Welcome Eric - most of us did intros via email a little while back but for your benefit I’m Sam from Sydney Australia. I’m a Red Sox fan so im surprised at how far we have gotten this postseason, kind of like how I’m surprised at how my fantasy teams perform too

Hey League! My name is Eric. I grew up in Iowa. Moved to Boston and now live in Los Angeles. This post season is going to be fun.
I’ve been playing fantasy for 5 years or so. I just won 2 of my leagues this year and wanted to find a league that was a bit more challenging and less confined to just 6 months.
I look forward to learning this format and picking your brains.
I probably value players differently than some and am always interested in trades.

Of course, that's what the asterisk was all about! Ok, so November 13th rest of the world/November 14th Australia, please confirm everyone!
-
If it’s 3pm East Coast/9PM Berlin on the 14th it’ll be 7am on the 15th here.

I was thinking of starting early AM like we said before - 7 AM Australia / 3 PM East Coast US / 9 PM Berlin. I think this way everyone would be on the same date, right? (That's what the World Clock converter says at least lol)
-
14th is fine with me, even if it’s the 13th for me because of Sam :P

14th is fine for me provided the time window falls on Sunday Australian time. If it’s the 14th anywhere else it’ll be a Monday for us and I’ll be unavailable due to work. Normally wouldn’t be an issue anyway for me but it’s my second week in a new job haha

Hey everyone, we've got our 12th member, Just Outside, who joined us via Community forum. We are now full and can try to set our first draft date. I agree with Matt, it's best to just set a date and try to get a few rounds in, once we've done that we can decide what to do next. I also get the concern about FAs and such, but the advantage of the auction draft is that everyone can decide to take the risk and place a $XX bid on Semien (for example). So, does November 14th work for everyone?
-
I think we should just pick a date once we get our 12th member where everyone is available and draft away. No point in trying to complicate it and cater for every minor concern when it’s hard enough to get 12 people across international time zones to line up availability
-
My thoughts on draft: I’m fine with early next year. A weekend is probably best because with people across the globe, finding a time that works with every bodies work schedule during the week will probably be tricky.

Yeah, we'll do our best to make it fair (and doable) for everyone. On another note, we still haven't heard back from Ron, so I'm thinking of starting an active search for our 12th man. Does anyone here know of someone or should we go to the managers wanted board?
-
I’m not worried too much about projections as much as I’m worried about drafting guys while they’re free agents. I’d hate for another kimbrel situation. On the other hand, we could do the big names first and auction FA guys later once they’ve signed too. I agree with Nav’s reasoning in your post too, and think we should sim sooner rather than later. All I ask is lots of advance notice so I can arrange to have the kids taken care of etc.

So any thoughts on a draft (start) date? Sam, Nick, everyone, please chime in.
-
Usually they're out right after the WS. Last year zips was out by Nov 10, Steamer was out by Nov 1. Ottoneu founder Niv really recommended "giving ourselves a LOT of time over having full information" (https://community.ottoneu.com/t/best-draft-dates-tools/10189/6). But let's hear what we all have to say about that.
-
I'd suggest starting drafting next year, probably January or February. I'm not even sure projections get released until the new year. But we could use the time to block out dates well in advance when people's schedules are more free.
-
Nah, I just had to enter a date so I put that down as a tentative date. I have to admit I'm a little anxious to see what my roster might look like (never done an auction draft before), so personally I'd like to try to get it done as soon as possible. Also, the Ottoneu experts suggested we use this time advantage we have and try to do at least a few live rounds before we move to slow draft. But I'm cool with whatever we decide as a league, any suggestions?
-
Could be the default date (ie straight after arb)? I was assuming it would be next year
-
Icaro, is the draft date (Nov 14) set the final date?

Hey league, we're still short the two owners (Mike and Ron), I've sent them a reminder. Ron said he's busy moving but asked for the link again, so he should be signing up soon. We'll give them a couple more days, then look in the community forums if we have to.
-
Yikes, you guys are willing to wake up at 6/7 am just for a fantasy draft? I would totally do the same =D
I looked at one of these world clock sites, and the Australia/Germany time diff is now 15 hours in October and comes down to 14 hours in November, so 6 am/8 pm or 7 am/9 pm in the latter.
Ben (Gray Sox) is on as co-commissioner. We're sill waiting on two owners to join from our email list, one is Mike who's been replying pretty often so I'm pretty sure he'll get on soon.
-
Yeah, I be fine with an early Sunday morning Australian time draft.

The draft time would be at 8 pm in Europe. That is perfect. Can't say too much about the date. There is always something going with kids and family stuff. But right now, it looks really good.
-
An Auction draft will take a couple hours from experience in a non-ottoneu setting. I am happy to do a Saturday or Sunday morning draft, I think 6AM Aussie time is 3-4PM Brazil/NYC time?
-
For the draft days, Saturday nights US time would work the best for us Aussies (and that is Sunday morning for us). Not sure how that fits in with Europe time. I also work every second weekend, but am fully available the weekends I don't work.
-
Hahaha! Two Eephus teams! I'll change my name. Didn't see it until after I signed up.
-
Btw, the "draft day" above is a tentative date. Over the next couple of days we should try to find a date that would work for everyone, at least to get us started... Niv really recommends us doing a live draft, at least for the first couple of rounds, and we can pause and restart the draft anytime. We can even go into the season with less than 40 players and do smaller in-season drafts if we have to. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/best-draft-dates-tools/10189

Testing, testing... welcome to Season 1 of the Ottoneu World Order. I hope this league eventually becomes the ultimate dynasty experience we were all looking for when we came up on Ottoneu. I expect us to learn a lot from each other and the site, laught a lot, and engage in cut-throat competition until the very last out in early October. All while keeping it clean and respectful (but I don't even have to say that because I can tell already we've got a good group here). Let's do this!
