Thanks, everybody, for participating in the draft. Good luck on the season!
-
Okay, looks like we lost the owner of Lima Crazy. If anybody knows someone who'd like to join the league and will be active in it, let me know and I'll see if I can make them team owner. Unless I hear from someone soon, I'll mark the team as "abandoned" in a couple days.
-
Sorry for the multiple posts on this, but not sure how it looks on your end. Ottoneu wants the draft time in Eastern, so it should say 5pm now.

Okay. I'm ready to call it. 10 people have completed the doodle poll and unanimously agreed on Saturday, April 2nd from 4-6pm for the draft. I'll make it official. Thanks for voting.

Okay...here's the poll I set up based on what people are telling me. Follow the link and let's get this thing set up.

April 1st or 2nd, the 2 days before the season starts, would also be ok with me. Not sure if it matters to anyone else, but Easter is March 27th this year, so that weekend/ day in particular should be avoided unless it's really the only time everyone is available. Probably should just send out the doodle poll and see when everyone is available & go from there.
-
Morning on the 20th would also work for me. Anytime but after 7:30 pm Central.
-
I have another draft already scheduled for Sunday evening, March 20, so I would not be able to join if it were then. I could do it that afternoon or I could do it on the 26th anytime.
-
I'll be working the weekend of the 20th, so, if we decide to do it that weekend, I won't be free until after 5pm western time.
-
Weekend days for me. Preferably not the final weekend in March, so March 12th or March 19th would be my preference.
-
Weekends work best, I'm down for the weekend of the 20th and the 26th of March.

Sunday evenings are typically preferable for me, but I'm down with last 2 weeks of ST.

I'll second Boagerts's suggestion.
-
I'm all for a weekend evening during the last two weeks of March.
-
Hey. Seems like now would be a good time to start planning a draft date/time. Looks like the opener is Sunday, April 3rd. My preference is to do the draft sometime within the last two weeks of spring training. let me know your ideas and I'll set up a doodle poll to identify when most of us can participate. Thanks.

Reminder: The keeper deadline is approaching. Be sure to make any roster changes before the end of the month. After this, drops and trades are not allowed again until after the auction.

I'm always in support of improving the league and increasing competitive balance, but I'm not convinced allocation will be better.
-
Here is the RotoGraphs article that was published when they rolled out the allocation system: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/new-and-improved-ottoneu-arbitration-process/
The paragraph about why teams are given $25 to allocate is insightful, I think.
-
I agree. With both systems there are cost increases to be dealt but I prefer the vote-off because it both puts the player back on the market but also gives the former owner a bidding discount.

I kind of prefer the current arbitration system as it gets players back in the pool for everyone to have a chance at them and keeps the league a little more balanced imo. We voted to stick with the arbitration system prior to all the owner changes of the last 2 years so if we want to re-vote that's fine with me, but I'm fine with either system.
-
I'm in one other ottoneu league that used allocation (rather than vote-off) for the first time this year. Overall I think allocation is a bit more democratic: the guys who should be more expensive get more expensive and rebuilding teams can keep their roster intact. That being said, if allocation was in place, no way was Sano going to be $7. I like allocation a bit better but am fine with either system.
-
Either way you run the risk of decreasing the value of an asset. With vote off, you get the player back at market value minus $5. With allocations, you could potentially see the player's cost go up by as much as $33 (11 teams X max of $3 allocation). I have no experience with the allocations system. Those with experience: what's your preference? If there is discontent with the vote off system, let's vote on whether we should make the switch to allocations, eh?
