You are not going to convince anyone other than Godfather that it is a fair trade. Just make your deal, start your awesome countdown again and then watch half the league leave at the end of the year.

$1 Deshields with a SB or 2 a night lately, a young closer who had a 100 strike out season, a young raw, 5 category outfielder, a 24 year old 3B on the cusp of being great, a bunch of good RPs who could all be closers to start next season, michael taylor has a tremendous high ceiling, mark reynolds will have a few good years in coors and is tripling what miggy has done so far this season, these are all good players and are all keepers, they would have been on my team at least. peace.

Sorry I just don't think Godfather does this deal with anyone in the league except the commish. With the exception of a 33 year old Mark Reynolds, these are all below league average hitters. If you were to trade one of these guys with this kind of return, then fine. You're tipping the scales too far in your favor in this deal and I think you know it. I'm not angry or trying to impugn anyone's integrity, but I think you have to expect a push back against this kind of deal in a prize league.

i dont think anyone involved in the deal is a "crap non keeper" there is tremendous FV leaving my team

I'm not questioning the trade at all, but I do ask that, in the future, for Godfathers to put his players on the block and shop around if you're selling. I sent an offer for mccutchen that was ignored, and yet you were able to go back and forth with goldy. I wouldn't have minded a counter offer. If those are the guys you want, that's fine, but just give other teams a chance also.
-
Whoa lots of action tonight haha. First off, Goldy, my JD trade obviously hasn’t worked out for me but you can’t possibly compare it to this. I agree with everyone else that this trade looks pretty lopsided. That said, I haven’t been around long enough to accuse guys of collusion so I guess I'll leave it up to everyone else on whether it should be vetoed.
-
and godfather, we don't need your coaching resume. I could care less. nobody was doubting your ability to coach baseball (nobody but Goldy probably even knew). While it may not be collision, the trades you two have made over the years have clearly set godfather back and helped Goldy win. Those are facts.

I know we value differently Goldy. But obviously I'm not the only one questioning it. We are all looking at this from an outside perspective, unbiased (whether you believe it or not). I've never questioned you as commish because you've done a great job. Trades are the only area I have questioned.

In that case, I think I would have kept the $4 kelvin Herrera! Anyway, I think Goldschmidt is a great commish, I don't want to say anything disrespectful about anyone, this could go either way, but I'm thinking 51 percent that there was something unfair and 49 percent that there wasn't, so I'm vetoing for the first time. Just one vote anyway.

Boys first off I just returned home from coaching my son's 10U baseball team.- which we won and I have coached varsity baseball for almost 20 years and have over 275 wins. I have had Miggy and Mcutchen as anchors for the last 3 years and have yet to make a dent in the standings. I am sick of finishing 9th, 10th, or 11th place. I obviously am going nowhere with my current roster. There are very young good players that give me depth and options in my lineup. Good arms and low cost long term help.
-
This is where you lose me in this statement: "where trades that are made in good faith when two owners are trying to win or get the best return for short term assets for future season" - if he wanted the best return, actually cared about getting a good value, and winning one day he would try to make trades (which I'm sure he could have done better) with other owners instead of just blindly accepting the best bundle of crap iffy non-keepers you could toss in the offer.
-
There's certainly not an obligation to defend a transaction, but after all these comments it seems reasonable for Godfather to post something about why he made the trade, unless he's fine with it being vetoed, which seems to be where we're headed.
-
i completely disagree with you la grange and give you my word but do whatever you want, its your right. i have done a good job as commish ensuring we have a good league and want to continue to do so but want no part of a league where trades that are made in good faith when two owners are trying to win or get the best return for short term assets for future seasons are even considered to be vetoed because. have a good night everyone.
-
we work together and have known each other for a long time we are friends. i also know others in the league. there are brothers in the league. we are all trying to win. im not evading anyting our relationship has nothing to do with the trade
-
Not sure why you would evade the question of your relationship with Godfather, but your refusal to answer is not encouraging. I really hate to veto, and I definitely get that people value trades differently, but this one really seems to be out of bounds and actually does seem like collusion, so I'll veto (for the first time!) unless I hear something convincing.

https://www.fantasysp.com/trade/mlb/7944735/chapman-cabrera-herrera-mccutchen-heyward-castellanos-neris-reynolds-herrera
this doesn't include jiminez (future tigers closer), dylan cozens (4 cat phillies prospect who hit 40 and stole 30 at AAA), and other keepers that were included
-
Jabronie-nearly every deal you have ever made has turned out in your favor, that doesn't mean there was collusion. i don't think i have ever vetoed a trade. the JD martinez acquisition was far more lopside than any other deal i have seen this year but both of your were trying to improve, you for now and the new owner for the future with unproven prospects. in my opinion i offered more for JD than you did but I didn't get him. once again, i can assure you this was completely legit
-
with all due respect JHey, they way you value players is very different than how i value players, how godfather values players, etc. i'm looking at giving up a lot of keepers with a lot of upside who all play except for the young phillies outfielder and the future tigers closer. from my perspective godfather will lose a bit in saves and whip but improve in all other categories by adding 10 good fantasy players with good future value for players i doubt are keepers at their current prices, etc.
-
what do you mean by an outside relationship?that has nothing to do with this. there are brothers in our league. there are coworkers. we are not children. the JD Martinez deal wasn't questioned why is this. there was a deal made last year where a player (Melky Cabrera) was given away for $0 that wasn't vetoed but your claiming to veto a trade that both owners agreed on. we have been countering and sending offers to get this done for months now. i have offered the same players to everyone.
-
trying to be fair, but given pattern of trades, i don't really see it from godfather's perspective. godfather, want to convince us? goldschmidt, is there an outside relationship or not?

there wasno colusion. we both are trying to make our teams better. i gave up a lot of good young keeper for a couple months of underperforming vets that i think will give me a shot to catch jabronie and dog days
-
I'm not saying it's collusion, but it sure looks like it. I constantly propose trades to Godfather that are a lot more fair than the trades he does with Goldy and RARELY get a counter. And Jabronies is right that 90% of the trades he does are trades with Goldy and a good amount of those are ones we question. The Miller trade was the only one close to the many lopsided trades Godfather and Goldy have had. And that was made by a manager that abandoned his team shortly after.

I can't eliminate collusion of you look at the trade history and 90% of godfathers deals are with the commish and most are very lopsided.

that trade does look crazy lopsided, though i guess if goldschmidt happens makes ten crazy trade offers a day it makes sense that someone would accept one every so often. godfather, can you just say why you made that trade? and confirm no outside relationship between godfather and goldschmidt happens? if so, I won't veto, because I agree that vetoes should only be for collusion.

its bs, i make offers eveyday trying to make my team better, i work out deals and have fun playing ottoneu. do whatever you want but i want no part of a league where honest trades are vetoed, have a good night.

wtf? collusion? cmon guys.

wtf? collusion? cmon guys.

Just to be clear, this has nothing to do about any other deals but this one, and I'm not alone so take it easy Goldshit.
-
every single player in that deal going his way is a keeper.
-
maybe focus on getting trout, that's what i am going to go
-
you are vetoing a trade bc he didn't accept a trade from you last year? that's logical....? we are both trying to get better. maybe if you made more offers or counters you could get deals done, every year i think i should go for it i'm the first to go out there and buy and the same bs is posted. look at your miller trade or the trades for players with no money out of spite that occured last year, keep it legit fellas, we have a good league here. respectfully, Goldschimdt Happens
-
I define this as colusion. Please Godfather tell us about how great this sets you up for the years to come? I tried to offer Godfather trades for Ortiz also as he sat in last place in the big papi retirement year and never responded or would make the deal for something of value. Makes no sense.
-
I third the Veto
-
veto's are for colusion. i disagree with that. every single one of those guys are keepers with high upside, maybe you don't understand value, etc. i can assure you we both made the trade trying to make our teams better.
-
wtf?
-
I'm vetoing. Only keepers at their current price going back is maybe Herrera and Neris.
