Niv does not monitor every transaction in every league. That would be beyond a monumental task. The Commissioner of the league is responsible for these issues, as they arise, in their league. The Commissioner should have picked one name of the three owners out of a hat and award the player to that owner. The only time a tie for an auction has to be addressed by the Commissioner by coin flip or picking a name out of hat is after the draft and before the start of the season.

An issue was brought to my attention regarding the auction for Ashcroft. Three teams bid the same amount for him, with him being awarded to Poseylicious. The rules state that if prior to the start of the season two teams bid the same amount, the a "coin flip" is done to determine who the player will be awarded to. Below is the response I provided to the owner asking for clarification:
-
Coin flip may be the wrong word. It's not like Niv or anyone is sitting back behind the scenes flipping a coin . The winner is determined by a random number generator. If two guys tie, it's a 50/50 shot. With three guys each would have 1/3 shot. The team who won Ashcroft will be allowed to keep him.
-
Good luck everyone! I hope you all have a fun 2023 season.
-
I'm looking for SP depth and I've got a ton of offensive depth to deal from. I don't need an ace, but I'm open to all offers.
-
Even with a few minor glitches, I think the draft went well. Thanks for your patience with a couple of issues, but overall, it went well. Best of luck this year.
-
Draft day is tomorrow (Sunday, March 12th) and will start at 2pm (PST). The plan is to start on time, so take time to familiarize yourself with the draft room before we start. Thanks and I'll see you in the draft room.
-
We are one week away from our draft, which will take place on Sunday, March 12th at 2:00 pm (PST).
It can move pretty quick at times, so be sure familiarize yourself with the draft and how it works prior to next Sunday. My suggestion is not to wait until the last minute. Thanks!
-
Pay a visit to Slack and our private channel. Let us know what you think about the proposed date and time. Thanks.
-
Hey Everyone! Reminder that the cut deadline and league fee deadline is at 11:59pm ET. Trades can be accepted up to that point.
-
Be sure to visit our Slack channel to vote for a draft date and time. Let me know if you have any issues casting your vote. Thanks!
-
This year's draft will be done in the draft room and not on couch managers. Iโll look at getting a few dates posted for us to choose from.
-
Gotcha. Thanks!
-
No trades til after the auction. The only transactions we can make are cuts, but you'll have a cap hit from the cut as you do during the season.

Hey! Just wanted to clarify since it's my first time playing - after January 31st, are we allowed to continue making trades, or are our rosters completely locked?
-
Thanks Matt!

Sweet, thanks

Whoever is on your squad at that point are your keepers. Make sure you cut anyone you don't want before then.

So, at midnight on Feb 1st, what exactly happens? Whoever is on your squad is locked in, or do you need to designate keepers somehow?

Please send me a private message with your first names. I want make sure I have the correct names for everyone. Once you do, I'll send an email to match team names and first names so everyone know who is who. Thanks!

I need to correct my last message. Kevin will be taking over The Wrath of All and not BigLeagueYu.
-
Please join me in welcoming Kevin to the Boys of Summer . Kevin will be taking over the team formerly known as BigLeagueYu. Kevin has been playing fantasy baseball for many years; however, this is his first Otto team.
Welcome Kevin!

Happy New Year! With the new year now here, it means we are inching closer to Opening Day.
The Keeper Deadline is: Tuesday, January 31, 2023 11:59 PM EST.
I hope you all still plan on playing in 2023, but if for some reason something changed, please let me know.
Thanks!

We are now full! Please welcome Harrison to the Boys of Summer. He's new to Otto so I told him not to hesitate to ask the group any questions. Great to have you Harrison.
Thanks to Robert for recruiting Harrison.
-
Sounds good. Thanks!
-
Yeah, Iโll have to help him with Arb. Iโll get his email and message you on Slack.
-
Perfect. I'll need his email so I can invite him to the league. He will need to do Arb before November 14th, so if he has any questions he can certainly ask me or if you want to assist him with Arb, that would also be fine. Just let me know.
Thanks for getting us to 12.
-
I have a guy that will take it. Heโs never done Ottoneu so heโs up for the challenge. I told him to make an account. What do I do from there?
-
SteveSaxYips. I was mistaken when I posted JZ. Not sure what I was thinking.
-
Which team is available?
-
Hey. One team left. I have someone not in the league who will arb for the team. Let me know if you know someone who wants the team by tomorrow morning. If we canโt find someone by then Iโll have this guy arb for the team. Thanks.
-
Quick update: We still have one opening and I've been trying to get it filled. If we don't fill the team as Arbitration is about to wrap up, I have someone lined up from the Otto community to step in for that team. He's not joining the league, but helping with this part of the off-season. Just an FYI...

Shameless plug for a project I've been working on for awhile...
After posting the information on the boards, I thought, "You should have just emailed the group."
If you watch or listen, I hope you enjoy the content.

Hey Everyone,
Prior to my retirement from the Manhattan Beach Police Department, I thought about having a podcast to focus on First Responders and Military Veterans. The idea was to give them a platform to share their stories and experiences.
-
In May, I contacted a friend who does this type of work and he agreed to help.
As of this post, we've conducted seven interviews (3 Police Officers, 2 Vietnam Veterans, 1 Firefighter/Paramedics, 1 Dispatcher).
I'm excited to announce Episode 1 was launched this morning. The Behind The Line (Tim Hageman) podcast will focus on untold stories from First Responders and Military Veterans.
-
Our first show features Chief of Police Mike Albanese of the Burbank Police Department. Chief Albanese has been serving the law enforcement profession for 51 years; 37 of those years with the Los Angeles Police Department. During his time with LAPD, Chief Albanese worked 27 years on the department's SWAT and CNT teams and was involved in countless crisis incidents both as an operator and in a command-control position.
-
I would be grateful if you watch/listen to the podcast and please subscribe to the show.
We have more episodes that will be released soon.

Please join me in welcoming Mike Wrathall to the Boys of Summer. Mike took over the team formerly known as Fishheads. Mike has been playing fantasy baseball for 10 years, but this will be his first year in Otto Neu. I'm sure he'll have questions, so prove me right when I told him you guys are very helpful. I actually do mean that. We have a great group in the Boys of Summer. We still have one spot left to fill.
-
Welcome Nick!

Please welcome Nick Brucella to the Boys of Summer. Of the three open teams, Nick decided to take over the team formerly known as JZ. Welcome Nick!

Arbitration has started and will end on November 14th, so don't forget to use the $25 and spread it around to each team.
We still have three openings, so if you know someone who would like to join this fine group, send me their contact information along with how you know them. We have one potential, but I haven't heard back from him. I've posted in the managers-wanted channel on Slack, but nothing yet. I would be nice to have the new owner in so he can be involved in arbitration.
