So does anyone want MVP Nelson Cruz before the deadline?

I am in first, doesn’t mean I can’t state that I don’t like the massive loan feature. I have said this 100 times so not sure my point of “I love this league” has been understood by anyone. And wanting to make the league even more lovable is not a bad thing. I built my team without loaning to anyone, I cut salary, grabbed some young-ins through trades and have placed all 3 years. So again, I just think loans should at least be lowered to where you can’t have $600. My team is barely ab
-
Am I drunk or is the guy in first place with loans mouthing loans? You know what would fix all the crying... 10 keepers in a dynasty league... oh wait. There's nothing wrong with Ottonue guys.. sure HRs are killer right now because of juiced baseballs. I wouldn't be surprised to see scoring adjusted on that by the creator at some point. However, you won't find a better dynasty league structure. If you don't like it, you're the problem and should play in a free ESPN redraft league next year.
-
So I think the last part of my message got cut off. I just wanted to say I may not always get along with you all as owners, but I wanted to say We Still <3 You Guys.
-
i’m short - yes, in order to win ottoneu you have to take on massive loans... this should leave your team absolutely crippled the next year and way out of contention... the fact this doesn’t happen to the winning team speaks volumes to the other owners in the league
-
to next year. Nonkeeper leagues offer no incentive to trade assets if your season is over and normal dynasty keeper leagues have to trade players for players to get trades done. In Ottoneu, $ becomes another asset and gives the advantage to losing teams to help them rebuild. Finally, without loans or player $ certain players would never get traded. In my other 2 other keeper leagues, no one would every give up Trout or Scherz. Ottoneu gives owners the opportunity to acquire any player they want.
-
First off I think you are just wanting a league that does not have $ attached to players. That's fine, I'll go back to what I said "Ottoneu maybe isn't for everyone." Second, we need loans because our teams are near a max salary, so for trades to work you're not only asking to match up talent value but also match up $ so that teams stay under salary cap. Third, loans keep every team active even if they are in last place. By allowing anyone to trade their unused talent or $ they can hel
-
I bet in the 7 years in this league no team has won without receiving a big loan or 2. Would be way more fun to see people win without receiving money.
-
Catching up on all of this, but yes smart owners should not pay way over value for prospects but these expensive prospects that just got out of auction keep getting moved for current studs players so you never know what owners will agree to. It also takes a month to reauction a player you cut so it's a slow grind to get your money back and you don't have that money to bid earlier in the season. Also you all have broadcast that strategy to owners who had no idea they could do that haha
-
explain to me why we don’t need definitions of market efficiency for ottoneu when we want to take away loans? honest question
-
But you shouldn’t be able to cut a guy and get him for half price and eventually get it to where you only have $1 invested toward him. I don’t think we need definitions on market efficiency, this isn’t that deep haha
-
just a fun food for thought opinion on the ottoneu economics for your sunday night :)
-
eventually most all players will converge on their average price across all ottoneu leagues... definition of market efficiency from investopedia lol Market efficiency refers to the degree to which market prices reflect all available, relevant information. If markets are efficient, then all information is already incorporated into prices, and so there is no way to "beat" the market because there are no under- or overvalued securities available.
-
another way of looking at the cutting players and getting money back if they are picked up... 1) it’s an incentive to stay active and participate.. the advantage is there for all 12 owners to get a few dollars back every 30 days and 2) it creates market efficiencies.. if i don’t want a player at $16 but someone does want them at $8, then it makes you think twice about cutting them.. otherwise there’d be a whole stack of FAs that could never be picked up if that guy was still $16 after bein
-
Honestly really? At $7 I wouldn't trade for him. Salary was a reason I passed on some trades. When players are 4+ over their value, I tend to abstain so I can use that value elsewhere.
-
haha i know! prospects are going for insane amounts! i think everybody is just playing defense tho since they know they can trade any and all prospects at any time
-
$7 for a guy in rookie ball? I will def make sure to use my arbitration $$'s on him over the offseason. :) haha
-
I bitch about the draft experience every year. Ask Gregg. I don't understand how they don't have a good search function of available players. I love the auction part!
I agree with I'm Short about how you could buy a player for $16 and then add/drop them 3 times in a season and get half your money back. It is annoying to me.
Loans on trades I have no issue with.
Ottoneu is where I like playing. Especially with an entire league who is involved. I'm just airing my grievences is all :)
-
While we’re at it can we make it so that homeruns aren’t the only thing that matters in the league

Idk about all the elements haha. I think being able to drop guys and get all but $1 back on them is a bit dumb and giving out $300 worth of loans isn’t great, but every other feature is terrific. So just complaining about some minor problems that have allowed for me and you to be in first, that’s all. But hey I’m cool with whatever the league wants.
-
I'm not trying to be bent out shape, and I'm sorry if I've come across that way. I just don't understand why you'd play in a format and then try to change all of the elements of that format. To me it just sounds like you want to play in a regular ol' snake draft dynasty league except it focuses on player independent scoring. With no auction, arbitration, or loans, players don't move and it gets stagnant. Ottoneu is not designed for league customization so if its features are not for everyone.
-
Yeah same, love the league, just think some minor changes should be made (if possible). That’s all.
-
Choo... speaking for myself here.
Every format has its flaws. I like ottoneu because of the dynasty and the scoring. Not a fan of a portion of the $$ format or the draft experience, but I still like the league overall.
I enjoy hearing other people's thoughts on the league and not getting bent out of shape if they think differently than I.
-
think about it owners... if you keep trading for prospects that the top teams pick up AND give them money, then it frees up roster spots for the top teams to continue to pick up prospects and flip them.. but if you as an owner do your own research and bid on your own prospects then prospects the top teams have would just take up roster spots and money.. you should only trade for absolute stud prospects.. otherwise there’s PLENTY of other prospects out there to get for $1 AND not trade your stu
-
If you don't like the format of the fantasy baseball league you chose to play in then why are you playing in it? There's plenty of different leagues out there. I feel like you shouldn't complain about the structure of the rules if you decided to choose Ottoneu.
-
peeps... get smarter... there is nothing wrong with the economics of ottoneu... it is the owners in the ottoneu league
-
Lickety I’ve said that for 3 years now, it’s awful. No one agreed with me on it, so I shut my mouth.
-
I'm Short, if we stop allowing loans then we should stop allowing getting money back by adding players that have been previously dropped. Reduce the advantage of very poor player additions.
-
Loans, Loans, Loans. Can we please get rid of loans. They are a terrible feature in this league. Have said this since the beginning. It allows the best teams to stay the best. You will never see a team win the league without getting major loans, it’s impossible.
-
the adley trade is a great trade... i think it’s pretty fair... it just was the straw that broke the camels back in a recent run of trades involving prospects that the acquiring team didn’t even bid on within the last week... please pay attention owners
-
i’m not calling anyone out.. cause that’s EXACTLY what i am trying to do and why i am acquiring tons of prospects... but please other owners, pay attention and bid on prospects that you want... if you don’t win the bid and still want to trade that’s fine... but not even bidding and then trading for that player is awful and will have us back at the 10 keeper max rule to try to level the playing field sooner than later
-
i understand that ottoneu takes a lot of time and it’s not for everyone... but please, if you are going to trade for prospects that were literally JUST put up for auction... please pay attention and bid on the prospects you want for yourself... this is how the league got so incredibly top heavy is only half the owners participating during mid season auctions and then other owners trading away their best players for the just auctioned prospects
-
fun fact: in our first league season of ottoneu in 2014, only 3 teams had an offense that averaged over 5 PPG... this season, 11 teams have an offense that averages over 5 PPG
-
Sorry for the format of that my phone didn’t copy and paste well.
-
Catcher: 130 games played
OF: 750 games played
All other positions: 140 games played
1400 innings pitched
-
I know it’s been sent a couple times but I found an email from April 8th with them in it for reference.
-
Where can we find the requirements?
-
An owner will only have to pay 1 fee equal to $10 multiplied by their final standing, no matter how many requirements they miss. Not trying to completely bankrupt people here haha. In your example, you would owe $50, even though you hypothetically missed 3 requirements.
-
Austin, I have a question regarding the minimums and the associated payments. If someone misses multiple targets is the amount of money contributed to the pool multiplied? For example if I was to miss 1B games played, OF games played and the innings pitched threshold and I finished in fifth (where I am now) would I owe $50 or would I owe $50 x3 since I missed three of the targets?
-
just wanted to say how proud i am of everyone in the league... we have 10 teams on pace to finish in what would have been the top 5 last year... i know i can get a little feisty at times (that’s a my bad) but it really is driven by just wanting a strong LEAGUE and nothing to do with me wanting to win... i just want to see our league make the ottoneu most competitive league leaderboards at the end of the year.... great job so far everybody!!!
-
The following teams have paid the $50 league fee: La Flama Blanca, Pete Rose's Hall, Slow Jack and a Ball Rub, We <3 Choo Long Time, Compulsive MasturHaders, I'm Short, Kuhl Krushers, The Lickety Splitz. I just need Schildt Happens and Southtown Sluggers to pay, and we will be good to go. Thanks guys.
-
just tossing this out there... we have a way to veto trades... can we institute a veto owner rule?
-
Where to send, and how much should we make a check out for?
-
Getting ready to make some deals and throw the towel in. If I have players you want, send offers.
-
Hey guys, please try and pay the league fee soon. I have received payments from Jason, Logan and Blake. Also, please continue to keep tabs on your games played/innings pitched. Several of you are well below pace of the requirements that have been sent out several times.
-
Wish I would win! Starting from the bottom looks to be paying out a ton missing the games played mark. (Assuming he is paying attention)
-
I'm Short's trade block has been updated!
