I disagree that the incentives don’t work on anyone—I don’t expect to win this league this year but I’m not treating it like FCA either. Same maybe for Mikey (I will finish ahead of you Mikey!). But if others are going to ignore the spirit of the league it seems I’m wasting my time. Now how can I get 9th..,.
-
I agree that 1 thing we wanted to do was avoid the $800 teams, and the cap obviously does that. But—just like in real baseball—the problem isn’t (just) teams trying to win. So the complicated set of incentives/penalties for tanking. I agree with the obvious statement that it’s not effective.
-
I don't think our other incentives are very meaningful. At least they don't seem to affect anyone's behavior except for the annual scrum for 9th.
-
The cap can't really prevent teams from selling, because there are always multiple buyers. We did discuss a floor, but if I recall correctly, Mikey is right. We set up a structure to prevent $800 payroll while still allowing teams to rebuild as they see fit.
-
I think we need a salary floor along with the cap.
-
I think we were trying to keep more teams competing. That’s why there are incentives for finishing midpack, and a penalty for finishing last. The salary cap is a (bad, favored by the small-market teams) way to prevent teams from selling off.
-
Again I disagree. I wanted to eliminate the ability to buy a championship. While I agree we haven’t eliminated it, I think we’ve reduced it. I’d still like to try having no or extremely limited loans.
-
Tanking. That’s what we wanted to avoid.
-
I don’t think I agree. The top teams in FCA look to have about twice the amount of incoming loans. What measure are you looking at?
-
It seems like the incentive/penalty structure here isn’t really working.
-
Bregman and loan available for a player i can keep, hes hot finally
-
$10 from Adam brings us to $95 carryover for 2024
-
And just like that HENRY is in 1st
-
Yeah, it has been fun (all of June actually—I don’t think I’d start anyone against the Braves right now), though today after the 1st everyone seemed to just want to get out of there before the thunderstorms arrive. If it’s like my house at the park they just made it.
-
If I were contending I would worry about matchups more. At this point I’m just throwing guys in the lineup and letting it ride. Bad scouting today. God the Braves are annihilating the Marlins this series. Fun to watch.
-
Kevin, very surprised to see you started Eury against the Braves on a 96-feels-like-102 afternoon in Atlanta. HR, HR, single, single, double, double, groundout, double. I’ll probably pay for starting Charlie too.
-
I think I owe $10 on that last trade.
-
Nice outing for Jose Soriano today , 5 k in two innings 21 points .
-
Not nice outing for Joe Ryan today
-
I have the following players I'd like to move to a contender, not expecting the moon, just someone to keep for next year . 15$ injured OF that haven't had a good year for two years are not wanted . : Suzuki, Bregman, Kopech, Sewald, Fairbanks, Jansen
-
I hate having player not move literally at the T minus 5 minute mark.
-
I got on to set my lineups at 10:05am and found players locked in for a 10:10am game?! WTF?!
-
Watching Elly hit for the cycle. Trying to remember who I got for him. Mookie? Seems…fair.
-
That's for sure. I was hoping nobody I was contending against was rostering him. Nice point burst.
-
Nice outing for Joe Ryan today
-
$1 received from Henry for a current total of $85 carryover for 2024
-
Trade with Pat puts me over the cap to $426. Will send a $1 your way, Mikey.
-
$72 received from Hook for a current total of $84 carryover for 2024
-
No matter what platoon utility infielder Nolan Gorman accomplishes the rest of his career, it’ll pale in comparison to what he did for Hook in both leagues this year
-
One trade down, still have Bregman, Suzuki, Drury,Seewald , Jansen to sell
-
Nice trade.
-
$72 sent to Mikey.
-
Looking for high upside players
-
I don't have enough pitching to make it to a money slot....hit me up for offers , I'm done for '23
-
I just realized my posting regarding the previous trade didn’t go through (I had an iffy internet connection). I received Jeremy’s $12 for a current total of $12 carryover for 2024.
-
Any cap penalties with that last trade?
-
Pratto*
-
Prato putting up good numbers and with OF eligible too, surprised he was on fa
-
Jorge Polanco can’t stay on the field and I have plenty of middle depth since I had to trade for so much of it early on. Someone send me an arm for him
-
A 6.4 point day when I had a reasonably full lineup and a good pitcher starting. Ugh
-
If the season ended this morning, I believe tied teams split prize money.
-
Anyone know what the tiebreaker is in FGPTs?
-
Tax paid
-
Thanks, Mikey. Didn't mean to ask for a fix. Just was complaining.
-
Thanks -- I just cut Hentges to make up for my roster legal. I'm happy with taking my lumps on this, so I'll just cut Cabrera again and move forward. Hopefully someone acquires my cuts and I have a few bucks.
-
I restored Cabrera to your roster for $1. Let me know if this isn’t what you wanted or if I also need to reduce a cap penalty (I’m not sure if restoring him removed the penalty)
-
Crud. I screwed up. Cut a $1 player which made my roster illegal which meant I to cut, at a minimum, a $4 player.
-
it looks like our rules and restraints might ne working, as only 300 points separate 1st and 8th. This may be the superior of the two leagues
-
Kepler and Rendon just joined Eloy/Seager/Urias/Altuve/carpenter/Meadows on my DL, so I don’t know if I can keep up with games played without trading a hurt guy or 2
-
