At 4:38p cdt, our matchup is 870.77 to 870.97.
-
I had Fiers in a lineup against Houston last week: -75.5 pts on 1 IP, 9 H, 5 HR. Brutal.
-
Sweets, it was a rough pitching day for you but your bats sure took off.
-
-67. That's gotta be a record.

Right- CLE hasn’t decided what they’re doing in Game 2, from what I’ve seen, so I’m hoping he comes on in relief.

That is correct, if you have a pitcher who is starting and you want to receive points for their start you have to pitch them in one of your SPs spots

Heads up on my lineup today: Im taking a risk in putting Carrasco in an RP slot, knowing that if he starts, I won’t get credit for his stats. I just verified that will be the case with OttoNeu.

Incredible matchup, Trout and Moneyball. Made for exciting 8th and 9th ABs for Devers/Encarnacion last night.
-
Damn it was close.. Fun Week Trout
-
Congrats to Trout and RR Jones. Continue to set your lineups for Monday. I assume the next round of matchups will appear eventually. You too Cricket.

Thanks! It all came together when it had to. I'm going to have to go out and get an Alcantara jersey. 😀
-
Ummm, have yourself a day, Ruppert Jones!
-
LOL. Ya, the Nats are hot. But Max Jr is a beast too
-
@Blade WTF? Fried vs. Washington! SMH
-
@ Ruppert: any reason you neglected to mention Max Fried?? 6 starts left, buddy, make 'em count;)
-
Nice bid on Haniger, Spud.
-
I debated long and hard about starting Reynaldo Lopez at Cleveland today before sitting him. Needless to say, I didn't make the right choice on that one.
-
That was not there last night or this morning when I posted
-
MoneyBall's scoring is fine. You guys get 9 starts and may use up to 5 slots per day.

Amid this flurry of messages, can we please take a moment to marvel at how unlikely it was for Trout Sniffers and Spudders to both blind bid exactly $30 on Sale?!
-
That would be worth reaching out to the OttoNeu support staff. help@ottoneu.com
-
Actually, it was the first two starts of the day. The late pitcher was not included. It had nothing to do with position in the SP slots.
-
FYI, I started three pitchers yesterday and it only took stat for the first 2. Opening up the extra SP spots did not change the rules.
-
Anyway, the amount of volatility on the final day was so insane that surely there are equal measures of heartbreak/delight. My hitting was probably never good enough to win a playoff series. But it feels like this season has been one long experiment, and next year we should all be better equipped to juggle the twin goals making the Top 3 and Top 6 without sacrificing points unnecessarily wasted on the bench
-
Yeah all season long it was the $128,000 question and I messaged back and forth will both commishes and some other players and never quite knew what was up. For a month or 2 I was all in on pitchers, then pulled back at the end to give myself a chance to have some IP left if I made the playoffs. But if playoff teams get 9/week regardless, then I really gave away 6th by benching my pitchers over the last week
-
I dont have an issue with switching to starts per week in the playoffs. And I understand stand what the rules say about the soft cap and the associated programming. I dont agree with the acceptance of it's ok to just go over a few innings because a computer cant handle it. And I'm not placing blame to anyone associated with this league.
-
https://community.ottoneu.com/t/points-playoffs-league/6112/2 I was wrong and wish I hite my game/inning limits before 09/02 but again we all had the ability to hit those limits.

I guess we’ll find out for sure about the playoff IP/GS rule next week. Or when Milo or Trout surpass 1500 IP yet this week. To Spudders, I’m not sure if it’s a change in OttoNeu for this year or not, but my understanding is that IP Max resets for the playoffs in favor of weekly GS limit, but GS for position players does not reset. Position players didn’t reset last year, I remember that, too.
-
As far as the playoffs go, the pitching limits are irrelevant as far as I know. Everyone gets 9 starts for the week and I mentioned this back in March. I could've chose anywhere from 7 to 10 starts. If we want to adjust this benchmark for next year we can.

The IP limit is a soft cap and is so in all Ottoneu formats and is explained in the rules. Soft cap means that on the day you reach 1500 IP your pitchers get to finish out the day. Pretty much anyone who reaches the 1500 limit usually gets a few extra innings. It is just the way it is programed, when any player (Pitchers or batters) starts the day you either get the points or don't. It isn't programed to stop recording points mid-game.

Gaussian Cricket, I don't think that's correct, last year in my H2H league I finished 3rd because I hit my innings limit too soon in the playoffs. I don't think the limits get reset in the playoffs but I could be wrong.

It is a flaw. The IP cap is implemented to put everyone on an equal playing field with innings to use. I'm aware of similar flaws in other platforms and have always adjusted scoring. Just because the system can't handle one of the rules doesn't mean you should be rewarded by scoring more because more opportunities for additional innings were available. And, if I wouldnt have searched community boards I wouldnt have realized the IP cap goes away after 9/1.
-
I wish that was made clear before. I could have played a lot more players. I was worried about not having a enough games/IP
-
Also, Trout Sniffers was correct--the IP Limit is for the regular season only; the playoffs don't consider the IP Limit at all. It's only a GS limit, 9 per matchup. If you have 8 starts prior to Sunday, you'll only have one SP spot available to roster a pitcher for the last day. https://community.ottoneu.com/t/summary-of-new-per-matchup-gs-cap-league-option-for-2019-season/4674/12
-
Is it a flaw in the rules? I've only played OttoNeu and ESPN leagues, and both of them have soft caps (in ESPN, with a 200 GS limit, you can get to 199 then start 9 SPs on the last day and finish with 208). A quick search of Yahoo Sports leagues shows the same rule, a soft cap where you get all stats for the day you go over. This doesn't seem like a glitch as much as a feature of fantasy baseball.
-
The innings limit is for the year, so if a team hit their inning limits already then they won't be able to score any pitching points in the playoffs which is a huge disadvantage. In addition, every team had the ability to pitch as many innings as they wanted before 09/02, but in the future if we plan on still doing the side pot then we might want to consider putting an innings limit on that and force it manually.

Then that's a flaw in the rules.
-
It’s a soft cap—your roster locks all pitchers on the day you go over, but all stats count for the remainder of the day for anyone in an active roster spot at that time. ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules IV.b.iv.
-
Does anyone know how the innings limit works? Based on searching community posts, I dont think they matter for the playoffs based on my research. My question is more for how it impacts the seeding and side pot because I might move up to 2 ( I didnt do the math). Since Gaussian Cricket is over by 8 innings.

I'm opened to the idea of moving Judge but would need to be for a significant offer

I have a very strong offer for Nola and I'm considering it, but before I accepted it I thought I'd let the league know before I move a significant player like him. If you're interested in him, please reach out asap!

Homer Bailey, good pickup: -50.90 points versus Houston. A one-man slump-breaker.
-
Reminder: The 3 teams with the most points through the last game on Sept. 1st will split the side pot ($900) 450/300/150, which I'll send out in the days that follow. Top 6 teams will participate in the playoffs following the Otto format and those winnings will be sent out by otto. Good luck the rest of the way.

Haniger Ruptured Testicle!!!!!!!!! That is the worst injury report I have ever heard!
-
FYI the latest trade is being revoked, as soon as Cup gets around to it. Besides the fact the deal went through without the knowledge of the serious injury (which in itself is the chance we all have to take), but the trade talks went through several versions of the offer. The one that got accepted was the wrong offer. Justin and I have both asked to have it voided. Carry on.
