CON'T - date on Thursday of this week. We will not be able to please everyone. We are never able to please everyone. However, I will tell you that the draft page works just fine on a cell phone (I had to do it last year) if you're unable to be at your computer. So, please get me your date ranking by Wednesday. Thanks!

DRAFT DATES: Okay, here's how we're going to do this. We're going to make four dates available: Sat. Mar 28; Sun. Mar 29; Sat. Apr 4; and Sun. Apr 5. The draft would start at 8:00pm eastern on any of those days to balance length of draft and our west-coasters. What we need from you by this Wednesday, January 21: a ranking of preference for those dates from most preferred to least preferred (i.e. 5/4/29/28). If you don't have a preference, just say so. I will choose the most preferred - CON'T.

The pay-before-trade requirement only applies to new teams. Teams that have been in the league for awhile aren't required to pay before trading (they've established themselves as consistent members)

Yo. There are still unpaid teams and they are trading? And I too am unable to draft on Easter

DRAFT DAY: April 5th, 2015. 8:00 EST.
-
The final Sunday before the season is the day we've always had it because its caused the least amount of scheduling conflicts and all the Opening Day roster information is complete. Unfortuantely, like last year a game will be going on at the time of the draft(Cubs/Cardinals) and won't be included in the statistics. We've tried to keep this day the same in order to establish tradition and to make it easier to plan around for everyone. However, let us know if there are any conflicts. Thanks!

NOTE TO ALL: Just a few housekeeping matters. The trade deadline is January 31st. All rosters are frozen after this date until the Draft. You won't be able to cut players either so make sure anyone you want to cut is cut before the Trade Deadline. Also, just a reminder there are 3 teams yet to pay for the upcoming season: Kings, Old Skool and Angels/Damons. The renewal is due on February 15th. Finally, the Draft day is April 5th which is the Sunday before the start of the season. -cont-

That is reassuring. 2015 season is saved by Day 1 lineup check.
-
I spoke (or rather, emailed) with Niv to confirm and he did indicate that an illegal roster going into the start of the season would be unable to set a lineup and therefore would not be able to score points.

Klusz.....If players are already in the lineup, they would get points even if the roster is illegal. I guess the question is, once the draft is finished, do current players stay in their lineup spots or is everyone removed and placed in "storage?"
-
Right, so if your roster isn't legal on day 1 you cannot set a lineup. Thus: no points.

"You will always accumulate stats, though if your team is in an illegal state, you won't be able to change lineups or make trades without first resolving that." -- seems legit.

Hey Vikings. Are your ears burning yet? :-) My hypothesis is he is just going to drop everyone who isn't a star, add a bunch of $1 players and then trade the stars during the season when salary can be included. Worse case then is waiting until the trade deadline to trade with the contenders for prospects.
-
I'm almost certain that Vikings didn't know his roster would be frozen. He had to have been planning to use those guys as trade chips once the season began.
-
You can definitely score points while you're in an illegal state. You just can't participate in the draft, make lineup changes or do any trades until the cap is rectified to $400 minus $1 for every available lineup slot and the roster is at 40 players. I don't think any of this really matters though. I'm sure Vikings has a plan up his sleeve. We just don't know it yet.
-
Roster limits and budgets aren't counter-intuitive at all; they make the game *way* more interesting. That said, I've got no problem with a competitor trying to game the rules to their advantage. The problem for Vikings is that the EV of his strategy is almost certainly negative. What are the odds of not suffering a single injury or missing any PA's/IP's from your core 22 players? Good luck with that.
-
Best I can explain it, I'm just pointing out that the alleged penalty of not accruing points in a frozen state is a myth. Everything else is just semantics. Having an illegal roster and illegal salary goes w/o impunity already and carries great risk.
-
Point is - I don't see it as an "arm chair" experience. You're supposed to keep a 40 man roster per the rules, failing to do so puts you into an illegal state.

I don't think I follow your logic. You're given 18 spots for "storage." The rules already appear to penalize you for exceeding that storage.

22 slots for scoring, and 18 extra non-scoring slots to equal the armchair experience of a 40 man roster.

Look at it this way, only 22/40 players can score points, outside of 22 is just storage. To be penalized for having extra storage in a points league would be game breaking and counter intuitive.
-
I did. I suppose I read it differently. It states that if your roster is in an illegal state "you cannot field a team." I would think you can't score points if you can't field a team. Additionally, if your team is in an illegal state you must cut a player. In this state you "will not be able to perform any other activities in the game." I would think "any other activities" would include setting a lineup. All of those all stars don't do him much good sitting on his bench.

Article 1.B - read it, just locked out from trades, lineup changes, and bids
-
Yes you do, I've accrued points with 42/40 roster for a week for the sake of holding onto a player pending injury or potential call up/down. The imposed limits one must maintain a non-frozened team are max 40 roster and max $400 payroll.
-
Well, that's almost true. You don't garner points with an illegal roster :)

So many trade transactions happened because of Vikings madness or genius tactic.
-
Question is, which team will be locked out. I figured everyone saw it by now, Vikings - best course of action is to ride in with an all star lineup collecting points with the only penalty of just being locked out.
-
What team is still locked out?
