Probably stupid to say this but, after doing this for a few years I have come to the conclusion. After the elite RPs, it's worthless to waste any $$$ on relievers. It seems like you just wait 2-3 weeks into the season and grab no name relievers that are off to a decent start for $1-$3.
It seems like the most reliable bang for your buck easily found at any position.

Wow, Sultans of Statcast has come out of the gates on fire! He's the second highest scoring team so far in all of Ottoneu (FgPts leagues)!!!

No problems here. Let it roll. There is no way to know if the trade woulda been accepted as well. No reason an owner shouldn't be able to make transaction moves when waiting for if someone may or may not accept a trade offer. So long as at the end of it, roster is legal, shouldn't be an issue. And the penalty is there that roster locks until corrected too.

I agree, and am only referring to extreme circumstances. For example, in another league a team made a number of significant claims late in the season and decided they wanted to make a "strategic choice" to just accept the penalty and carry a significantly illegal roster into the offseason when the roster requirements are removed. They were like $79 over cap. Technically the software probably allows it, but I don't think it should be an option. But 99.9% of the time, the default is hand
-
We need to keep in mind that not everybody can check their lineup on every day throughout the season. If an auction or trade puts someone over for a day (or few days), so be it. The "penalty" is that you can't change your lineups in the meantime. Hands off is the approach I want here.
-
It processes in a few hours ... 4:57pm EST
-
Since this tiptoes into some grey area, I would clarify though that my belief is that maintaining a legal roster IS a requirement, not a choice. I don't think a team can choose to maintain an illegal roster at the expense of giving up day-to-day activity as a strategic choice. In my mind the distinction here is that the issue has been resolved, it just isn't taking effect immediately.
-
The most confusing part is that I can't see when the trade will clear because every time I try to view the trade or roster screens, it redirects me to cut players in order to get to a legal roster. I thought the trade was supposed to process this morning for some reason.

I tend to take a pretty hands-off approach to how others want to manage their team/roster in Ottoneu. I'm feeling a little handcuffed with my roster right now, and the season hasn't even started in full swing. I would not choose to do this mid-season. If an owner elects to make a move like this, I'm inclined to allow it- it has it's own built-in punishment of sorts.

Honestly, my initial feeling is that perhaps it's fine even mid-season. You have "resolved" your issue, it's just isn't taking effect immediately. For what it's worth, I even got Niv's feedback on Slack, and he seems to think it's fine as well. That said, since the conversation has come up, we might as well set the proper league precedent so that it can be consistently enforced and my feeling is that league rules should be determined by everyone, not just the commissioners so I'm open
-
Full scenario- I proposed the trade I think a day before I started the auctions. Then I started the auctions and nominated more players than I should have- and then the trade was accepted. I got more players than I intended in the FA auction, but the trade negates that issue except for Lynn, who I already cut. I would not have done this maneuver mid-season.

I'm fine with it in this situation, but to your point, what if someone makes moves based on a trade and then it's vetoed? I also think it's important to clarify that Sultan started these auctions before the trade went through, so originally the intent must have been you were going to drop someone. Maybe we say keep it under 24 hours?
-
That said, perhaps we should determine a house rule here, and base it on the worst-case example which would be that somebody accepts a trade right before their waiver claims process and now their roster is set to be illegal for nearly two days while the trade processes ... are we comfortable with that? Certainly that will leave the owner without the ability to make any other roster moves during that period until the roster is legal again, so there's a punishment of sorts built-in.
-
My initial reaction is that since you already have the mechanism in place to resolve your issue, and it's processing in a few hours anyway, it seems ok to me. I'm open to thoughts from others on this though?
-
I have a trade pending that will free up three roster spots, and my FA acquisitions have put me three spots over. I made the acquisitions after the trade was accepted. Do I have to cut players before the trade processes?

Hey guys, my ESPN home league just cratered and I'm starting fresh with 3 of my friends. It's H2H FGPTS at the $50 tier, so first and second pay out. We're drafting from scratch this year and need 8 others to fill the league. Anyone interested?

Quick reminder, the draft is tomorrow night. See everyone then!
-
I still like the 48, but not a big deal either way. I don't always log in within 24 hours. Would at least want the opportunity to veto a trade if I preferred. It's about impossible to get a trade veto anyway, so no big deal either way.

Hey everyone, just to confirm, the draft is NOT tonight any longer. It's now scheduled for the 7th. ALSO, it looks like there is a new option where we can reduce the trade review period from 48 hours to 24 hours if we so choose. Would everyone rather leave it at 48 hours, or reduce it to 24 hours for the 2019 season?
