Just a reminder that arbitration is open (ending November 14).

Arbitration starts October 15th, so I would guess everything is clear by then

Thanks for a fun year, guys. I'm already looking forward to next year.
When do cap penalties clear?

Thanks Blue Jays. It was literally all luck in the semis. Great league with a lot of competetive teams. I'm already looking forward to 2025.

Congrats New York 86ers!

Also, shoutout to Kyle Hendricks. I’m a Yanks fan by birth but been in Chicago for 15 years, Cubs season ticket holder. Went to the game today, didn’t realize his last start. Came in with a 6+ ERA. Pitched 7.1 shutout, 2 hits. Standing O and curtain call when he came out. Had a great 3-4 year stretch and last Cub remaining a part of 2016
-
Congrats to everyone. After BJ whooping my ass a few years in a row, I made it in this year without truly deserving it.
Also, props to me for being the last post in that stats correction thread!
-
Yeah. It makes sense logistically for head to head. But yeah brutal nonetheless.

Looks like stats get corrected later, but the results of H2H matchups remain the same anyway. That is, what I take from Niv’s answers. That is just brutal.
-
Good catch. I can look into the details, but my guess is it’s because of a stat correction: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/loss-with-higher-points/12117/10

Don‘t know what to do with it. But when you look at the results for week 23, it has flipped and now ABLA is in front with 3 points. So I should not be in the final I guess. Any ideas, what this is all about?
-
Adding to the Parity, all four of these teams were mid-pack last year - in most cases barely edged out of the playoff race - and came back with a vengeance this year. Great league overall

Wow, all four teams in the semi-finals within 60 points. Extremely tight race for the title this year.

Yes, just as a reminder, in the playoffs, the 10 GS cap resets after the first week (Rule 1.E.iv). Thanks for the reminder and apologies for the confusion.

That is what I was thinking.

When did pitching start to reset in the double weeks?

I can't speak for Blue Jays, but I'm OK with it. I was the team that didn't deserve to get in last year and I ended up the overall winner; this is my penance.

The two teams with the most points did not make the playoffs. Fantasy baseball is just weird sometimes. Blue Jays and Rearden Steel definitely deserve more luck next year.

If anyone is interested in football, check out the Claims page - the league is called The Good Place (league 148). We're looking for some owners.

I do not know why the initial auction winner bid $5 and then cut him, but once cut you would let him pass through waivers and reauction to try to keep his price down. If he debuts this year he will get $2 added onto that price in the offseason
-
Can someone explain to me why one team would auction Brady House, then cut him, and then someone else auctions him again right away rather than claiming him off waivers? Is it because his minimum salary would be $5 when claimed off waivers but $3 when reauctioned? I just want to make sure I have that right.

Just a reminder (I believe) that this scoring period spans two weeks - with the ASB in the middle - but still only has a 10 GS cap. So choose your SPs judiciously!
-
Lmao! I can’t help that my whole team has been hit by the injury bug! But a good name is a good name damnit! Dont hate (He/him/me) !
-
Can I make a formal protest against this entire season because a team called "Bogaerts That Joint" no longer has Bogaerts on his/her team?

Happy Opening Day everyone! Best day of the year! Make sure you get in on Pick Six! Pretty fun. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/sixpicks/#

Now they're showing up. False alarm, sorry.
-
Our league was supposed to start today, correct? I'm not showing any stats for this game (and nothing others as well), but I imagine its just a data glitch due to the international circumstances?
-
Sorry I missed your message until now - Did you find someone to help out? I have no idea what I am doing in Ottoneu but I can try if you still need a hand

Is anyone willing to be temporarily added as a co-commish for the draft? I may have to step away for a couple mins at some point this afternoon, and it would be good for someone else to have commish/pausing controls in case any issues pop up.

Hope the auction lobby is working for everyone. It seems to be a weird Chrome issue that is affecting only certain users (its working on Chrome for me at the moment)

Apparently it's a Chrome issue per Niv. I am now on with Microsoft. Its just odd that my 1st two draft rooms were flawless. My drafting however - was NOT....
-
I just went into draft lobby and it shows you are in the lobby too.... so not sure if you fixed it or what. I am not having problems.

Glad to hear live auction is feasible. FWIW, it seems a moot point now, but I posted this question in the Community if anyone is curious for any other leagues. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/managing-multiple-auctions-at-the-same-time-in-a-slow-draft/14066

I also have had no problems with couch managers slow drafts. You do have to take into account when coinciding auction ends but its very manageable. As a courtesy most stagger their nominations so they dont end at the same time like 10-15 minutes in between so at least theyre not doubling up. some do it as a strat. just another style of draft like auction vs draft pick.

I've confirmed that Mar 17th 4ET/1PT works, so we will stick with that.

I also wonder about the option to pivot if you don't get a guy you are targeting. With 24-36 players being auctioned at once, say you need/want a SS and have targeted 3 players and all 3 are being auctioned at once... you have a decent probability of winding up with too many SS or no SS. Can someone explain how that works?

My biggest concern with slow draft is: if there are multiple auctions going on simultaneously, doesn’t that pretty much remove any ability to pivot and focus on alternate options if you don’t end up with a player you hoped for? Can someone who’s done one before comment on their experience with that?
-
I really like the slow draft idea. Did this in another league with Couchmanagers and it went really well.
-
I appreciate everyone's input. I know lots of us have family and other commitments (which is probably why we have trouble finding a draft date each year!). I've given some thought to having a set draft date each year to keep things fair/transparent, but I'm not sure that would help more than it would hurt participation.

Just checking in with one more team about the Mar 17 draft date. I'll keep everyone posted.
If we go with a slow draft, there would be multiple auctions simultaneously (likely 2-3 nominations per team). The auctions would be up for 12 hours, with the timer restarting after each bid (and I believe the clock would stop at night). So it's not much of a time commitment (checking in once a day could suffice) but it would be a different draft experience for sure.

I am fine with March 17th as a date. I have similar questions about how a slow draft would work with this many players to put up for auction. My other concern would be having to focus on a draft for 3 weeks vs one day. That's a lot of focus for me away from family and other considerations. But I also know we want everyone to have a fair chance to participate. So, ultimately, I will make whatever is decided work.

I'm good with whatever option. I know we discussed it last year, but not sure I understand how a slow draft would work considering the auction. I think I remember someone saying that a few auctions are going on simultaneously? Not ideal. But whatever we need to do, I guess.
-
March 17th is fine with me - curious how a slow draft works in an auction scenario, have not done that myself, but whatever works for the group is fine with me

March 17th is great with me. I've never done a slow auction draft but that's fine too.
-
So the date/time with the fewest conflicts is March 17, starting at 4pm ET/ 1pm PT. That still leaves us with 2 managers unavailable, which is not ideal.
Does anyone have any thoughts for/against a slow draft? I know we had some preliminary discussions on this last year, but were ultimately able to find a draft time that worked.

Great about Queen City. I've had to use Microsoft Edge to pay in case that might be the issue. Chrome has not worked. For me, at least.
