Not as bad as Civale’s -55 for me last September
-
Oof. Saw the message in the middle of a client call and had to stop and see what happened. Might be a long season with 15 guys on the IL / Covid / Susp list.
-
I feel for ya, Cobra. I've been there before. Actually spite cut Hammel mid game for the same thing, LOL.

I hate to do this but the trade of mediocre for a loan makes no sense.

It's almost comical how bad my team is every April. LOL.

We all agreed that the season would be over after the first day, right? Just checking. :-)
-
Ok - draft is complete. Players can be traded, cut, etc. Good luck to all
-
Let me answer another way. I have the ability as Commissioner to do that. If the group wants to allow that I can do it. But I suspect you won't be the only person who might want to cut a player and then I will be in the middle of that in the auction.
-
I'm sympathetic but we haven't allowed that. I think you can cut him once the auction starts though - I've been trying to figure out whether that is permitted but maybe someone else here knows that.
-
Any chance I can cut Garrett Crochet (yet another great trade by MMT) and take the full cap charge so I can fill his roster spot during tonight’s auction?

I am going to be 45 minutes late so I don’t have to witness insane bidding wars

Correct
-
Just to be 100% certain, our auction tomorrow night starts at 8:30pm central, correct? That means Anand should only be about 15 minutes late. 😉

Based on those who have responded 4/4 works so I’ll change it to that but then we are locked for that date
-
So it seems 4/6 out, with 4/4 as a possibility. As mentioned, I can likely swing 4/5 if we pushed an hour, but I know that makes for a late night for any east coast folks. Again, my apologies; work threw me a curveball yesterday after a client rearranged their schedule on us.
-
I do think we either need to stick with the 5th or set a date once and for all. I moved two things to be available on the 5th, so don’t want to keep yanking those folks around.

I could do 4/4, but not 4/6 as well. It's tough to move a draft at this point and it's getting pretty late for a slow draft too. I could help find a proxy, if that's helpful

I can do 4/4 but not 4/6
-
I have another draft on 4/6.
-
Either of those dates are fine for me.
-
Hey everyone, I hate to be “that guy” but I just found out that can no longer swing 4/5 (could potentially if we pushed an hour later, but I know that’s a bit of an ask). Could we possibly shift to 4/4 or 4/6?
-
Yes sir. That is the plan.
-
Are we a confirmed 4/5, draft? Works for me, just playing the draft shuffle across leagues so just double checking everything!

If you have T-Mobile, they’re offering free MLB.TV again this year.

Owners - I have not heard back from 100% of the owners, but have tentatively set the draft date for 4/5 starting at 8:30 CST.
-
Here we go again. Tatis Jr has a fractured wrist and likely out for three months. Sure, why not knock out my best player right off the bat?

Ok, I have a small connection to the current IU team. Race Thompson is the son of Darrell Thompson. DT, as many of you already know, was a standout RB for the Gophers and later the Packers during the 80s. Darrell and I went to the same HS in Rochester. Doesn’t mean I root for IU, though!

Given scheduling issues, query whether we do a “slow draft” via couchmanagers.com. I joined another Ottoneu league for this upcoming season (I claimed an abandoned team) and they do this slow draft where each team nominates a few players and then those players are up for auction for a predetermined period (typically 24 hours), and then another group of players is nominated to go up for auction for another set period. This process is completed until all of the teams have built their rosters.

I can do 4/5 -- that works for me.
-
True story - Tim Knight was on my little league team and Patrick was our bat boy, so BK saw us play a lot of games. I pitched and played SS but we were terrible. Years later I had a chance to meet BK and told him that, and said we were probably the worst LL team ever. He paused, and said, " you're right, you were the worst LL team I've ever seen". We both laughed.

I can make any of these draft dates work

Shohei- I was in school during the Crean years and the sweet sixteen runs. Just happy to see them playing well after what felt like a disappointing season overall.
-
Bombo- had a different team in it (finished top 32, coulda been 16 if Darvish hadn’t forgetting how to pitch 😑) and enjoyed it. Definitely requires a slightly different strategy (multi-position players are key), and somewhat being willing to toss away future stability the further along you get if you actually want to win as most of the top finishing teams had salaries of $500+. Happy to chat more over PM if you’d like!
-
Santo - I grew up in Bloomington IN and saw a lot of games at the Assembly Hall in which Woodson played. Esp happy for him.
-
Bombo - it did not impact how I managed in this league. I'd give it a shot if I were you.
-
Just curious of those that also played the OPL last year what you thought? Did it alter how you managed your team here? Would you recommend joining?

I can make 3/31, 4/4 work. I will be flying back from Savannah Ga on 4/5 (may be able to make it work. back to chicago around 6 cst)
-
I can do 4/5, but it would have to be after 9:30 ET.
-
3/31 or April 4/5 work for me. IU wins again Shohei, we might just make the tourney after all! 😅
-
No worries Calvin. How does April 4 or 5 work for people? We want to accommodate 12 teams but it’s hard as we all know.
-
Hate to be that guy, but 3/31 is going to be hard for me as I have a second draft that night and it's a live, in-person one. I might be able to make it work if it's truly the only thing that does for everyone else, but would prefer if we can do another night.
-
I can make March 31 work

Owners - just to update you, I have heard from 4 owners and we are already down to only 1 date that works for everyone- March 31. That’s with 7 owners not yet responded.
-
I am good on either 3/28, 30 or 31.
-
Owners - it looks like opening day is April 7. Working backwards, I think the earliest we can/should think about the auction/draft is Weds. March 23 or Thurs. March 24; then skip to Monday March 28th - Thurs 31. We slip in the first week of April if absolutely needed. If you could please respond to this, or send me an email to nathanzietlow@gmail.com with dates you cannot attend, that would help. Plan would to start at 8PM Central time.
-
Some said it was impossible, but a new CBA and a victory by Indiana in the B1G tourney on the same day is certainly a good day in my book. Let’s see what the MLB schedule is and then I’ll float some proposed draft dates.
-
Been down in AZ all month and no hint of our Field of Dreams guys walking out of the corn stalks. I have seen some ball, though. Watched part of a Juco tournament at the Cubs facility, Two HS games with Chief Justice’s owner Lance, ASU and two women’s college softball. (Gophers vs ASU and U of AZ). Will get to one more ASU game before heading home later this week.
