it will be interesting to watch, i think i would like to watch from the other dugout though...he is on the block for sure
-
Agree with you, always some uncertainty with guys who only have 300 AB's. The league could adjust to him. At the same time he's off to a great start and also has the prospect pedigree. Some guys love investing in that type of player and some don't. His 2017 will be really interesting to watch!

the original salary is why i am surprised at Trea, he will now be $15 and I view a guy with 300 ab's as completely unproven. I guess my comment made $2 go away. (probably the person who is planning on making a trade offer)
-
It's been a while since I won one though! I guess it's the year of unexpected come from behind victories (Cavs, Cubs, Trump, WARriors)

I'm only seeing 5 bucks on Turner, am I missing something? I guess arbitration is always relative to who else is on each squad. SABR's got so many great bargain guys it's hard to pick who to arb!

300 AB's doesn't make him a superstar

Trea Turner got a lot of attention on Slack this year, but I didn't expect him to be a top arb candidate. He did just rake in the majors as a 23 year old with multiple position eligibility...

Genuinely curious, why the love for Trea Turner? he is getting arbed for the 2nd highest amount (tied) behind Mookie Betts
-
Hey guys, it was brought to my attention that some of your rosters make look invalid because players have come off the 60-DL since the end of the season. If that is the case, just let me know and I will make note of it. The important thing is making sure rosters are in a valid state on the final day of the year. Anything that happens with MLB roster changes during the offseason won't be an issue.

Young and Hopeless's trade block has been updated!

Thanks for the welcome, looking forward to the challenge. I am a fantasy baseball veteran and addict, started Ottoneu in 2016, and retired after the season from 16 years of yahoo to focus on playing here.

I am excited to announce that Craig Giles (slack: shortstop2e19) will be taking over as owner of Urban Shockers. Welcome to the league!

Urban Shockers, I too am sorry to see you leave. You did a really great job this year to take over a team and finish 4th after a lot of your best assets had been traded in the title run in 2015.

SABR, thanks buddy. You are one of the best commissioners around. This league is filled with great owners because of your attention and work. I just paid my fee and am excited that we will have a set group of committed owners as we go into the offseason.

Thank you to those of you who already renewed! Getting this out of the way now will help us shift our focus to 2017 once arbitration is complete. We are down to 3 teams who have yet to pay and I have contacted each of them individually. Hopefully, we can get this done before the end of the week. Also, I have a lead on a new owner for Urban.

I'm out for next year guys. This 2nd league was a lot more work than I expected and I can't handle it with my current work requirements. I appreciate you letting me play this year and wish you all the best of luck going forward.

Just 40 man. Disregard cap.

Sorry, I'm just catching up. We have to cut down to 40 man AND under cap? Or just 40 man?

I think that's another great idea. Is everyone okay with renewing by next Tuesday? If you have an issue with that please speak up quickly either here or in my inbox. I'll send out an email to everyone tomorrow.

I completely agree that this should be done earlier in arbitration (even better before it starts). Going forward this will be something I check on much sooner. I would appreciate it if anyone over roster limits sent me their cuts before November 1 so that everyone still has 2 weeks to properly allocate all their dollars. Thank you!

My roster is legal, so I'm not affected this year, but I agree it's a good idea going forward. I would add that perhaps the cuts should be made a decent amount of time before the end of arbitration, or even before arbitration starts, if feasible.
-
I think this is a solid precedent to set going forward. If we do not all agree, we can option to take a vote. Otherwise, please post or inbox me your desired cuts. 60 DL spots are still okay.

I think SABR's got a valid point. Having a legal roster going into the offseason seems like a fair and good policy. That would include the 40 man and any guys who were on the 60-day DL at the close of the regular season. I think the commissioner can make the cuts for us even though rosters are locked, but SABR could probably tell us that answer for sure.

lol
-
this was all a worthless argument anyway. it wont let us cut players. Rosters are locked
-
Would DL spots still be in effect then? Or would it be a strict 40-man rule?
-
I am only here to enforce what we collectively decide on as a whole. I want to make sure that you guys understand my opinion is just 1. Having said that, in this case, I think enforcing a legal roster is important going into the offseason to avoid people over-rostering players, however I agree with Fly Eli that once that checkpoint is cleared, you are welcome to going over legal limits once arbitration is complete until the keeper deadline.

Agree with SABRmagician here...best to go into the offseason legal in terms of roster spots rather than establish a bad precedent of potentially rostering entire ottoverse. Once trade season starts, that's when you can do as many 4 for 1's as you want w/o regard for roster spots (at least until the keeper deadline)
-
The only time rosters are defined as having a limit is during the "season". We are in the "offseason" which does limit the roster count or salary
-
Countering SABR's point, here is what the rules say about roster: b. If at any time during the season any team's cap room is not greater than or equal to 40 minus the number of players on that team's roster, you cannot field a team. In this circumstance, your team will be frozen until the issue is resolved. The owner will be forced to cut a player to resolve this issue, and will not be able to perform any other activities in the game, including editing and making auction bids. However, bids alre
-
The rule posted is in regards to salary cap, not the number of roster spots. The number of roster spots needs to be restricted to prevent teams from auctioning the entire ottoneu universe on the last couple days of the season.

its my first full offseason, but it was my understanding that we didnt need to cut anyone (and would be silly to) until the Cut deadline prior to the draft period
-
Pretty sure we have til the keeper deadline, or am I missing something?
-
"c. Owners must always be able to field a 40 man roster for $400; therefore following the keeper deadline, a team salary must never exceed $360 + the number of players on the roster. However, there is no salary cap from the end of the MLB season until the keeper deadline."
-
Also, any teams with more players than available roster spots need to make the appropriate cuts as soon as possible.
