It's times like these where we need to be able to insert a popcorn emoji
-
Gladly. Our league will be better for it.
-
Please abandon my team. If this is allowed in this league, its only going to get worse.
-
Ironically, I am a conspiracy theorist. This reminds me of WTC Building 7 on 9/11. Don't believe the smoke and mirrors.
-
This debate is getting old quick and needs to stop. The trade was approved (4 whole days ago) so we need to move on. Writing a treatise on collusion and corruption does nothing but make the author sound like a conspiracy theorist. If an approved trade affects you this much maybe it is best that you leave the league.
-
Glad that is resolved. Just remember that life is something special https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-VCQ4vI4ek

I'm done with all of this nonsense. Goodbye and Good Luck.
-
Have you looked at the standings? There are several teams competing pretty well it looks like to me.

When Howie Kendrick comes back, Altherr will be competing with him for ABs. Most likely, Kendrick moves to 1B, while Altherr stays in LF. Altherr will cool off. Ken Griffey, Jr. hit 5 HRs in 5 games. Is Altherr the next Ken Griffey, Jr? No way. You will probably cut him after the season ends anyways. You can't compare MLB trades to fantasy baseball trades in leagues like this. That's why this is fantasy baseball. The Yankees are competing quite well, even with the Red Sox getting Sale.
-
COBRA, do you think MLB should have allowed the White Sox to trade Chris Sale to the Red Sox for just a couple prospects? The White Sox received zero MLB production in return for Chris Sale! I assume you must be outraged about Rob Manfred allowing that deal to alter the competitive balance of the American League, right? Are you surprised other American League teams haven't protested that deal? BTW, $1 Aaron Altherr has 5 HR in his last 5 games. He has outproduced all the hitters I received.

Niv has an excellent fantasy baseball product, probably the best in the business. But, his administration of his product is extremely poor. I've already been in a league that folded after only one season because of corruption and an individual creating 2 email accounts to have 2 different teams, so they could trade and make moves together, putting the entire league outcome in question. I don't believe this trade goes that far, but it doesn't set well with half the people here.
-
The bottom line here is 5 people approved the trade, 5 people vetoed and 2 obstained (most likely because they didn't check their team for a few days). The league is divided over this trade, and I'm not the only one who feels like you (who has no intention of competing this year) are putting many owners of the league at a disadvantage. Of course, there is a lot of baseball left to be played, and anything can happen. But, it doesn't set a good precedent when such lopsided trades are allowed.
-
Cobra the last trade you offered was on Jan 25. But don't let facts get in the way of your hurt feelings.
-
Don't give me this justification for your actions by saying that all of your players were available, and then, trade some of your better, more producing players to one of the top owners and then, say you are way short on IP due to injuries. Saratoga Grays would be an absolute fool to turn down that trade. I offered you prospects, but you didn't want them. I can complain you didn't trade with me because you didn't like my prospects, so don't give me this about nobody wanted to trade with you.
-
You're incorrect about the lineup. No one has actually bothered to look, but we only have 10 non-MLB players on our roster. We have 6 RP as well. Our IP is low because we have had a number of injuries including Finnegan and Paxton as well as not regularly setting our lineup, which doesn't affect anyone because it is not a roto league. No, we did not intend to compete this year, and we have been very open about this. Anyone had an opportunity to move for any of those guys and chose not to.
-
The Usual Suspects, you even admit that your trade has kept me and a good number of owners in the league from competing this year. I've never been in a league with such shady characters who try to convince themselves and the rest of the league that their moves are legit. I might be in 9th, but I have used 50-80 IP less than most of the leaders. You have used 252 IP because you simply can't field a lineup.
-
3-4 weeks if those guys are healthy it could be a runaway.
-
Hold out for what? Guys like Thor aren't available unless injured. And also, all this whining about us giving the league to Saratoga... He's not adding bulk points. Those guys have to replace someone else so the net gain is way less.
-
had some, sorry
-
dude, the point is there are 4 and a half months left don't screw the rest of us hold out a bit you got some impact guys
-
That's a cute trade block COBRA. Sorry if our trade is keeping you from competing with your ninth place team. Never been in a league with this much bitching and moaning.
-
Thanks for the update COBRA couldn't have said it better myself. Can't believe that shit went through. I have some cheaper 2018 talent for a sweetheart deal as well.

This might be a strategic time to update the trade block
-
I vetoed the trade because its obvious you can't even field a lineup and are trading some of your more proven and producing players essentially for Thor. An argument could be made that the 4 players you acquired could amount to something, but you place way too much value on Thor who right now is damaged goods and could turn into a Matt Harvey. But, everybody values players differently. My team sucks and I'm in 9th. But, I'm not throwing in the towel on May 10 with 4 and 1/2 months left.
-
By all means, if everyone thinks that this trade sucks so much veto it. And then send us all of the great offers you all think Carlos Santana, Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowitizki, and the others are worth. We have been fielding offers for these players the whole season and this is the one we liked by far the most. All of the other trades we have received have been 10 cents on the dollar at best. Here's a question for all of you, if Thor was not hurt, would he have made that trade? No way.
-
This trade totally reeks. Kinda reminds me of the Mike Tyson vs. Peter McNeeley fight back in 1995. No way you can convince me that wasn't rigged. Just like this trade. One owner takes a dive 6 weeks into the season just to get Thor for 2018 and 4 scrubs who will be cut by the end of the year in exchange for 2 overperforming veteran SP, a still decent prospect SP, an All-Star SP in Arizona, CarGo, Tulo, Carlos Santana and a ton of cash. And, that's a good trade that should be allowed?
-
For next season though, I think there should be a requirement for everyone to be able field a complete lineup. It changes the market value of players if two teams aren't keeping all of their RP slots occupied for example.
-
I can see both sides of the argument. I don't think anyone suggests there is collusion, so it comes down to player valuation. Personally, I would have traded those chips in separate deals to try and get more, but I don't think it's so lopsided that it changes the competitive balance of the league giving Saratoga the crown immediately. Collusion and league altering trades with obvious dumps for way too much are the only reasons I'd ever veto a trade.
-
El Guapo's trade block has been updated!
-
For what it's worth I have seen much more lopsided trades this year....in one of my other leagues a guy traded Cueto/Zobrist/Beltre (and an $80 loan) on April 8 for Matt Strahm/Christian Stewart/Andrew Toles/Jose Berrios. I am 2nd in that league and trying to win...so I understand why people are upset but I approved that trade just like I approved this one...there's no collusion.
-
WV does raise a valid point. It does look questionable that Usual Suspects can even field a starting lineup of hitters, let alone pitching. But it also seemed that many in the league didn't really care about that when we discussed this issue previously, so perhaps they still don't.
-
West Virginia, I wasn't trying to do that, and my apologies if it seemed so. I was trying to explain our rational after several keague members raised questions as to whether it was a fair trade.
-
My initial reaction could be wrong. There are valid points to be made either way. Your response validating the trade by turning the conversation into a "dick measuring contest" is immaterial. Congratulations on trying to win.
-
I don't care about the winners and losers involved in the exchange of players. There was a discussion after the draft about fielding competitive teams and how we should shape the spirit of that rule for this league. My initial breakdown of the trade led me to believe that one side of this trade would not field a competitive team within the boundaries established earlier.
-
Several of the veterans have question marks with performance and/or injury. In return, Thor is a tremendous asset - if healthy as El Guapo pointed out, and Altherr is showing signs of a breakout. There are flyers here for sure, but Saratoga did move an asset that was untouchable two weeks ago. That's not nothing. It helps this year, and we hope it helps us next year. We'll see, as with all trades.
-
People can veto if they want, but there's no collusion here. For what it's worth the Ottoneu Slack community had the complete opposite reaction than most people have here. That's neither here nor there, although it does show that many people view trades in much different light. I think if you look past the "names" here, it looks a lot different. First off, two of the guys we moved are 30 or so year old pitchers picked off waivers in the last few weeks.
-
dude you and usual are 11 and 12 I'm trying to win this year it's a bogus deal May 9 but whatever league wants, it just kinda sucks have to deal with these ridiculous loans and trades early season when you are trying to compete. Too much like Yahoo, was hoping to get away from that
-
Seems like a lot for a $28 Thor to me....but this is not a trade that should be voted down. Is there any evidence of collusion? I see no reason to veto this deal...even if I think one side clearly "won" the deal.
-
But if healthy, Thor is great long-term, so I guess you bank on that if you're acquiring him.
-
I'm not sure how to see the trade as anything other than a massive haul for Thor.
-
4 quality SP, All-Stars at 1B, SS and OF essentially for Thor and some scraps. What in the wide, wide world of sports is a going on in here?
-
My opinion is he traded Thor for a big ol' pile of shit.
-
Veto it. I did and I agree with WTF
-
Quite a deal for Thor there. WTF, is it a joke? Just kinda fucks everybody else trying to compete this year.
-
For those asking after Taillon, I'd certainly consider dealing him or other injured players. However, I do still think he's a building block and he's very inexpensive, so I'm happy to hold him if the offer isn't something that would help me quite a bit for this season.
