A simulator good be a useful tool to reference especially if your a novice. Again, that simulator does not take into consideration league settings, dynasty, nor salaries. Those variables could offer different results.

That "neutral" evaluation is not for dynasty so of course it will be one sided for this season hahaha

Have given

And you have the other team over 10 pct of your cap on top of that.
-
Brue Freres ... Here is a neutral evaluation of the crap you got back. Luciano's ETA isn't until 2024
https://www.fantasysp.com/trade/mlb/21160201/woodruff-gray-baz-iglesias-luciano
The simulator shows it as ridiculously one-sided.

Wining formula or it would be too easy. It also should be fun of course.

Honestly, I’m my opinion, your walking a fine line if you veto a trade. Outside of proven collusion vetoing a trade is quite difficult. First off, it’s very subjective. People value players differently and there’s is also different ways to build a winning team/ managers have different strategies. You also have to take in consideration if the team is rebuilding. Also, a team trading away assets to make a push for first has to be looked at too. One person does not have the magical

I agree with the commish and Big Papi. As people vote, I would suggest that the threshold for vetoing should be higher than preferring one side of the trade to the other. I think the discussion so far suggests that there are arguments for both sides of the trade, even if you don’t agree with them. I don’t think collusion is involved. I have my own opinions on pretty much every move, but it’s important that everyone be able to manage their team (outside of collusion, etc.).

How is getting two top prospects “crap”?

I’m happy we can have a discussion about it. Just to reiterate think fairest thing is to ask everyone to vote on the trade please. Like Papi says this is a game and not to sound too corny but we want this to be enjoyable experience for everyone.

After reading all the posts, I think it'a good trade considering Woodruff was at 40$. I think Columbus didn't like his pursuant getting two good pitchers in contention race and it's easy to understand, I had the same situation in another league where I'm in 1st place and 2nd place got a sh....load of good players in a trade, I had to bit the bullitt. This is a game and yes there is little money involved, but we must continue to have fun with it. I like Royale's post on Aug 11 at 3:33
-
Brue Freres ... You gave $12 in cap space + players ... To get back crap.
Relievers aren't needle movers to get to 18,000 pts ... And rarely retain value for long, anyway.
Doing nothing, cutting Woodruff and putting the Woodruff $ to work on over performers/future value in re-draft ... Much better range of positive outcomes for you in 2023.
No balance to this trade. At all.
-
Honestly curious what you'd do if you were me Columbus. Would you just hold on to Woodruff with a $40 salary or maybe take a trade that might not be perfect but gives you some good prospects and a reliable RP? It's easy to criticize when you're top. I'm trying to get my team ready for next year. As I've said happy to show off all my rejected and cancelled trades to show how I've been trying to offload Woodruff.

I kind of understand where you're coming from. Part of the appeal of Ottoneu is how realistic it is. It's like OOTP in real life. I think this was a bad trade but realistic.
Regarding "gutting" other teams in a trade, would an MLB team ever say something like that? Like the Padres should have just told the Nats no? Soto was going to get paid an insane amount and the Nats weren't going to pay it along with not being in playoff contention. They had to get something for Soto.
-
Woodruff had been on the trade block for AGES. I have tried to ship him off for younger SPs like the ones I have on my trade block and every other trade I tried to make involving Woodruff was either rejected or ignored for days even though the manager had clearly logged in. So am I to just leave Woodruff on my team while in 10th place then I cut him or do I take what I can get even if it's not my first choice?

I won't gut other teams in a trade.
Where I finish ... Is where I finish.
Based on your responses ... I know what to do with my roster after the season.
Appreciate the engagement.
-
Royale's last post is exactly what I am raising visibility on: bad trades should not encourage more bad trades ... "To keep up."
Bad trades should be stopped ... At any time, IMO. Bad precedent, otherwise.
If this trade goes through ... I don't see how any trade will ever get vetoed here.
-
Also trades involving these big pieces actually allow for more parity. For example, if any of the contenders want to keep up, they have to give up valuable future assets. Columbus can’t just coast to first while also keeping future value.
-
My two cents: Not a great trade by any means but I don't think it's a league killer, doesn't seem to be any collusion, and woodruff has been on the block for a while - so I'm inclined to approve.
Further; fully support commissioner to take any action against aggressive messages, no need to put up with that.
-
I would also like to just publicly warn Brue about the tone of messages he has sent me. If anyone has any problems with the way this league is being run then feel free to air on this message board. I do no appreciate receiving aggressive private messages over something like this.
-
I would agree it is not a league killing trade. That being said, the additional cap space is unusually high for that trade. I would please ask everyone to vote on the trade - this is precisely what that mechanism is for.
-
For a month maybe ? How many starts am i really getting ? I don’t need to justify this deal to anyone but if the majority of the league vetoes it is what it is.

I didn’t know this trade would cause this much of a rift. From the guy in first place that I’m trying to catch up too. Baz could be a bust yes but he could be an ace too. What pitchers now a days don’t have arm problems ? And Tommy john? It seems to be getting more common now especially with younger pitchers. I am trying to gain in SP so yes I need SP and I traded for it. You either make a deal or you don’t. The guys I’m getting underwater contract wise. Probably rentals for sure.

If that gets vetoed this league is a joke. Have messaged Commish asking him to at least comment on this matter. Will happily show off rejected or just cancelled trades. Tried to ship Woodruff off and thought better to actually get something for him than nothing. I'm obviously trying to rebuild.

It's definitely not a league killing trade like Columbus says. I think he's a little rattled the guy behind him in the standings got a huge upgrade to SP.
But with that being said, think about next year. A $5 player in the low minors, $7 pitcher with elbow issues, and a $14 RP who might not even be closer.
I would have certainly given you $2 Melendez for Woodruff and I think that's a pretty significant upgrade. Woodruff is a rental for anyone trading for him regardless
-
You can check my messages. Didn’t trade with Royale because he only has Melendez that I like. Lorenzo and Paw Sox either didn’t respond or kept rejecting my offers for their young guys and I was running out of time to ship players I wanted to cut.

Yeah, what? The trade seems fine to me.
-
How is it not fair? I’m getting two great young guys and a solid RP for two guys I’m gonna cut. Cap space was to sweeten the deal.

Tried to trade for Woodruff too but never heard back from him. I'll veto it too because it's a tad bit ridiculous. Baz isn't even throwing yet.
-
If trades like that continue ... this league will be dead within 3 seasons. At most 3 seasons. I have seen this road develop with other Ottoneu leagues. It does not end well.
-
I vetoed the trade between Sockemboppers and Blue Freres. It is grossly one-sided towards Sockemboppers, especially with the $12 in additional cap space.
-
With a high bid, the player has to start performing soon ... Otherwise it backfires on the winning owner. Look at what has happened to me and Big Papi with Juan Yepez.
-
Great discussion.
-
Feel free to bid whatever you want, no sense in ending the season with $$. This is a competitive league, putting artificial limits on bids won’t make it any better. Most of the high bids will be FAs.

I like Massey. I think he's going to be a good player. I would normally bid $2-3, but knowing how you roll, I upped that to $12.
-
I like it Big Papi - going big to get your guys.
-
So, am I wrong, am I playing against the values of Ottoneu, tell me (I'm not the only owner doing this). Need your lights or opinion here fellow Ottoneu owners
-
Well, it seems to p.... off some owners that I do that and I can understand. But what's the use of having cap space if you don't use it to get guys you believe are going somewhere (though Massey has a short history up to now). When I bet 5 or 6, I get beaten. Sometimes some guys are furious because I got a guy at 10$ (but if I get it at 10, it means somebody had to bet 9 at the same time for that player......).
-
Hahahahha
-
Shoutout to Papi for bidding $15 on Massey. Knew he would do that.
-
Looking to turn Woodruff into a couple younger arms. Rodon also still available.

Congratulations to Nick Senzel ... Now with his 4th team in this league.
Has to be among the leaders in Cat's Cradle in that category. Lol.
As owner of one of his three previous teams and an Ohio guy ... I hope he can stay healthy and find his niche in MLB.
-
Welcome to the league!
-
Nice one man - thank you for taking it over, hopefully get some building blocks for next year
-
Hey everyone, I just took over this team. Looking forward to being in the league! I’ll be making my cuts and updating trading block shortly. I’m obviously focusing on next year at this point, so I’ll be looking to move high priced win now pieces for future value. If something on my team interests you, let me know!
-
Agree, being a points league I don’t see ant downside to getting an active owner. H2H, different story.

Yeah he hasn't replied to any of my emails or messages unfortunately so think will have to take action which is a shame mid-season

Also think we should mention Dewey hasn't been signed on since April.

Yup
