ I'm looking to pick up some cheap keepers.

I don't want you thinking I was judging you for that trade, Whiskey. I firmly believe that everyone can manage their own team however they want. It certainly was not a trade that will change the league's outcome materially. Sounds like it was well thought out and really fantasy should be fun. Last season was my first year of Ottoneu, it is definitely a learning process. I was not use to the wide variety of trades here compared to my local ESPN keeper league. Totally different.

Just use that Machado money spared and research skills to draft the next Machado for $5 and you'll have won the trade. Easier said than done, of course.
-
Yeah Whiskey, I completely agree. Also, we all have our own internal evaluations and in the end it's one deal. Remember when everyone killed the Royals for the Wil Myers trade? It worked out.
-
Maybe it was a bad trade, and I didn't get enough for a premium asset like Machado. However, according to the resources I was able to find, Jansen provided nearly as much value as Machado ($34.3 vs $37) last year for a much smaller salary (currently $23 vs $39). Is that likely to be the case again this year? Maybe not, the current projections don't think so, but I highly doubt the difference will be enough to shift the competitive balance of the league.
-
It sort of organically happened because I'm not out and out looking to trade him but I am listening to a couple offers on Arenado. If y'all are interested we can talk. I cannot stress enough that it's going to take a lot to pry him from me.
-
To be honest, I wasn't sure if I should have made the Machado trade. Not because of the specifics, but because of my inexperience and the preliminary nature of the projections out there. But I've read a ton on ottoneu articles and listened to the podcasts so at some point I had to start playing the game. That's what this is, a game. So if I make some mistakes, so be it, I'm learning and having fun.
-
I've proposed a trade of Buxton, Swanson, Forsythe, and Lackey. Just so you all know that my surplus value guys are available for other surplus value guys that I like more. Cheers, all.
-
Proud owner of $3 Senzel approves this message. Lock for future hall of famer.
-
I know I am new to the league, but I don't think that Machado trade was that egregious. I would not have done it, but each team values players differently. I assume no collusion was involved, so it's all good to me. I am in a league where someone traded Miggy for Senzel today. That is way more indefensible in November to me than this Machado trade. No, Justin, this is not an invitation for you to send me Jesse Winker or A.J. Puk for my Miggy in this league, haha.

I also feel like if we feel a trade is an issue we should discuss it here or on the slack channel during the pending grace period. And yeah, I asked Niv and we can't re-open allocation.
-
And Brandt I will say that I preferred the Machado side, but he's not a Corey Seager value and you can see the idea behind whiskey jacks wanting to free some salary. Personally, I only veto if I think there is collusion or unreasonableness. And I think it's a reasonable strategy for Whiskey to free up money to seek value at the draft. I do want to emphasize that every trade can be vetoed and each member should vote "veto" on any trade they think rises to unreasonableness. Cheers, all.
-
A quick look at owner tools seems to show no way to reopen allocation. So whether we should do it seems moot.
-
No on reopening arbitration for me. It wouldn't be fair to anyone that's made moves now.

I like to drink on Saturday nights, but I am saying no as well. It has come to my attention that my team didn't allocate. I am good with that though. I selected to join this league based on my team's current salaries, so I don't need two extra teams that didn't do it in time dinging Lindor some more.

I completely agree with you Miguel. 100%.
-
Not sure I agree with more arbitration. Trades have been made. Sorry for the teams that missed it, but it's unfair to have a team get more arbitration dollars after a few trades have already gone by.
-
And we can't "reopen" arbitration but the teams that didn't allocate can email me or Watkins their allocations and we can manually add them. I'm voting no on reopening only because deals have been made. I'll put you down for a yes Brandt.
-
I have no problem letting the league vote to let the 3 teams that missed arbitration to allocate. I'm not sure how it was missed by anyone that was active...I even had someone cover arbitration for Pollocks. As far as the Machado deal goes you can dislike it but it's a trade that was made in good faith and anyone that wanted to could have vetoed. I think veto should only be invoked if there's collusion and there wasn't any in that one so I voted to approve.
-
I don't know if Arbitration can be reopened. It is a site wide period. It really sucks that 3 teams did not allocate, but I recall emails being sent by Lucky Strikes when it opened and prior to closing. Not much the commish can do to go beyond that.
-
Maybe I got previous trades confused. So perhaps they were fine. But the Machado deal was rediculous.
-
Also I want to voice my displeasure with the Machado deal. That was a lopsided deal. Brantley didn't even play last year and has huge injury concerns for next year and Jansen is good but not exactly an amazing value at $23. Whiskey Jacks is new and has made some extreme moves, many which have been very questionable. I am not trying to be a thorn in the side of the league but that was such a terrible deal that effects the rest of the league.
-
Can you reopen the arbitration? It gives other teams a huge advantage if 3 teams did not allocate. I feel with the many changes that took place towards the end of the season that communication wasn't as sound and definitive as it was in the past. Just with so much uncertainty I don't think everyone was on the same page. I urge an exception and a reopen so the three teams can allocate to ensure a fair league.
