Want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. Each position has a 162 game cap. If a normal bench player has a game tomorrow, you may not necessarily want to start him, because this counts as 1/162 games for that position, correct? In theory, you would want your best player to fill all 162 games at that position (obviously optimistic).

I am really pumped to get underway!

Draft begins in an hour - see everyone soon!

Happy to answer any questions before we finish off our draft tonight. If not, I'll see you all at 8pm EDT

Draft in under 6 hours. Hope everyone is ready for the late chaos and the speed of everything.
We have about 250 players to do tonight. Make sure to have your queue built up and your late targets ready.
As mentioned and executed night 1 - everyone must nominate. There can be unfair strategic element to skipping nominations. To speed things along I will allow the odd missed/skipped nomination and not reset the timer but won't allow the same team to continue to skip their
-
Sorry Yeah Buddy - hopefully DeGrom is able to return and give you at least a great half season. Good thing is that you'll be able to adjust for Saturday to fill the innings potentially lost
-
You can start 2 on any given day, but only have 162 GS between the two spots for the entire season. Basically, it's that way to give us a way to deal with the inconsistent playing time catchers get.
-
Do we start 1 catcher or 2?

I was thinking a 5โ10 minute break halfway through (2 hours in). And then we go another 2 hours.
I don't believe we have a hard stop but I don't imagine we'll go much past the 4 hour mark tonight (especially because we'll have another night setup to complete the remaining nominations)
-
Just 2 quick questions. Do we have a hard stop time tonight? Or just kinda play it by ear? Also will we have a 5/10 min break in the middle (restroom, grab more beer haha)

A tip for bidding, be careful of using the +1 button as you could accidentally bid after someone does a jump-bid and be stuck with a bid much higher than you intended. Won't happen often but it is something to be aware of.
Definitely worth going into the auction room and setting your watchlist there and getting used the layout.
I'm around/active from now until the draft and am happy to answer any questions anyone might have about the league or draft tonight
-
Thank you for providing that information Meet me at Musial. Another helpful video to see the updated look is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAOIse-tZ8s . Start at 20:00 mark to see the auctions taking place.
You will have 30 seconds to nominate a player. As mentioned, it is good to have your watchlist ready with nominations to speed up the process. Every player must make a nomination.
The bid time for each player is 15 seconds. It resets to 15 seconds every time anoth

@vivoelbirdos - I would check out this Youtube video. I found it helpful. It will be my first draft as well. You want to make sure to load up some players on your watch list that you would like to nominate for bidding.

What exactly is the auction setup. After a player is nominated how are we bidding (blind?) ? And when is the player won?
-
@One Legged Legend - check your messages on Ottoneu. We'll sort it out there
-
Due to very late notice and general unresponsiveness we will unfortunately be proceeding without the original owner.
Thankfully we had someone willing to step in and take over the team. Drafts are still set for Wednesday and Saturday as initially set out. See everyone in 22 hours.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation during this chaotic past week. Hopefully smoother sailing ahead!

Hey everyone,
Still plan on the draft happening tomorrow night - I'm working on possible solutions. Will update everyone tonight with the resolution.
Looking forward to tomorrow night!
-
If you do not have one - we could search for one on the community board
-
To what Sometimes Maybe Good said, ideal situation would be having a proxy you trust and you provide them with your values/draft prep. Thoughts @ One Legged Legend??
-
It might just have to be couch managers at this point if we need to keep pushing it.

I would strongly prefer we keep the draft on Wednesday as I've already made plans around assuming it would be that night... Any chance you can have someone fill in for you, One Legged?
-
Here is a link to another poll for Sunday-Wednesday next week. These are the last possible dates for a draft.
Please fill it out over the next couple days: https://xoyondo.com/dp/qOgZvDG2aWKwawD
With this change we will move the first draft to Saturday at 8pm-12am (EDT)

Thanks for the info, See you on the 30th.

There is no weekly GS cap or season long GS cap for pitchers. It is a 1,500 IP cap for the whole season (shared between SP and RP). No restrictions on how and when those are filled.
There is a 162 GP cap for each position you see in the lineup (excluding the second catcher spot - total Catcher GP cap is 162).
One of the biggest determinants of the final standings is GP and IP total. It's a fine balance between maximizing your points per game/inning while also filling t

Important in-auction note: Everyone is required to make a nomination. This isn't an issue early but the rule holds for the whole draft. I will be quickly resetting the nomination timer before someone misses their turn. This ensures that everyone makes their nominations and nobody is away and missing players up for auction.
Feel free to post additional resources/notes/tips or ask any questions.
Looking forward to the draft on Wednesday and good luck everybody!
-
Another item from experience: make sure you go into the "Auction Draft" well before the draft. Best to familiarize yourself with the set up because things go quick once the auction starts.
Make sure to have a nomination list ready either separately or in the auction watchlist. The part that slows drafts down the most is if the nominations take the full time for each player. It is the difference between a 6 hour draft and an 7.5 hour draft

Awesome, thanks commish! Looking forward to the season everyone!

We have a majority of votes for Option 1. Mark your calendars for the following two nights:
Wednesday March 30: 8pm (EDT) for 4 hours
Saturday April 2: 8pm (EDT) for TBD (Likely 2-3 hours)
Over the next few days I'll be posting some links and quick tips for some of the teams that are newer to Ottoneu. This will help to prepare for the draft and help it move along quickly.
Good luck to everyone and I'm looking forward to the draft and upcoming s

Iโm good with whatever works for the group

And thanks to the commissioner for being so patient and helpful in finding time(s)

At this point I will just adapt. Just let me know!

I'd vote for 1 as well, but am okay with either. Thanks for making this happen!

Iโd vote 1 as well. Appreciate the legwork here Commish and the flexibility from those who had conflicts

As in option 1, so two live drafts

I vote 1

Thanks Commish for working hard on this! I can make anything happen so whatever the majority votes Iโm cool with. I have only done couch managers for the whole draft, so I donโt know how easy it is to do half and half. But I am good with anything. Iโll make it work regardless.

Ideally we could have a resolution by end of Thursday to inform the managers who have been gracious to tweak their availability ๐
Looking forward to the draft(s) and the upcoming season!
-
Please do a quick post on the league message board for one of two options:
1. Two live drafts - 4 hour draft March 30 at 8pm EDT, 2-3 hour draft April 2nd at 8pm EDT
2. One live draft - 4 hour draft March 30 at 8pm EDT. Slow draft beginning shortly after that and timed out to complete before opening day
-
I appreciate the suggestion of a slow draft. I have checked with the couple of managers that were unavailable for the weekend of the 2nd-3rd.
In addition to doing a 4 hour draft on Wednesday March 30th starting at 8pm - we are able to finish the rest of the draft starting at 8pm on April 2nd
I'm open to either solution. If we want to proceed with two draft nights, that seems to work for everybody. If the preference is a slow draft, that also works.
-
I think that's a solid plan. Hopefully we get through the bulk of the players on Wednesday and then just have a relative few to finish up
-
Thatโs fine w/ me Iโm good for anything
