LOL @ Warriors, maybe we can take a break...until after the season. I congratulated you for winning the league, if these otehr guys are as tough as you defend them to be. Its a solid accomplishment. Acquiring 8 studs and getting your league mates to pay the salaries is not easy in my $10 league, Hats off to you.

@Fly I wondered about that since you reached your innings cap without them, do you think Paxton was the best you could get though, if WARriors is good at creating a market that proves the market is there. Just saying, that trade looks like you got played...

I looked competitive at the time of the Price/Sale deal because I had been pacing ahead on innings, but after doing the math I knew that I wouldn't get first. I liked Paxton a lot and assumed nobody would want to pay for 2 guys I saw as cuts in the offseason. What can I say, WARriors is great at creating a market!

You're not giving these guys nearly enough credit. Shadymen got three cornerstone players for 2017 when he decided he was out of the race and Fly got a cheap Paxton for two guys he wasn't keeping for '17. You might not realize it yet, but these guys are good players and know what they're doing.

Bregman, Dahl and Archer wasn't that hard since the deal was made when 2 were in the minors and Archer wasn't living up to his '15 level. So EE, Cruz and Lester were a bargain for a half year of production and you still got $65 along with them. That deal alone probably gave you +1200 points, without them its a 3rd place finish even with all the other trades. Shadymen very possibly took third if he did NOT make that trade. Do you want me to analyze a couple more?

I appreciate all the love for Betances, he is a top RP, maybe even top 3 if you can't name 3 better than him. Offers are way off, i need a top 5 player at another position to trade him.

I don't know if outfoxing is the word for it. I had to give up a lot of young talent to rebuilding teams, including a $3 Bregman, $3 Dahl and $12 Archer to the Shadymen. It was no cakewalk trying to catch the SABRMagician.

I had to research, Since I don't have any memory of last year, i had to look up the trades to see how a team can get $700+ payroll. Amounts given away to the winning team 73,32,50,35,50,65 in 6 trades, Players given away for not much Price, Sale, Tanaka, Lester, Cargo, Cutch, JoeyBats, Stanton, Cruz, EE, LuCroy, Andrus. 8 players and $300+, 5 teams had a part and one trade was in April, 3 weeks into the season. Warriors, nice win, you earned it by out foxing the rest of the league.

But you're proving the point that value is in the eye of the beholder. I guess you're making a moral judgment against my trading, but I'm not sure why anyone should be faulted for trying to maximize the value on their team. It's the whole goal of the offseason.

Don't even try to draw equivalency between our approaches to trading. I respect what you're doing as its been very successful given your top 3 finishes two years in a row, but at least be honest about what your game is.

Um, except Kemp is $16 and came packaged with a $3 Tom Murphy and a $5 Swihart, so plenty of upside and i don't have $400 in cuts to make, so entirely different context. $5 Roark at a time when pitcher ppi are going down to increased long balls is more than fair for a regression bound Turner. I could easily end up the loser in that deal and was hesitant to make it, but I had a hole to fill.

Hmmm I think some owners may have said the same about a couple of deals the Beavers made this offseason as well...depending on what they think of Tanner Roark and Matt Kemp's remains

And I shouldn't have said "bad for the league" because that sounds stronger than I feel the situation is. And I don't actually think it is bad for the league. Its a great league with active owners and I don't really care about the trades that much. Just chiming in for fun.

I have to agree with Seager. Why are you giving good low-priced contracts to someone and taking on overpriced players that should be released to auction. Basically, you're helping last year's best teams stay really good and not be penalized for their crazy payrolls. Not good for the league.

you mean, why aren't all teams rushing to make moves when we have until 1/31? well as far as i'm concerned i've been testing out some moves, nothing panned out so far. not THAT desperate to trade my cheap pieces for overpriced ones. if you have players you want to get rid of tho, feel free to offer them!
