I’ve got a ridiculous pitching staff. It bounty of wealth. I’m willing to share the bounty for a good trade deal. Looking to move multiple Frontline pitchers.

Hi fellas, reclaimed my team since it wasn't picked up by anyone, glad to be back but got to stop the frenzy

We are not expected to vote on trades. If you expect collusion or nefarious conduct (like one owner secretly owning two team) you can vote to veto…a veto takes a majority of owners and I have never seen one…in 13 yrs on Ottoneu (many teams).

Are we expected to vote on trades? My opinion is that it should be between the teams involved.

Just a thought, how about having the owner who took over for Sticky Stuff do the arb allocation for Big Papi memories? If I’m not mistaken Sticky Stuff had already done arb before he abandoned his team. This way the new owner could get in on arb allocation and Big Papi memories team would be done.

In my opinion…the arb $$ go unallocated. Hard to agree on a method to distribute to $$ as a league…that is an owner decision.

Only a few left. How do we handle arb for a team that has been abandoned?

A reminder to everyone about the Arbitration Deadline, this Thursday Nov 14th. Please do your part.

Hi Commish and owners, congrats to the winners, wanted to say it's been a pleasure playing with all of you this season. Got way too many leagues and cannot maintain the rythm (time consuming and $$$). So I won't be renewing many of my leagues like this one, got some talent to attract new owner for next year so you should be able to quickly fill vacancy. have a good arb and a great future season! Thanks Commish for great work
-
Also huge congrats to Hamdingers!!
-
This battle for 2nd place is wild as hell (as is this Braves/Mets game.
-
Gallon who I already explained wasn't going to be kept that price.

you mean the one for o'hearn and bednar? is that the one? essentially jobe and painter for Gallen? Seems like a freaking amazing trade for a rebuilding team. Interesting I took so much crap for it. Still trying to figure that one out. Closers are volatile just like Bednar proved. Is O'Hearn the one you're talking about? Yeah I guess you're right I should've traded O'Hearn. Good point.

no hurt feelings as no trade is as bad as the Amador, Jobe, and Painter trade a month into the season. It is all good!

I apologize if my busting balls hurt feelings. It was childish and pointless. Well, not pointless, but childish.

All good. It's only Fantasy Sports. Nothing anyone has ever said doesn't bother me. *not real life
But yes, I'll refrain from being a d*ck
-
I apologize if the intent of my post wasn’t clear. I was asking that you respect the other owners in the league by keeping the childish messages out of the league message board. Feel free to use any level of respect while discussing the trade in the private mailboxes of those involved. Thank you.

Personally, I didn't think Kay Parker's message was disrespectful. A little childish but not disrespectful.
I also didn't think my response was disrespectful. Definitely Childish but not disrespectful.
-
Can we please keep the discourse on the public portion of this league respectful. I have had many spirited discussions in the private message section, after receiving or sending more unbalanced offers than the one outlined here. If you don’t like a deal…hit reject and move on.

Kay, what's the recourse for fielding a team incapable of competing?
Is public shaming others, your way of trying to fill that fantasy sports void inside you ??
-
Count me as “confused”…if you don’t like an offer, hit reject. What are you asking/looking for?

Announce authority just offered me. Hoskins, Seawald, Kim,and Toglia for Cease, Caminero, Baty, roman Anthony, and christian scott. It seems there's more warranted than just a standard "reject " so I decided to share it with you guys as recourse for the offer. Now that's announcing your presence with authority.

I have 48 players. I'm willing to do four for one deals. Dylan cease, Vinny P, gleyber Torres, and Willson Contreras or any other player on the Block for one blue chip player.

I'll take a quick look in case I want to send an offer your way, though I'm not sure I have the assets to compete w whatever else you might be cooking up. Thanks for the head's up - if you'd made whatever trade you are planning without having posted here, I'd have ZERO issue w it. We should all assume these discussions are happening rn. Your team is already looking stacked for future seasons, so I'm excited to see what else you are adding!
-
fair warning. I'm getting close to making a deal that unloads a lot of major league talent for a future asset. So I don't have to hear the bitching and moaning, now is your chance to send me offers. Don't say I didn't warn you.

FYI, we made a trade with CMC that accidentally included the wrong parts, so CMC graciously agreed to undo it--hence the back-to-back trades.

more ridiculous trades for minor leaguers
-
I can't even see why this trade raises flags when it has Painter, Jobe and Amador in it. I love the way my pitching staff is lining up for the next couple of years. Gallon being 28 has nothing to do with the fact that he's going cost me over $30 to keep next year. The World Series season of last year put 243 innings on that arm. It's not the direction I want to go with star tier money. I'm loading up on cheap pitching is going to spend on bats. This trade is perfect for me.

I'm not winning this year in case you didn't notice. I got three players I'm really excited about for next season for one player I would've kept. Gallen threw 243 innings last year. 2nd half red caution tape! To get the two best pitching prospects in baseball in my opinion and the future star Shortstop of Coors field. the real deal. He's killer! It's a no-brainer for me. This is a league that values prospects. They are not easy to get in trades. I love this trade for my team. "MY TEAM&quo

... I sold BIG names, high priced guys I had no intention of keeping into my contention window, in the first month of the season for a BIG return of near to the majors prospects. It was a strategy that was not popular, but made my team better in the long run.

As for the timing...early in the season. This doesn't raise any flags for me. I have used this specific strategy in a rebuild. I knew I had little chance to compete for a title in the first year of taking over a team. I bought a couple of high priced stars at auction, that were not enough for me to contend, with the sole intent to sell them as soon as a big injury hit a contending team....

My take...just to add on. I have played Ottoneu since near the beginning, & I have seen this type of trade a hundred times...been on both sides of making them. This is not a haul I would look for, but I haven't done a deep dive on the return. There are certain prospects that I know well, and am certain that I value WAY higher than some..it is baked into this pie. Everyone has a vote, & I urge them to vote their conscience..but..vetos are meant for evidence of collusion, not a dea

Gallan is 28 and a top tier SP.......the two pitching prospects that he had to have.....one is projected to be a mid rotation starter and the other has pitched in two years and had TJ in 2023. Sorry but this trade impacts the league and ruins the integrity of the league, esp. given how early in the season it is.
-
Sure, I would've loved to get a chance to to match the offer. But fact of the matter is KP saw an offer he liked and made a deal. My loss. If you think something illegal happened, then you gotta do what you gotta do. But this league has been around for a while, and I like to think that even when we disagree, the action is above-board and cooler heads end up prevailing. I prefer not to set a precedent where we veto trades that aren't illegal or that don't fundamentally harm the league.
-
I looked back at the leagues trades over the last few years.....I couldn't find one trade that including a top tier player for prospects this early in the season
-
if "you just know" then why not advertise that you are giving up on the year.....get more offers and the best deal possible.
-
Yeah, it's a little early, but some years you just know. Full disclosure before (and honestly after) the Yamamoto deal we were putting together offers for Gallen as well. No offense to KP, but he didn't have to advertise to us that he was a prime candidate to sell.
-
Thanks, I understand how Ottoneu works. You can't have teams dumping top tier SPs this early in the season for prospects only. And the fact that the SP was not advertised as available is problematic and possibly illegal (they will never say if they colluded).
I have played in dynasty/keeps leagues for years....never seen a team dump a top tier player for prospects 30 games into the season.
-
As for the $$$, that's how loans work and why they exist. The loaner isn't paying the other manager a bunch of money, they're loaning money to float the soft cap number this year. The cost is you lose cost-controllable guys and then have to make way more cuts in the offseason. FWIW a quick primer: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/ottoneu-101-how-loans-work-in-ottoneu/.
-
Again, not my favorite trade, but certainly not a "quit the league" trade.
-
We won't be voting to veto the trade. Listen, I don't think it's a great trade. We like Jobe as much as the next guy, but it still feels light. That being said, I absolutely don't think it rises to the level of problematic or illegal. Conceptually, it is a pretty standard currently value for future value Ottoneu trade. You can scroll back into the history of this league and it's not too hard to find similar moves. Or look at recent trades involving Gallen and/or Jobe across the Ottoneu platform.
-
Most prospects don't do anything in the majors. About 70% of Baseball America top 100 prospects fail and 60% of top 20 pitchers fail. People over value prospects but that is their choice. But I have a problem with a team dumping a top tier SP for three prospects so early in the season (about 20% of the season played). A Team dumping players this early in the season ruins the integrity of the league.

Thanks CMC, my last comment was posted before I read yours, so not directed your way. I’ll step back and make space for any other folks who want to weigh in, I’ve said my piece.
