I will give you Jared Young for literally nothing from you, just to get you legal. I get my $1 back I spent on him.
-
I'll put Henry Davis up too.
-
Anyone who has ideas should feel free to approach me with them. I will continue to monitor waivers for opportunities to become compliant.
-
Bullshit. Suarez for Abreu and Keith is not "fleece."
-
And, Brad, I started an auction for Jared Young (1B, 3B, OF) that ended July 4. You could have gotten him for $1.
-
Literally, within the past 10 seconds. And you wanted to fleece me.
-
Yes :)
-
I have seven guys who have 1B eligibility, which I just discovered you mentioned in a Tweet. Have you made an offer to me for any of them?
-
Suarez, Rodon, Mullens, Adell are all available.
-
I didn't have the cash for Bell. I nominated Cano. I didn't have the money for Mounty. Nobody else is rosterable. I'm working on it. I've made fair offers to everybody who has 1B stockpiles. fwiw, Hulet never had complete rosters in FG2 so there's precedent for the all-prospect team. I think my promise to continue working on this within reason and not break the rule in future should be sufficient.
-
I agree with Chad/Niv. As the commissioner, I'll unilaterally revoke any deal from a team that does not have a legal roster (unless the team is using the trade to get legal). I think we've been great at policing ourselves, so I hope the league doesn't have to revoke a trade. Brad, I'm sure there are many teams here who'd love to deal their first basemen for one of your players. It's just one roster spot. There's no need to hold out on something so minor.
-
This tweet and the thread around it are what I am referring to, in case anyone is curious.

@camarcanov in Threads.

this is niv, feel free to post this to twitter (again) but you didn't claim or bid on two (2) 1B that we just recycled after saying on twitter that we were hoarding 1B, so yeah brad, fix this.

It's been about 3 weeks and you still don't have a 1b nor have you started any auctions for them. I can't speak for anyone else (this is Chad) but I'd vote to veto any deal you make that doesn't include a 1B and make your team legal, unless you have added a 1B first...

As predicted, Eugenio Suarez is back to mashing. Any contenders need a power jolt at 3B/UT?
-
If anyone’s opened a Threads account, please post your username here. I’m at @milehighrobert.

Rodon is back this week.
-
Got an interesting opening offer for Rodon. Willing to hear more but planning to keep him.
-
Eugenio for a similar quality 1B? I can probably still get away with trading Jon Gray, but the offers I've gotten seem to value him like a scrub. He's already earned $6.3 this season per the FG auction calc. Easy keeper/core performer.
-
alighty, well I've put out 5 offers for 1Bs in the last day so it should be addressed soonish.
-
I agree with Chad.
-
I think the spirit of the rule is that you should, like an MLB team, be expected to be able to field a lineup. I get some leeway to avoid forcing cuts for a short-term injury, but the 60/10 day division is an easy one to use: if you get a roster spot back, you need to use it. I also don't think it takes much micromanaging, TBH. In my other leagues, once people know the rules they just...follow them. And if someone messes up (they will) we just point it out when we notice and they fix it. -Chad

My suggestion is that any MLB or formerly MLB player of any status is an acceptable "starter." That's the minimum/simplest interpretation of the rules. We'd probably never need to think about this again.
-
Do you really want to micro-manage that though? What about guys out for the season on the 10-day? What about guys on the 60-day due to return within a week? What's the penalty? What do we do when a manager is afk for a couple weeks?
-
I’d say 15-day IL is OK, but 60 is not (especially since the 60-day gives you an additional roster opening).
-
In any case, I need for us to decide on the matter of 60-day IL guys before I can proceed.
-
I'd like for us to explore what Niv's stated. The rules aren't particularly clear on this detail. I think an obviously rebuilding club shouldn't have to concern themselves with the degree of injury to player. Especially if they are otherwise managing their roster in good faith.
-
Injured guys are ok if they seem to be returning soon. Not a hard rule but someone on the 60 with no rehab in sight is different than someone on the 15 that is already on their rehab assignment - Niv

One caveat I would suggest is that injured players count toward the MLB total. (PS, I think I'm 3-3 since returning from travel and I'm winning both my matchups this week)
-
Yeah, it’s an important rule to follow - especially in H2H.
-
In terms of general competition, it’s a great rule. Also, as the season gets toward late summer and some teams fall out of playoff contention, please make sure you’ve got a lineup ready to go for that night—and not one guy playing and 20 guys on your bench.
-
Per Brad's post, Ottoneu rules state teams must have 22+ MLB players and be able to fill out a full lineup. Interpretation/enforcement is handled league-by-league and league 13 hasn't discussed it. I think the rule is important for competitive balance/economics, and we can enforce it by pointing out violations, asking the team to get legal, and expecting they will do so. Other leagues ignore the rule, but we don't recommend that. Any thoughts on this? Any questions? We should get aligned - Chad

It's come to my attention that I'm required to roster an MLB 1B. hmu if you've got spares. Rather not waste a spot on the FAs.
-
I have potential keepers, if you’re looking for a reset this season. I’d like an MI.
-
Made a few offers involving Taylor Ward if anyone is interested.
-
Probably easier for me to remain focused on dealing Gray, Eugenio, and/or Ober.
-
Got an inquiry about Tatis and Acuna. I can't imagine there is a deal out there that makes sense for me, but there *might* be someone holding the right pieces for Juan Soto. Ideally, a 1-for-1 concept involving a 1B, 2B, or SS.
-
Eugenio is heating up with the weather (peripherals match career norms) and Jon Gray is on fiyah. Come and get 'em.
-
👀 You're welcome?
-
Whoever started that Manoah auction, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you.
-
Next up on the auction block is Eugenio Suarez. Check his peripherals - unchanged from last year. Buy low now and catch his summer heater. Offer needs to be better than cutting him ($14). Not looking for anything crazy.
Anyone who wants warm bodies at MI, SP, or RP, I have them.
-
I'm probably just about done my housekeeping for the season. Open to ideas for Matt Olson (should involve a cheap, long-term 1B replacement, one who isn't punching at Olson's weight). Similar situation with Brandon Nimmo. If you want to take a shot at Brady Singer recovering or would like J.P. Crawford's steady MI skillz off the bench, most rostered prospects would be acceptable.
-
With the OPL cutoff coming up I can’t really afford to see how many weeks my $12 Cedric Mullins is going to be sitting out. I’d be interested is swapping him for a rental bat at OF or elsewhere. Looking to make a move in the next 24 hours or so - hit me up if you’re interested!
-
Back from travel. Robertson's still being wasted. Also got some nibbles on Olson while I was out.
-
Robertson's being wasted on my roster. Come and get him.
-
All this manager talk has reminded me: how would everyone feel about me adding a co-manager? He's not in the baseball industry, but I think he'd really like Otto and he has never played before. Also he might help me remember to use all my starts every week :).
-
Thanks to the Hawken crew for coming through for all of us! And welcome to the league, Esteban.
-
Esteban Rivera has taken over TTBNL! Just in time.
