Thanks to those who chimed in. If anyone objects, please speak up. If not, it would be great if the commish could reinstate Montero to my roster.
-
That is the way I see it, too.

Bummer. That could happen to any of us. Since it was posted right away, I'm all for the commish undoing that action.
-
Dang, dropping Montero was a mistake, trying to clean up my roster via phone. Not sure if anything can be done about it, but figured I would throw it out there. Thanks.
-
It's okay. I've have 130+ in salary on the IL all season. I'm used to it.

There's a big gap at the top, but looking at the stats in the standings there is a LOT of potential movement out there. Love all the FA action...now let's see some deals! Half a season left.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm headed for a vacation. I'll be slow to react to trade talk and offers in the upcoming weeks.

Speaking of trade offers: I'm looking to get some more power. Anyone interested talking trades? Just let me know.

Side note nothing stopped anyone else from messaging and seeing what package of prospects they could put together for hader or making a deal. Very quite league from the message boards to trade talk, to get disgruntled at a a 2 for 2.
-
Hi all sent this as a reply to a message just going to post here too. Baz is worth 14 more dollars this year than thor rest of season that's not even going into next year. and he gets the number 5 prospect behind,(bobby witt, jrod, adley rutchman, tork and riley greene. so two top tier cheap players for the closer theyre not keeping or using makes sense to me why they took it. If anyone else wants to move those four for on that list ahead of alvarez for a closer I am happy to take a look :)
-
On that note, we'll let our arguments stand. Sorry for being anything short of gracious in accepting criticism and for filling inboxes with message board notifications. Commish, you run an excellent league and we appreciate it.
-
PLUS, we got $26 dollars to put towards keepers or work with in next year's auction. Now if only there were a closer we could get with those dollars...
-
Fair enough, though I still disagree about the $$$. They gave up $29 (at least) next year if they keep Hader. That's $29 worth of other players they can't keep or money they can't spend in the draft. Or they gave up two top-10 prospects for a rental. If that type of move was inherently unfair for contending teams Ottoneu wouldn't allow loans that put them over the cap.
-
I appreciate a commissioner who doesn't just take everything at face value. This is a trade that should have been examined. Seabirds is in first and just got the best closer in the game for prospects (yes, Baz is a stud) and didn't have to give up any $$$ or additional players in the process. But I'm in dead ass last place, so why should my opinion matter? LOL I will approve the trade.

*off. All that being said, we're open to both buying and selling, so send us offers!
-
I dunno, this seemed like a pretty classic expensive-closer-for-prospect(s) dynasty league trade...we just happened to make it before July/August. Luckily, we have decent closer depth if our team suddenly goes on a run. But if the league disagrees we'll accept that and move on. Also poor Thor. Coming of some injuries he's done nothing but pitch to pretty solid mid-rotation ratios and nobody wants to talk about him.
-
I would vote against a veto

If Alvarez breaks camp next year we prefer $3 Alvarez to $13 Contreras (in case the league needed to know).
-
Also, I challenge you to find an eval of Baz that says he's anything but one of the top few pitching prospects in the game. The fact that he's shoved in every one of his major league starts (for a team with a pretty impeccable track record of pitching evaluation and development) except the first one back from injury is a pretty solid validation of most of those evaluations.
-
You're the commissioner and publicly asked the league to to consider vetoing a trade we made...of course I'm testy. We don't think we have a squad that can win this league this year, so cutting Hader in the offseason (or adding a catcher that'll cost us $13 next year) gets us nowhere. Neither team had cap space, so there was no way to make him pay for it this year. We got cap flexibility for next year; that's how loans work.
-
Like, why not ask for Contreras instead of Alvarez?
-
You can cut Hader at the end of the year. You don't have to hold him forever. And by giving up $26 in a loan you're only having your opponent pay $1 to get the best closer in the league. Baz is a good prospect but he's not a top flight pitcher. And I already said what I felt about Alvarez. And no need to get testy. I'm not trying to make it "look a certain way." I'm just telling you how it looks from my perspective.
-
Also, where was the magical cap space that either team had that was going to be in a salary exchange?
-
A a closer we'd have to keep for $30 for a top pitching prospect with a bonus major league track record and top 5 hitting prospect (regardless of position). See I can make a trade look a certain way with my words.
-
I've never vetoed a trade in this league before, but this one feels pretty rough. What do the rest of y'all think? I just don't understand it from Dr.'s perspective. Maybe if he was getting some cap help, but he's not. Alvarez is a good prospect, but at the end of the day he's a catcher prospect. Those flame out like over half the time.
-
Giving the number one team in the league Hader and not even making him pay salary for him?
-

Cap Space. You can add a player you previously cut, cut them again, and free up cap space.

Does anyone have a preference between 9:00 and 10:00 start time?

If we are going to roll with 3/29, I can make a 9 pm start time work, assuming that works better for most if not all.
