Why couldn't it have been cancelled yesterday? It's frustrating that now no form of the trade will probably happen, cash regardless. At least I keep my young cash locked players.
-
We've had a good amount of manager turnover in the past few years, so these things get lost in the shuffle.
Let's have a discussion of what changes we want for 2024.

PTBNL and I should have posted the bylaws at the beginning of the season. I will be sure to do this every spring to avoid any additional issues around the topics.
1. Jose Fernandez clause. If a player dies, they can be cut penalty free
2. Tommy John clause. If a player goes out with TJ before opening day, they can be cut penalty free
3. Cash Cap clause. No more than $25 can be exchanged in a trade
Anything missing?

Honestly the money is weird, I don’t understand why having 50$ in cap room at this point matters other than ensuring everyone auctioned from this point has an unreasonable cost. The reason to have cap space at this point is to make trades like this. After you do it why need more?
-
Yeah. It was nice playing with you guys. Thanks for the learning experience
-
Where is a condensed version of the rules? I’m not really keen on looking through 12 years of messages.
-
*unless the consensus says otherwise.

If you are against the reworked trades, please use your veto powers.
If any other managers have input on this matter, please share.
Should we create any new bylaws for the 2024 season?
I will cancel this trade by 10p ET tomorrow night

This league has maintained its integrity by doing our best to make ethical and democratic decisions. Based on the 2015 cash cap rule, this trade should be canceled by either commissioner. The teams are free to rework the deal with no more than $25 cash in a trade.

So, I just checked. I have to offer a player, but I can give him a player plus salary after the trade goes through to even it based on league rules. Don't mind doing that at all. We can pass back and forth a prospect with cash to make it work if the commish can't manually re-adjust.
-
I’ve made offers and had all these players on the block too. It’s not like I haven’t been shopping.
-
Who cares about how much someone has coming in for loans at this point of the season besides long term equity. He is getting two salary cap locked young players who are performing for two over paid rentals. Like, that's the essence of how trades towards the end of a season tend to work, here and in the real world.
-
It's not circumventing the salary cap at all, we both have the extra cash. The trade has enough $ only to make the trade a net zero. It's okay for you to say you're in second place and vetoed because the trade helps me competitively. The vetos don't need a reason. I would do the same in your place. Ultimately, I made the trade for the rental players to help push me to get first. It's still a gamble. I just wanted to keep salary open for drops, if any happen.
-
I vetoed the initial trade and would likely veto two separate trades with the same players and money involved. There are a few reasons for this.
1. The historical precedent that commish mentioned
2. Acuna already has $21 in incoming loans, and whether 1 or 2 trades, it would be a crazy $76 in incoming loans; this is an extreme circumventing of the salary cap
3. Acuna has $49 of cap space pre-trade, so why not just trade the same players and offer just enough cap space to keep a
-
Can we make a trade for the cash back with no players involved? I don't know if the mechanics work that way. I can always write off 5$ of the space as well. Bayside and I don't mind doing what's right. No I'll intent or rule skirting was intended. Sorry!
-
Ultimately I see that it’s a nuisance to rework the trade when it’ll all come out in the wash. Just trying to keep things on the up and up!
If other managers have thoughts and opinions or want to rework this rule, please feel free to share your thoughts.
2015 was awhile ago and we’ve had quite a bit of turnover since then.

Got it. The cash isn't the part the matters and the playing time of a couple of days matters for the trade to make sense. Sorry we forgot about that. Cancel the trade immediately so we can relist two separate trades within the leagues bounds. Thanks! It will have a $5 net difference, but all the same players will move, just split into two trades.
-
So we can split it up into two trades and subtract 5$ but with each of our excess cap space, both over 50$ without much to spend it on, it would functionally not change anything about this trade. Except a day or two delayed.
-
What if we do two trades?
-
Hi All, Doing Commish work here. Sorry. In August of 2015 (yes. I went back in the threads), this league decided that we would not allow loans of more than $25 in a trade and we have gone with that since then. That puts the Acuna Bros/Bayside trade out of bounds. Please discuss.

Also selling Reynolds for prospect or low cost player.
-
Im selling cap space for prospects.
-
Nice, thanks! Good to know.
-
And it is an official Ottoneu rule as well.
Each team shall during the regular season maintain a roster of 22 major-league players that can fill out a starting lineup as defined below. The remaining 18 roster spots can be used for reserves, consisting of both major and minor leaguers.
A roster of 22 major-league players capable of filling out a starting lineup as defined below shall be maintained regardless of any games started, games played or innings limits.
-
It has always been a rule that you can’t have a team of 40 prospects which is what the rule is there for.
-
Just curious, why do you need to have a roster of active players? Why can't you punt a position if you want to? Not that I am, just that's a new rule we haven't had before. Sure, you need to be under the cap. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying. It's weird to enforce restrictive rules that aren't part of the system or agreed upon by the group.
-
Nice competitive first month here. Just a note, there are innings & game caps. Also please keep a legal roster which means that you can field a team of ACTIVE major league players in your lineup.
-
It's a sad day for team names 😭
-
It feels like 2019 all over again with the offense!
-
My pitchers got -60 points yesterday. That's good, right? It's like golf? Oh... Oh no.

Happy Opening Day!

Fun trade. Lots of risk and upside on both sides
-
Just a quick update. Please make sure you are able to field a team of ACTIVE major league players in your lineup when the season starts. Illegal rosters should be rectified within 24 hours. Good luck all

Great auction, everyone. Anyone interested in a $17 Edwin Diaz?? (maybe if you're rebuilding?) I'm looking for MI and SP help.

I'm fine with either day!

Draft chat: On Saturday the 18th we have all but one mgr available for the 730p ET time slot and 2 teams are unavailable on the 19th per the poll. (not including New Mr Baseball's votes).
Does anyone take issue with choosing the Saturday 18th 730p ET option and perhaps U-30 can get someone to cover? Discuss. :)

Yeah. Nvm. If it is 930 start I’ll be fine.

I guess it could work at 930 start. Mother in law visiting….

LOL bayside you clicked yes initially to Sunday.

Let me know if a Sunday 9pm EST 3/19 start works for all. We have one conflict on Saturday 3/18 and several at the Sunday 730 start time.
-
Hi All, I updated the draft day to a random day to keep the system from putting us into draft mode before we are ready. Final date will be announced later.
