That's not true, we would have a system in place so trades would be processed exactly as they are now simply showing up here rather than at the top of your page.

the only other issue with trades post cut would be not any way to vote on them
-
It's ok, you just love debating quite a bit more than I do. I'm a lawyer, so maybe I get a little tired of debating in other settings. I'm sure the commissioner will issue proposals for a vote. Seems like everyone who has an opinion has voiced it and like I said, I don't care that much about this issue.

Asking questions = anti-fun, suggesting a vote = grinch. I guess I just shouldn't participate at all. Is that the message?
-
I'm happy to keep discussing, but my previous efforts at asking questions were also met with derision, so what the fuck do you want me to do man?
-
Yes, please let's have an explicit proposal for the Grinch.

So, do people want two weeks of extra fun or three weeks or a month or what? Might be helpful if someone made an explicit proposal and then we vote on it instead of an endless back and forth.
-
And at least we would have a term limit on your iron fist

Yeah, one year trial doesn't sound like it could hurt anything. If it's not fun or helpful, we can bag it for next year.

I think it could be fun trading pre draft and would be interested in doing a 1 year trial

I'm not sure if you're pro-fun or anti-fun though

I mean, the benefit is that it's fun to have the freedom to trade for a few extra weeks after you know who will be cut or not cut.
Lamoka 🏹 on

Yeah, I don't see the harm either, but I guess I just don't really see the benefit either, in which case, why bother?

Doesn't seem to be any harm in a couple extra weeks of trading during Spring Training as MLB teams figure out what roles players will have.

That's up to the league. My idea is to create a period in between the keeper deadline and the draft in which owners can trade post cuts. I would suggest 2 weeks, but I'm open to anything the league wants.

When would rosters be frozen under your proposal?
-
Oh, my bad, but the current setup effectively makes the keeper deadline the point at which rosters are frozen going into the draft, so by allowing trades afterwards you're changing the effect of the deadline even if you are not technically pushing it back.
-
My proposal was never to move the keeper deadline. Right now, there is no opportunity for trades once the dust settles and all cuts are made. This would just extend trades a week or two past the current keeper deadline.

Glad that got sorted out before an attempted mutiny haha. After reading everyone's comments, I'm starting to think it might be best if we just stuck to existing keeper deadline.

Look at that! We got David back in. Welcome back!

Why privately--let all know whats going on! If they miss the renew date do they get a time out? Don't like behind closed door deals--are you in politics, that's the way they do business? Are you able to rule with a iron fist? I will be shocked if ottoneu goes along with this xhywhmh!

I am also going to need to cancel the trade until things settle. I will try my best to have an answer for this by the end of the day.

New Trust the Process, our old owner accidentally let the team expire and is having issues getting it back. We are in communication with Niv. I am sorry for any confusion, however if you wouldn't mind helping us out by staying in and holding the spot until we get it fixed so that this doesn't happen to anyone else, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Trading beyond 1/31 would be cool to avoid the dead period, but how would we vote on trades? Publicly on message board?
-
I wouldn't mess with the cut deadline, it's nice to have plenty of time/flexibility in planning for the draft, and knowing which players are available via cut is a key part of that.
-
I think the cut deadline shouldn't be messed with. But if you guys want to trade uncut players with no loans after the deadline, I don't see any issues with that. Although I always think the easiest thing is to just stay with the rules as they are.

The only loophole I can think of right now is being allowed to cut people without penalty after the deadline. I am fine with it being for specific DL purposes, but we'd have to monitor that. As far as trades after deadline, I am all for it. If you dropped all your 2B and then see everyone kept theres, you may want to try to make a trade prior to the draft. Not sure what we would make the new timeline, but definitely something that keeps us involved all spring.
-
Yeah, I think Warriors makes a good point, though I also see where Bullpen is coming from. If we're going to draft in late March (?) perhaps we can try pushing back keeper deadline one month, leaving us two to three weeks for draft prep. For once, I also don't have super strong opinions on this, haha.
-
Maybe the commish has thought about it more than me, but I think the benefit is greater clarity on guys' roles going into the season and also avoiding injuries. Right now if someone tears a UCL in February, you still can't cut them until after the auction. So you can have dead money on your roster that you could've used to bid on other players. I don't have a super strong opinion, but I kind of like the idea of extending the deadline.
Lamoka 🏹 on

I guess I don't see the benefit to extending.
-
It doesn't have to be all the way until the auction. We could create a 1-2 week period directly after deadline if that is what you guys want.

not interested extending the trades past the deadline, i think that would be a negative addition and make it difficult to prep for the auction
-
works for me. and we'd still enforce the keeper deadline im assuming?
-
All trades would simply need to be "submitted" to me by both owners via inbox and I would push them through using commissioner tools
