Today's a big day for the league with Royce and Rick only 20 points apart coming into the last day of their matchup for the last playoff spot. Both have one last SP going today so we got Jordan Montgomery for Royce going up against Tyler Mahle for Rick. Royce will need a big offensive output to pull off a last day upset!

Deadline is a comin’. I’m selling big time to hit me up for some deals.

What an exciting final two weeks! Ynoa and I are basically playing for the 4th playoff spot!
-
Tell me about the playoffs - for those teams that do not make the top four, are those teams locked from making moves during the playoffs or able to continue to work on roster development for next season? And how long are playoffs? One week for semifinals and one week for finals?
-
I propose that we add an "injury handicap" that gives you a scoring multiplier based on the state of your IL. I currently have $186 of my roster on my IL (and have for most of the past two months) and get a big fat NOTHING for it. LOL. *injury gripe is now over*
-
A word of advice for the new players as we enter the final stretch of the regular season: if you have players you may not keep or are out of the race for the playoffs, this is the PERFECT time to make some moves. Trade a high priced player as a rental and go after glorious SURPLUS. Gathering some low cost valuable players at this stage of the game will greatly help you next season.
There are good resources out there to help you with trade decisions!
-
Once arbitration concludes you will get a period of time where you can make trades or cut players in order to get your roster in legal standing (under $400 budget with at least $1 available for every empty spot on the roster). Any cuts made during this time are penalty free and after the cut/trade deadline all cap penalties are wiped out.
All that said, you can keep as many players as you can afford in your budget!
-
Looking forward: you can keep as many players as you can afford with your team budget. At the end of every season in Ottoneu every MLB level player salary will increase by $2 and minor leaguers will increase $1. We will then enter a period of arbitration where ever team manager will each get to spread $25 of player salary increases across every team in the league. It's a wonderful time of year. Both the auto increase and the arbitration period will alter all of your player salaries.
-
Question looking forward: what’s the keeper plan for next season (how many players will we be able to keep) as we start to make decisions about rosters with which we end the season.
-
With 5 weeks remaining we have 6 teams still in the running with 4 teams tied for 3 spots and Royce just 1 game back.
At 8-9 You Play like a gurriel looks to be eliminated and Bad-Ball Bums is hanging in at 9-8 with another must win week against another playoff contender.
Game of the week: 11-6 ¯_(ツ)_/¯ vs 13-4 Motion to Strike
Top team in the league vs 6th place and trying to hold on to playoff contention. Huge matchup!
-
With 6 weeks remaining we have 6 teams within 2 games of each other competing for 4 spots in the playoffs.
The matchup of week looks to be 12-4 Motion to Strike vs 12-4 That's Soto Raven.
Also, both 8-8 teams who are on the verge of elimination have their shot this week with matchups against top 5 teams!
-
Looking to focus on next year and move Cole Judge and Bauer. Hit us up or send some initial offers our way.
-
You are correct, top 4 get in, single elimination, 1 week matchups
-
Just to confirm, playoffs are top-4 teams by record and single-elimination thereafter?
-
No, you have to re-auction and cut them again to get another half back.
-
Harold, do cap penalties go away a month after you cut them?
-
My page isn’t showing any starters and I have some games at 7. Is this happening to anyone else?
-
Back-to-back match-ups against Harold?! He might be 4-4 but his team is better than his record indicates! Hoping I can win the rubber match.
-
You almost had a nice comeback. Fernando Tatis had other plans
-
1 point... 1... heartbreaking.
-
Looking for a 5th OF and another RP. Let me know if anyone is interested in making a deal!
-
Lindor's cut was probably lost in the list of cuts that happened yesterday morning/afternoon between two teams.
-
Hey Royce!
1) I definitely get overwhelmed with communication as well, especially with being in 4 leagues! If you click on Profile you can pare down the emails to only the items you'd really like to see if you'd like. I also set up an email rule in my inbox to send all my Ottoneu emails in one place so my inbox doesn't get overwhelmed.
2) Unfortunately I have no control over waiver timeline. It's a 24 hour window for every league in Ottoneu.
-
Two grievances:
1. Half my Ottoneu emails go my junk mail. It’s not an efficient way of notification.
2. Waiver claims are too short for dropped players. Case in point - I found out about Lindor when we he was claimed and not when he was cut, nor did I see his cut status on the homepage before he was claimed. Haha. Can we lengthen cut players to same time frame as auctions please?
-
If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know about this either. Thanks for asking the question!
-
FYI: found out that on the lineup page there is a dropdown with a "Next 7 Days" option that shows all the pitching probable starts :)
-
Hey everyone, I submitted a feature request for H2H, check it out and if you think it's a good idea then vote for it so that it gets more visibility :)

-
Do we actually have a tie for first place to the tenth?? 2572.4 for both of them. Wild!
-
Oh man, that's a bad side effect.
-
BIG FYI: Updating the contracts has moved affected players out of lineups today (I just noticed on my lineup). Please recheck your lineups ASAP :)
-
Thank you Matt for your flexibility and happy birthday! :)
$5 update has been completed!
-
Hi everybody! Sorry I missed this conversation, it was my birthday yesterday, so I was definitely not golfing and drinking heavily haha. I would be against the stimulus, but I’m also an experienced Ottoneu and I understand that I missed the vote, so I’m fine with whatever outcome.

Update: $5 stimulus passes. Will be applied tonight when I get time to do it. :)
-
It was an idea proposed by a team manager. The proposal is this: every team's top 5 highest paid players each get a $1 reduction in salary which would produce an overall extra $5 in cap space for every team. This was brought up to ease cap space difficulties especially for newer players still learning the game.
This would be a one time thing that I would administer as the commish. Since it was brought up I'm letting the league decide on it but I want complete consensus :)
-
I'm still not sure I see the point of the stimulus idea. Is this from Ottoneu? Or a commish idea? Was there an official proposal given at some point? I think all I've seen are reactions to a proposal but not the proposal itself.
-
You can still vote here if you haven't yet: https://linkto.run/p/BUBRUF5F
-
Also, update, currently we have 8 official yes votes, 0 official no votes, 2 abstaining and ok either way, and my official commish abstain since I will do whatever the league wishes in terms of granting this 1 time $5 cap relief
-
boooo on yahoo lol :)
-
I want to go back to yahoo! Lol
-
I didn't get any information about stimulus, so I'm not sure what you are all talking about. I feel fine with my budget and don't want to complicate it!
-
I understand where you’re coming from No Soup for Yu. I see the 5 dollar stimulus as a benefit for a first year league with no downside. Sure this format is about managing money and managing well, but this should stimulate the market without any downside (I.e tax hike 😂) it should provide more excitement for those who are looking to deal and can’t. I’m down for it this year and this year only as a one time benefit. No further packages should be approved after this. Just my 2 cents.
-
That's kinda the idea free up the transaction side that makes this format so much fun. So many teams are restricted by singular dollar amounts that they end up just staying pat as a transaction isn't worth their remaining dollars. Now I wouldn't expect this bump to evaporate in auctions right away, but make transactions more frequent throughout the end of the year. $5 with singular amounts on the top 5 players won't affect our long-term values at all.
-
On the flip side, I realize there are a lot of newcomers that may have made mistakes in the draft or maybe even didn't know all the rules initially. I could see it making sense to give people some grace due to this. So a couple questions. Does anyone have a concern that this money will just immediately evaporate during auction anyway and we'll just need more $? Does anyone have other thoughts to convince me to be in favor?
-
Before voting, I would like to understand this better. Right now I need some convincing. In my opinion most teams are doing ok with cap space. There are roughly 4-5 teams that are very tight, but in looking at those teams most of them could make moves to free up some space, as I've seen other teams do (for example, Harold cutting Eloy, Sanchez getting cut twice, etc.). Part of ottoneu is managing your budget, so I feel like this is a natural part of the game.
-
Everyone, I have a simple poll for the stimulus proposal. I will support whatever the league supports but in this case I need unanimous approval to go forward with this. Voting is open and is anonymous: https://linkto.run/p/BUBRUF5F
-
STIMULUS!!! 💵
-
Can we re-look at that stimulus $5 removed from everyone's top player? It looks like half of the league couldn't add a player and cut a $1 player almost. Just got a decent trade offer but couldn't make the cap work to make it workable. Some teams will only grow in cap space and get to further leverage that to cushion the other teams.
-
I’m looking to trade Realmuto for an OF. Anyone interested?
-
Correct, no matter how many innings they pitch, if they start the game it counts against the Games Started cap.
-
That’s helpful! And by 9 starts, it doesn’t matter how many innings an SP lasts? Thinking injuries or getting pulled for a poor start, etc.
