I bid 17 for Willingham, but got him for less somehow...
-
actually - if you bid on both Willingham/Napoli at the same time, the computer may have rejected your bid because you weren't allowed to bid on Willijgham (you cut him withi 30 days)
-
your computer hates you
-
well if you did that and clicked the bid button, then there can only be one explanation
-
I know. I bid 15 each on Willingham & Napoli

Putting a player up for auction only credits you with the minimum bid. If you want to go higher, you actually have to manually input a higher bid
-
OK I'm kinda pissed at this point, I have outbid the winner in 3 or 4 different recent auctions and don't understand why I lose. Guess hoarding cap room is a dumb strategy when ottoneu hates you for no reason

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pence's trade block has been updated!
-
Is anyone interested in Napoli for the stretch run?
-
Unfortunately, that's not a option in the league settings...

commish - re lineups, is there an option for weekly rosters (ie adds only process on sun/mon) but daily changes?

I would prefer daily leagues as well, that would be a good thing to vote on for next season. My team is horrible anyhow, no amount of roster changing can change that...

yeesh - the lineups this week are already locked - and the games aren't for 3 days???
-
not even sure that some change would need to happen. I'm OK with either allowing them or not but it does seem to be a potential issue that needs to be explicit/agreed
-
Not saying that the straw purchase happened in this case - but I saw the potential for it here because of the fast player turnaround
-
sisterhood - re the recent trade, thought about the issue I had. And it's more related to the potential for a "straw purchaser" problem in an auction - not so much the trade itself (which I rarely care about)
-
I'll send out a league email...
-
Glad I'm not the only one who would prefer daily lineups

I'm up for discussing both those and doing whatever changes in the offseason. And agree that a vote is necessary. Million-dollar problem is - how do you do anything with this smoke signal system of a single league message scroll
-
Personally, I'd like lineup moves to be everyday and the other arbitration system, but I'd need full vote participation to carry this out. If we'd like to do a vote, I'm fully in support.

Grandy- Sorry to condescend and say you weren't "super familiar" with the guys... It's hard to keep track of auctions!
-
This creates a serious disconnect and the opposite of what makes sense - ie an owner needs to check in all the time for long-term stuff that may not even matter this year -- but they can't even stick a disabled guy on the bench except once a week.
-
Sisterhood - it souds to me as if there is a structural prob here with league settings. Lineups (ie playing the game) can only be adjusted once a week - but auctions (potentially long-term meta-roster stuff) can occur at any time
-

-
Ok, got it. But yeah, I encouraged Grandy to look into these guys who he wasn't super familiar with and liked what he found.
-
Also MG I totally agree with you re: format/communication. It's tough. I admit I've been guilty of letting messages/trades sit too long as well, especially early in the year

Franco was more of a throw-in than centerpiece, I was after Polanco and Franco was the best prospect filler I was offered.

It's true that I could (and probably should) have bid on these guys when they were FAs, but since it's hard to just browse prospects given the FA list setup a lot of these guys slip through my cracks

I completely understand grandy's issue re no one replying to a trade offer on the table. I have the same issue re no one replying to any of my messages (since I prefer to discuss a trade informally before formalizing offers)
-
Ok, got it. But yeah, I encouraged Grandy to look into these guys who he wasn't super familiar with and liked what he found.
-
Mountain Goats- This is presumptuous. Trade talks didn't begin until after I had acquired the players and I encouraged Grandy to look further into them. He did, and regretted not bidding on them himself.
-
the biggest problem here is that this ottoneu format completely sucks at enabling communication
-
And I don't mean "collusion" in any sense of evil or conspiracy. I mean in the same sense that bridge players signal what they are going to do when playing bridge - but this isn't bridge
-
As a commissioner, ethics are of the utmost importance to me. And, collusion is a serious offense. Unsubstantiated claims shouldn't be bandied around without care and evidence...
-
to Sisterhood - if this particular trade was in discussion between you two when you put Polanco/Franco up for auction; then the trade as completed cannot stand in isolation. You are using the auction process to manage someone else's roster
-
My issue is twofold - to Grandy - what makes Maikel Franco not worth bidding $1 on TWO DAYS ago - when you would have gotten him for $1 and not had to give up ANYTHING for him
-
