I can't speak for everyone else, but I am planning on skipping allocations and then quitting this league in late March.

Hey guys, I'll 100% allocate before the deadline.
-
I've reached out to a few of them directly, and I'm continuing to do so. All of them I either know personally or they're active on Slack.
-
Are the final five teams going to make their allocations?
-
Bah, I used to post things in iframes here, but apparently Niv has nixed that. Anyway, feel free to check that out, I pulled in the Surplus Calculator's end of year values for a quick sanity check on allocations.
-
Trying this again...
-
Hey everyone, welcome sacbillsfan, who is taking over Marc's team.
-
Adios Marc! It'll be weird not having you here, but not like we aren't in plenty of leagues together, heh.
-
After five seasons and two titles, I'm going to resign my post as president of the Hitmen. Best of luck
-
The best I can do for it being built into the site, is to embed a google sheet into the trading block note. You can see an example here: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/530/team?team=3823

I'm probably back in next year. 5MiLB sounds like a good idea in theory, and I'd be totally for it if it were actually built into the website, but checking a spreadsheet over and over seems like a giant pain, and I'm sure halfway through the season I'd make a mistake. Rather leave it how it is.
-
I did. Just wasn't sure I got 11 responses. 3 of the leagues I am in seem to have died. Just want to make sure where we stand in this one

5MiLB sounds interesting though, I'd be interested in adopting that.
-
Same for limiting the number of keepers. Baseball rebuilding inherently relies on a lot of wild cards, limiting the ability of bad teams to hold more of them doesn't sound like a great idea.
-
I really dislike the no loans idea. Removes basically the best avenue for rebuilding teams to get better.
-
Restricting keepers is interesting--especially as it's usually bad to keep too many because you're keeping too many over market assets. As a team that kept a lot last year, I agree it would have hurt me this year, but I also would have been able to load up in the auction with more money to spread around.
-
Or inflation I mean.
-
Speaking of arb, looks like it just got applied?
-
@babies you would have liked the original ottoneu format then, as it had vote-offs with a discount coupon instead of the arb system. we were given the option to move on from it after arb was created, and this league voted to move away from it. I wasn't a fan, because it really hurt teams down in the standings, in my opinion.
-
I like that idea, but clearly have no idea what I'm doing.

I've been thinking restricting the number of players to be kept each season could be a good system. Something like 15-20 players. Would make tanking less appealing because you couldn't keep 30 young/cheap guys, and dynasties might be harder to maintain because - again - you couldn't keep all those guys
-
I wouldn't mind adding a system to vote off one player per team. Maybe allow each manager to protect five players post-arbitration, then vote one off per team. It wouldn't be a devastating blow to any one team, but could help level the playing field a little bit.
-
Also, I'm in a league that does not allow loans in trades. I like that because it forces you to actually build your own team vs fleece others in trades. Not surprising that that was my only title this year
-
And I'm in the league that just added franchise tags. I voted against it because some teams can have up to 3 "franchise" players, and I didn't think it would really improve the league. Maybe I will be proven wrong .... If you are wondering, yes, I am in too many leagues :)
-
I'm in one league with coupons based on overall performance. I finished 6th this year and will get $9 in coupons to apply to players on my team who received arbitration. I think this may have been good to keep people active throughout the year; however, activity may just have been high because the league had a competitive group of owners
-
I'm in 2 leagues with 5MiLB, and I'm not crazy about the system. Similar thoughts to what Dan said. I think players in the 5MiLB group get overvalued in trades because they do not take up a roster spot. But they mostly are just lottery ticket players
-
I'll be back. I think 5MiLB and coupons sound good as well. I'd vote for them.
-
I know Marc/Southside plays in a few leagues with it, so he might have a different opinion based on experience.
-
We use 5MiLB in champs, and at first I really liked it, but the hassle of constantly having to tell people a player is owned on 5MiLB and having a split player universe has dulled my interest. I like the lottery ticket idea, and it helps keep rosters competitive, not burdened with prospects.
-
Franchise Tags are a newer concept, so none of the handful of guys on slack invited to write about ottoneu on rotographs have written about the proposal as far as I know. Basically, it awards tags in a similar manner to arbitration coupons, but then you can apply the tags to any of your players and freeze their salary by keeping them out of arbitration completely. In the version Miguel is setting up in 100, inflation still applies and the player must have been on your roster since cut day.
-
I'd be OK with 5 MiLB. It does seem like a lot of work and complex to be worth the hassle, but I won't stand against it if everyone else wants it.
-
I'd vote for 5 MiLB

This is the 5MiLB: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/ottoneu-101-the-5milb-structure/

Where can one find more info on some of those suggestions mentioned? I assume 5MiLB means a max of 5 minor league players? What are the details about franchise tags?
-
I'll be back.
-
I'll be here
-
Also, similar to last year, I'd love to hear if anyone has any suggestions for changes to make. It's been another year of innovative add-ons all over the place, from 5MiLB to coupons to Franchise Tags and eliminating the trade deadline. If anyone would like to suggest any changes, feel free.
