Yeah, you really just don't want to listen. And that's the problem. Read the slack. I suggest ed a rule. You said you wouldn't consider it unless there's a logical reason. I provided several. Including the fact the whole rule is questionable. Doesn't change the fact that I made a suggestion and you pulled some kind of power trip about you would consider, what you would out up for vote. Autocratic.
-
the complaining comment comes from all of your other responses… as i’ve said, discuss the rule changes, get a consensus on a better or more fair solution, and we’ll vote on it during arbitration 🤷🏼♂️
-
we discussed your suggestion, and this was your response after the initial suggestion you had: “Point is we don't need the rule. Not how effective it is. It hasn't mattered. People make just as many mistakes with it as without. The arguments I vhave made are valid whether you choose to accept them or not.”
Unless i’m misunderstanding the opening sentence, you stated you didn’t want the rule. And saying “the $2 penalty is stupid” is the same thing as suggesting we don’t need the rul

Nice try
Me - I propose we not push draft picks back to the end of the draft. And instead gave make up picks at the end of each round.
You - your recommendations have been “there shouldn’t be rules” in both cases - like i’ve said, come to the table with solutions or suggestions on how to make it fair or better. You're a complainer.
Me - Huh? Don't be a jerk, man.
-
Ok everyone, let's take a deep breath... I see valid points on both sides, let's have a nice productive discussion about this in the offseason and hopefully get to a place everyone feels comfortable with. Let's keep this fun, we don't need anyone rage-quitting during the season :)
-
I’ve stated my reasoning for having the rules you have issue with in the first place, and in both cases stated i’d consider changes if there was consensus on a better way to do it. you’re so focused on complaining and attacking AFTER you are not met with unbridled joy at your suggestions that you derail the entire conversation into a “this sucks” party. as i’ve said… discuss the rule changes, get a consensus on a better or more fair solution, and we’ll vote on it during arbitration 🤷🏼♂️
-
I also said....
P.s. I'm not suggesting we change now. Too late. But we should correct this joyless feature of our league for future generations. :)
-
Hey. I'd like to suggest we reconsider the harshness of the penalty for missing draft spot, choosing ineligible players, for future milb drafts. I get the idea to self regulate but In most cases these errors are realized like within 5 minutes. More than enough time to course correct. I propose we not push draft picks back to the end of the draft. And instead gave make up picks at the end of each round.
This is direct from the slack.

Do you really believe my view is that we shouldn't have rules. And that's what's I've proposed? Man, you just haven't been listening. Nobody has suggested getting rid of the rules. Just pay attention to what people are saying. Don't be blinded by this nirvana league you believe you've built. Here's what I proposed. Which you summarily ignored. And went on a tirade.
-
if you don’t want rules in your fantasy baseball league, there are lots of other ottoneu leagues - the whole reason i created this league to begin with was because i was so tired of a lack of competition in my other leagues, the same 4 teams steam-rolling the others, and i think i accomplished that given the number of different top 3 finishing teams. i’d rather see the league fold than to see it become what i set out to avoid, but i do think some changes would be fine if there’s consensus.
-
your recommendations have been “there shouldn’t be rules” in both cases - like i’ve said, come to the table with solutions or suggestions on how to make it fair or better. we aren’t changing a rule mid-season regardless - rule change discussions and votes are literally outlined in the charter and have been since day 1. we amended several rules since the inaugural season. if there’s a good consensus on suggested change, it’ll be up for vote during arbitration.
-
Thats horseshit. I had two issues with the rules. You've now ignored both, including recommendations I've made. This issue around calls ups hasn't even impacted me. Youre an autocratic commish is the bottomline. And some of the rules we agreed upon when the league was established are silly.
-
i would absolutely love to not have to call up prospects after 3 days, and voted as such during the polls when we discussed it. again, if people have suggestions or solutions, i’m all for it - so far, complaints are pretty limited to a very small minority. the charter doesn’t give founding members precedent. you want to lobby for rule changes? there’s a time and place for it. unfortunately, you do more complaining than trying to bridge your viewpoint to the majority who don’t complain.
-
Yeah. See its the tone of your message and general willingness to patronize a founding member of the league that tells me you have zero real interest in making changes. And perhaps why no one else says anything. Since it's not worth the time.
-
also- it feels like the same 2-3 managers have problems with the rules and a majority are silent, leading me to believe the majority is fine with the set up - i’m not going to turn the league upside down for 2-3 people that complain every time they don't follow the rules that have been in place multiple seasons… there are lots of other leagues out there if you’re that upset, or you could even create your own league with your own rules 🤷🏼♂️
-
we discussed it quite a bit after our initial season - the option i remember most was automatically promoting a milb$0 player after “rookie eligibility” expired (using the same criteria MLB Prospect List uses) if not promoted before that by the manager, but most wanted to keep it short-term after real-life promotion. nobody has even mentioned it since, so there has been no movement on a rule change front for that.
-
I haven't found there to be much interest in alternative opinions. If there's a genuine interest in making changes I'm sure we can get to something better. Prior ideas on similar topics were just killed unilaterally ...
-
So I’ve heard two votes for “stupid rule” but I see zero suggestions for a solution that covers the scenario where someone just doesn’t call someone up for any number of reasons.
-
The $2 rule for not bringing up soon enough? Yeah, stupid rule. It's like people are watching, waiting to see if you promote the player, and then if you don't call you out on it and penalize you. Pretty stupid. Right up there with the skipping your pick in milb draft.
-
i tried changing it during the off-season after our first year… the majority voted to leave it as is… take it up with them 🤷🏼♂️
