I am pretty flexible with march and February. just can't do the weekend of February 13.
-
That's all fair, like i said, i'm fine with Feb. Just putting out my 2 cents, and while i agree that the key FA's wont be in the draft, where they sign will have downstream effects on guys possibly not on current fantasy rosters. But i guess that's what Free Agent auctions are for. Feb works, but I'd agree that Valentines is probably not the most ideal date.

Gents, whenever we draft it will be a level playing field. We will all experience the same advantages and disadvantages equally based upon timing. Given that this is a keeper / dynasty format, it does take a good bit of the variables off the table really. I'm for getting the draft date and time nailed down and am in favor of sometime in Feb if possible. Heck, let's do it this weekend. ;)
-
I think the biggest worry is the "free agents" in our league for the draft. I dont want to allocate money to a guy in February from our draft and then he has Tommy John the next week or injured in Spring Training. That's at least my biggest worry.
-
Bauer, springer, DJ, Ozuna, realmuto, cruz, hendricks, hand, etc etc. These players are more than likely not going to be in the draft anyways. Is it really worth holding up the draft and making this a headache so that we can wait to see where tanaka, paxton, JBJ and Justin Turner sign?

My thoughts are this. Its going to be incredibly difficult to time the draft for whenever MLB starts. It will be harder to schedule a day that works for everyone with a 2-3 week window (when MLB gets its act together) as opposed to a month and a half. As for FA, most of the FA that havent signed are being kept by owners regardless of where they go. The small amount that arent being kept wont be impacted that much by where they go (not like COL is adding money this year) and are mediocre anyways.

If we do February, can we not do it on Valentines Day? This is my only league so I prefer the draft to be as close to Opening Day as possible for injuries & position battles.
-
Sunday is fine. I'm also fine with Feb, all else equal, though my preference would be for mid-March. My main concern with this year in particular, is that there are likely going to be a lot of major free agents unsigned still going into Spring Training. This has been a very slow moving market thus far. Could be especially impactful when deciding amongst RP's and who is expecting to close for their new team, etc. Just my 2 cents, Feb is fine otherwise.

I'm okay with February. Doesn't have to be a Sunday though.

Also, by deciding this far in advance it allows you plenty of time to request the day off or switch shifts. For a person who works 99 percent of my weekends. i understand how it is.. ive been working weekends for 15 years.. But Im able to make one excpetion Because i know a month and a half in advance.. Maybe not the case..
-
The preseason is scheduled for the 2/27.. Which means when they start playing games it opens the door to people getting hurt, Starting jobs being decided. etc..
If we draft early, it gives us time to draft.. get our rosters organized.. make trades/roster moves..
Dont want to be scrambling three days before the season trying to figure out who i have for the season
-
For my part, I vote for a March draft. I personally feel 6 weeks before the scheduled start of the season is too far in advance. Also I would prefer almost any other night but Sunday, as I work weekends and often have to work until 10pm on Sundays.
-
Woah it’s been like a day and a half since the draft was brought up plus it’s a holiday weekend. only 3 other owners have weighed-in publicly and at least 3 teams haven’t checked in since before the New Year. I understand you want to get this in place ASAP, but can we at least hear back from a majority of the league first?
-
Also, league payments are due at the end of this month. Dont forget to pay so your team doesnt get abandoned

With the feedback Ive received from several players I made the date for the 14th of Feb as that seems to work. This will give everyone ample time to make arrangements to make it on that day. As with previous years lets try to make the date work and we can fine tune the time as needed. As always feel free to reach out to me if you need anything. This seems to be the best way to go about it rather than waiting for some kind of update from MLB. Thanks.

February works.
-
Mid february is a good idea for the draft. This way we can know who we have or still need when the season starts
-
Agree, draft season can fill up quickly. Let's roll.
-
I think a Sunday evening should be good since it won't take too long. I just figure we should just knock the draft out rather than be in a constant state of flux trying to figure out when they are going to start this year.

A Sunday evening?
-
I'm going to start planning the draft soon. Thinking about a mid-February date so we can knock this out early and give time for other drafts. Should only take an hour or two and we can do it on a Saturday or Sunday. Thoughts?

Also, please review your teams and check the salaries. I looked over everything and didnt see any errors. Please contact me with any issues by the 20th. Once we make it to the 20th I will consider the rosters valid and we can move on. Thanks everyone.

I decided to just knock it all out today while I had the day off. Please check your rosters to see if I made any mistakes. I will be going over the rosters myself tomorrow to look for any errors. Send me a PM with any potential discrepancy. That was rather tedious so I apologize in advance for any potential mistakes.

This is the link to the master list. I downloaded it from ottoneu as a .csv and loaded it into google sheets for anyone to reference. I'll be slowing making changes as I have time and the effort to do so. Feel free to reach out with any questions. So the $1 and $0 option won by a wide margin. I'll be screen capping everyone's teams over the next few minutes so I have a reference of everyones value prior to making any changes. I'll let everyone know when Im done and if you notice a mistake on your team we will reference those master lists and correct it.

I created a survey so we can decide on the salary increases. Please try and vote today as its only a couple of clicks. Whatever has the majority we will do unless there is a tie.

Now that the vote-off is settled for this year, Do we need to also vote on the salary increases $1, $2 etc? It seems silly to add $$ to everyone for 60 games.
-
My preference would be with $1 increase on MLB & $0 on MILB players. I'm fine with removing the vote off also.
-
Based on the 8 responses thus far we will be skipping arbitration vote offs for this year.

I would vote to increase the salary but skip the vote-off. This way there is at least some team turnover and a draft next year but you don’t lose one of you top players after barely having a season to use him. Without salary increase, almost everyone is under the salary and we would just be a redo a this year. Will be fine with whatever everyone else wants to do though.
-
As I’ve said previously I’m in favor of keeping both as I think they’re important for competitive balance. I also think changes to league rules should be made well ahead of time so that owners are given ample time to adjust to them. With all that said, these are merely my personal opinions and I’ll go along with whatever the majority of owners decides.
-
I agree as well on both levels. at a min on salary inflation, would be ok with $1 increase on MLB and no increase on MiLB. Not sure if that's customizable or not. otw, good with no increase and no vote off

I agree with you guys, no "vote off" this year and suspend the salary inflation for a year.
-
I definitely agree we should suspend arbitration (vote-off) for a year. I am fine either way on the salary increases.
-
I agree with that sentiment as well. Especially when you include the fact that Niv even acknowledged that arb might be a bit much this year. I'd prefer to have a consensus though

I know we had a discussion last year about it and people were against the idea of changing the league format..
But given the short season and alot injuries.. i vote we take arbritration off this year and dont increase salaries..
-
Does anyone else have any input on arbitration. It starts in a couple days

FYI Niv already banged everyone for the salary increases. We would have to change back manually.
-
With that said I would be happy to have a vote to suspend both vote-off and the $2/$1 for a year.
-
Just a reminder that this is a vote-off league not an arbitration league. The $2/player and $1/rookie still applies every year in this league.
-
If we want to vote whether we include salary increases for this year or not I would be willing to have that discussion as well. I only ask that we make that decision relatively quickly because thats going to take a bit of time on my end to get that squared away
