League Message Board

It’s November 1st which means only 14 more days (EOD 11/14) until Arbitration is over
-
This is bittersweet. Winning this year means a lot more than usual because my Uncle Rich (Cayuga Breeze) passed away. He was a huge fan of our league and we spent endless hours discussing players, trades, and strategies. He really appreciated not only the banter but the camaraderie. In his honor, I will be donating all of my winnings to the charity of his choice (the school my sister teaches at and her kids attend) from all of us. If anyone else would like to pitch in, let me know.
-
Just and FYI - There was missing hitter data from yesterday. Niv is working to resolve the issue but in his messages, he noted that he found additional missing data as far back as mid-July. There may be some mild-moderate changes in our stats once this is resolved.

Sounds good & thanks!

Definitely not operator error. The rosters lock after the Keeper deadline (no trades or cuts). The Commish might be willing/able to make cuts for you though (not to put Chris/Jake on the spot)
-
Hi everyone--
I might as well introduce myself with a dumb question: Are rosters locked ahead of the draft, or is that an operator error on my part?
Kevin--

Just an FYI - There’s a defect for the draft site that may not allow Chrome to work. Try clearing your cache and rebooting your browser or trying using another browser.

Thanks all for a great season and a great few years of fantasy baseball. I've decided not to renew for next year. Wish you all the best! Commishes can feel free to abandon my team at any time.
-
As your self-appointed Honorary Commissioner, this is your friendly reminder to get your arbitration in before 11/14!!
-
GG, maybe next year for the Grandalorians!
-
Well Done, Jake !!

You and me both Chris! Thanks guys!

I can't believe I woke up in a world where Jake won this league and his team won the AL East. Congrats!

Congrats to Jake on not sucking for once!!
-
FYI yall - SSN and address will no longer be required for paydala!
-
From what I understand, there's a pretty good chance that by the time we need to renew for baseball, SSNs may not be required.
-
I think Andy mentioned fantrax to me at one point. Wioukd be worth a look.

If we wanted to move sites, I’ve used Fantrax for Fantasy Hockey and it’s decent. I poked around quick and we could pretty much “lift and shift” this league there with few (if any) interruptions.
-
Yikes - can we move the league elsewhere? I read his thread and I understand why, but SSN for non-pay league may be a bridge too far for me too
-
Just a heads up, I read up on this new payment processor requiring SSN info. If that is the case, I will not be participating. Giving my SSN to a new company for a no-prize league is a deal breaker for me. I'm happy to play the season out, but I will not renew. Thought I'd give you all notice.
-
I think that was the most active trade deadline we’ve had ever!
-
Trade deadline approaching y'all! Get those deals in.

Today was a bold day to list Wander Franco on the trade block.

Just for posterity’s sake: I approved that trade.

Here’s where my heads at with this: I’m in last place and truly in the midst of a multi-year rebuild. I get the feeling that owners are more apathetic towards teams clearly “winning a trade” if that team is lower in the standings. Also, I sent you and Jake very similar offers within minutes of each other. You countered a few times, Jake accepted (albeit a couple days later). If you had accepted my trade of Luis Castillo and Lucas Giolito for Albies and DL Hall, would we be having this convo?
-
Because Freeman wasn't my only target. Like I said before, I made moves in anticipation of working out a deal. I traded middle infield depth in anticipating of making a deal to bring depth back. I was giving up young controllable talent to SteveCohen for win-now pieces that hurt my future chances of winning. Much like the Burnes for Albies trade.
One gets apathetic approval and the other gets unanimously vetoed.
-
I think you and Jake are too far apart on both opinion as well as how you objectively view players. I personally did not have a problem with this deal, I can't speak for anyone else. At the end of the day, you were still able to swing an objectively good trade for Freeman that, in my opinion, was not lopsided, so why all of the complaining?

The problem is I feel there's inconsistent treatment regarding trades in this league. Burnes is consistently a couple rounds higher in dynasty rankings, and Burnes at $8 is much more valuable than Albies at $19, making this trade lopsided in favor of Monongahela Monsters. And yet nobody vetoed it except me, once again with no discussion whatsoever.
-
Didn't you answer your own question? First, those trade analyzers are essentially useless in dynasty leagues. Like you said yourself though, pitchers like Burnes are valued at 5x his salary, so what is the problem?
-
Or maybe the difference here is there's nobody behind the scenes campaigning to block this trade, which would be a shitty thing to do, especially in a prize league.
-
So literally everyone else in the league vetoed my trade with SteveCohen, but nobody else thought $8 Burnes and Gavin Stone for Albies was lopsided? I ran the trade through the same analyzer and found the same 10% variance, and that's not taking account the salary differences, which feel more stark here in a game where similar top pitchers are valued at 5x Burnes's salary. I guess I'm just very wrong in how I value players, or using different analyzer tools maybe?
-
If I see a deal that I feel is lopsided I generally veto it. That deal was lopsided to the point of comedy, so I vetoed. I also always veto any trade that Jake is involved in, but that's just because it is Jake.

If you can rework the deal to correct some of the flaws, I would be more inclined to approve the trade (but to be honest, I veto just about every trade haha)
-
Boy do I feel like a real life Stevie Cohen right now lol.
-
I thought the trade had its purpose for both of us. I was taking a hit this year in a year my dumb ass missed the draft to get high value young players i wanted to build around next year instead of parting ways with those players in different trades and keeping a guy who hits 380 and gets only 50 rbis a year. I get you all saying the cash was unfair but it's a Dynasty league I was trying to creatively setup myself for next year while getting rid of a $45 32 year old Freddie Freemans.
-
I vetoed because I didn't think it was even remotely a fair trade. It's the only trade I've ever vetoed playing ottoneu (3 leagues, 10 years)
-
I voted yes for the trade. While I don’t think the trade is balanced, I don’t think that the purpose of vetoing a trade is to protect managers from bad trades.
The cash definitely makes it WAY more lopsided, but if someone isn’t planning on keeping a $45 Freeman, the talent return for him was decent.

I will speak for myself and no one else - I vetoed the trade because I think @TheRealSteveCohen is giving up two top 10 players at their position as well as $25 in cap space for a group of average to above average players. I treat cap space as a commodity so when someone gives up $25, I would expect them to get something big in return. In this case, it’s just not there (in my opinion).
-
I've literally never won fantasy baseball. I've made moves this year to win now, that hurt me long term. I've traded Volpe and Elly at $10 each and Xander at $8 for more expensive talent. Now I worked out a trade for a $45 Freeman. I can't keep this team next year. What's the harm in letting me go for it?
-
The league just isn't active enough for me to buy all 8 of you independently decided to veto with no discussion.
-
I'm still frustrated. I made moves in anticipation of making a trade around a 3b for a 1b and picking up mi depth. I didn't bid on guys that I would have otherwise. I just don't see this trade being unfair. Even running through analyzers it's within 10% variance and that's before salary considerations. I've never ever seen a trade vote with 100% participants. That it came with no public discussion makes me think there was someone private messaging asking everyone else to veto.
-
I understand how the veto system works, I'm just doubting that 8 owners (some without daily activity) all arrived at veto without any discussion whatsoever. Nobody bothered to ask why Steve or I thought the trade was fair.
-
No discussion is needed, all trades are subject to league approval.

Wait, so all 8 owners not involved with the trade vetoed it without any public discussion or opportunity for Steve and I to explain the trade?
-
So where do we stand for the two team openings and potential draft dates? I'd prefer sooner rather than later
-
Looking to make a move for another closer ahead of the deadline, message me!
-
All, the arbitration deadline is TODAY! Please get your $ in or you will lose it!
-
What a year, congrats on the win!!! That was quite the finish and a pretty Metsian end for me.
-
Thanks Jake! There was lots of drama and there were several lead changes over the course of roughly 4 hours yesterday!! I probably refreshed my screen over a hundred times between 4 PM and 8 PM! Kudos to RealSteve for showing the rest of it how it was done virtually all summer ... he's a very formidable competitor and it could have gone either way at the end!!
