CBs was not to be denied!

The slider is very effective against batters with a high leg-kick. Changeups are great against hitters with a high launch angle. Now pitch selection/calling is even more random, you can get the best hitter out by throwing 7 straight sliders. Albeit it isn't efficient for pitch counts, but it drastically reduces the best opposing hitter.
-
I love MLB because of the randomness, and the elite skills required to even play in a bench-role. The book isn't written on Baseball yet like Chess, Football, and basketball. Still new moves and strategies have been discovered in recent history that has really given a lot of advantages to pitchers instead of the hitters.
-
Bar none, MLB pitching and the game itself, pitchers have to have some advantage. Free of PED, amphetamines, and sunscreen, Manfred "unjuiced" the ball or whatever god knows what modification. For the sake of argument, let's assume the ball isn't juiced, and hitters are suffering the hangovers of steroid-era built stadiums; pitchers plus data-back defensive shifts have too much of an advantage.
-
Classic solution is to lower the mound a bit, but that can drastically affect pitchers who are not 6'4".
If the average throwing velocity reaches 95mph, may have to move the mound back beyond the 60'6" mark. History has proven these tweaks brought some balance to the game.
-
Not sure there’s a good solution to “the pitchers are too good” unless you Harrison Bergeron the fuck out of them

That’s…a lot of change you’re proposing there. I’m not sure I agree with the premise that the shift is causing hitters to hunt home runs. The increase in TTO preceded widespread use of the shift

thought i made the cutoff *afic = aficionados. I didn't have text reserves for "real baseball fans"...
-
I grow weary of Manfred tinkering with the ball to produce game-neutrality or balance etc.
-
Why the change? Because defensive shifts are momentum-killers especially two-out situations. Thus why batters have elected to swing for the fences than hit into a known-out.
Having said that, if a team with 0 outs turn a double play and reach 2 outs. The defensive team can not alter their shift, or remain neutral. Like defensive zoning rules. This enables some game theory elements for baseball. This 2 out-no shift rule needs some tinkering, thought I crowd-source this one from afic

I'm posting here first, not letting Manfred getting a whiff on my ideas to improve MLB. He's the commissioner and he hates baseball. Need feedback though.
Bring in the fences especially centerfield 15-20 feet pending altitudes and climates.
Reduce the fences so OF'ers with athleticism and speed can chase down the outs in homerun territories, however if they fail to catch the ball it is an automatic HR.

Ha. CM churning out the 80 grade team names.

Gotta love it when you have your first 200 pt day in a while and don't move a single spot in the standings. This season has been GREAT.

https://chng.it/5YsRdScKVN --> Rob Manfred sucks. Dead ball.

I hope everyone had a great Opening Day!

LA Dodgers went Boom with Freddie Freeman. And the A's do not like contending.

I need some OF help if anyone is looking to deal

Just a heads up, my daughter had a last minute soccer game scheduled for tomorrow at the exact same time as our draft...and of course it's out of town, so I will be on the road. I plan on drafting, but I will be on my phone. I will do my very best to make sure I make all my noms, but please bear with me. Thanks in advance!
-
Yes! Just in time. Hopefully we’ll learn about some big free agent signings before the draft starts.
-
I'm so glad we are going to have baseball!! Looking forward to this season. See you all at the draft!

Hey all - Figured I'd share a reminder in case you're like me and haven't been thinking much about baseball lately. The draft is this weekend! Looking forward to seeing you in the draft room Saturday at 3pm EST.
-
Friendly reminder the deadline to cut any players ahead of the auction is tomorrow at 11:59 PM EST!

Thanks all that have voted. It looks very much like Saturday, March 12 will be our date. I will pencil it in for 3pm ET / noon PT since this is the most optimal time for everybody at this point. If nobody has any conflicts with this, we can finalize it this weekend.

It's always a challenge to get all 12 managers calendars aligned, so please, please try to be as flexible as you possibly can with your availability. Will confirm date and time by the end of this weekend so that we all can plan accordingly. Thank you!
-
Hey all - Good news! Everybody here is paid through 1/2023. Now we just need an auction date and, of course, an end to the lockout! I will drop a Doodle link here in just a moment with 3 options for dates, each date will include 3 different options for start times (noon ET/9AM PT, 3PM ET/noon PT and 6PM ET/3PM PT).

Always good to hear other points of views and perspectives. Thanks guys.

Id echo YJ's sentiments. Seems totally reasonable to me. Ohtani is polarizing in how people value him so it's understandable some might disagree on whether it's lopsided in either direction. These are two experienced managers though, so the key for me is there clearly was no collusion.

I have a personal preference, as I’m sure anyone would, but it seems eminently reasonable to me in both directions

Wow. The Ohtani trade seems rather lopsided even for an MVP. Would love to hear other opinions outside of the trading teams and outside my own to consider other points of view.
-
Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to a busy trading season. I will update my trade block shorty, but everyone can be had for the right price. Although, I have never had Ohtani before, so he will be the hardest to pry away from me.

Welcome, sir

All, please welcome Travis who is taking over for RBR. I've played with him in another league for the past couple years. He's going to be an awesome addition here.
-
Recently, I too sent a msg to RBR as well. The inactivity says something happened. Dude went all out during the season, then flatlined. Nevertheless, he was on pace for a minimum finish of 2nd. Hope he stays.
-
That works

Hey all. Just wanted to give you a heads up that I just sent RBR a message asking if he plans to rejoin us for 2022. He hasn't logged in since Sep and was the only team to miss arbitration. If there there are no objections from any of you, I will give him to the end of the week to respond (would be 2.5 months without logging in). If we don't hear back I will open his team up to be claimed.

I’ll definitely get it done. I usually wait until the last day.

BPM has a new owner who promptly dropped $3 of arb on me. Not sure if that's best way to butter up the commish, but looks like he's on top of it:) We only have 3 outstanding teams: RBR, H4B and WD. H4B and WD have both logged in recently so they have a handle on it. RBR - heads up that arbitration closes in a few days. I'll be traveling next week up until the holiday, so an early Happy Thanksgiving all!

Arbitration: did BPM participate in the arbitration or negated to zero?
-
Thanks fellas. Was a strange season with so many on Covid lists, but glad we got the full 162 in. Should be a fun postseason. May all your key players be healthy and stay out of the news (Bauer, I'm looking at you)! YJ, the Yanks are going down tomorrow!
-
Congratulations to CC for dominating the season. A Plumber expects to participate next season and hopes that 1/3 of the roster isn't IL'd at the same time again.
-
Lost Degrom and Bauer and still won. Impressive feat. Congrats AGAIN!
-
Congrats to the new guys at JaBO for placing in their first season! WTF's feat is especially impressive completely turning over a team that finished at the bottom last year and wasn't exactly stacked coming into this one. Well done WTF and RBR!
-
Will not be returning in this league next year, GL to all and let's hope we have an exciting baseball fall season

LeagueI created in $20 Ottoneu Fantasy Football league called Dingleberry Circus. It is Flex (WR/RB/TE) + Superflex (QB/WR/RB/TE), 1 PPR, 1 division, top 6 make the playoffs. Draft is 9/7 @ 8:30 PM EST. Come join the party!! https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/football/invite?invite=eyJMZWFndWVJRCI6MTk0LCJJbnZpdGVySUQiOiIxMzEzOTgifQ==

Climactic ending to Sunscreen II: MLB honey pot got Bauer to publicly state he has explicit evidence of consensual relationship that can be described as 'rough' sexual encounters involving requests to be 'choked out' and slapped in the face.
-
Wonderful, now I have to be aware of the tainted pitching data...whether I am speculating the projections of sunscreen or improved mechanics or even both!
-
Being ahead on IP pace has me considering moving Cole for RP and offensive firepower. Anyone with ideas give me a shout.
