If it helps at all for those who missed draft part 2, when I've previously missed an ottoneu draft, I started paying much closer attention to prospects, especially the ones towards the back end of the top 100. I found a lot of really good deals on keepers, and used a lot of them to get better players in trades for the teams throwing in the towel when they're out of the race.
-
I can agree to the better deals on preseason trades to the 3 that missed the draft as well. Especially for the 2 who may need to open up some cap space.
-
I'll commit to "until the season starts" as well. I'll also be happy to give better deals in pre-season trades with the guys who missed the 2nd portion. I've been getting shut out on trades so far, and I wouldn't want that avenue closed to those with cap space.

Yeah, you may have missed the discussion yesterday, but that's what we ended up agreeing to. (at least, those that were here for it) They've got through Sunday before the rest of the folks can hop in. However, we may need to extend it if they all end up splitting the players between them. I'll check back in ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD later this week to make sure everyone has had their (somewhat) fair go at it.
-
Just an FYI - I've made it a personal rule that I am NOT bidding on any auctions set by the folks that missed the 2nd portion of the draft until after the season starts. It may be a good rule for others to follow.

Yeah, I'm not going through another 6 hours of drafting. Sorry. 9 of 12 people were able to make it in time just fine. I suppose I could have been more clear, but I basically just left it at "Let's get together tomorrow to set a time." I've entirely missed ottoneu drafts before and I've never finished lower than 5th in the standings. There are so many ways you can go in dynasty leagues like this. Missing the draft may suck, but you're not dead.
-
Having said that, it also wouldn't be impossible to resolve equitably without a true redraft. But I will leave any proposed solution to the commissioner.

What was talked about at the end of round 1 was that we would talk about when round 2 was going to be yesterday. We did. By default, that conversation would have gone out to everyone. I think both parties are responsible, and that the impact is only significant for "mom jeans".

You've also got 3 teams that missed out on over 200 players, which definitely puts them at a disadvantage going in.
-
My understanding is that we're now blind bidding against each other for what will likely be many of the same players with a 48 hr wait period to see how many spots we need to wait and repeat that for. Agree that it would have been better to get some buy-in on when the 2nd round was, especially since that was what was talked about at the end of round 1.
-
I'm not sure I see the massive impact of spending your extra $21 later with less competition and more time versus earlier with more competition and less time. I'm not in for extra money, so I'm not trying to convince you in that regard. But I don't get it.

FWIW, I have commished many leauges across different fantasy sports, and I would never consider starting (or re-starting) a draft without at the very least an email blast, and preferably confirmation from all members that they can make it. Since our $20 entry fee essentially get's eaten by Fangraphs and my money isn't on the line - I won't sweat it too much. But if this were a true money league I would be livid and asking for a redraft.
-
I turned off auto messages because I was getting too many emails and figured the important stuff would be emailed. I guess there are some pros to picking now, but I for sure had guys like Gordon, Bradley, Franco, Hererra, Fried, Moustakas etc.in my sights that went cheap and I for sure would have bid on. I this also makes me withdraw my hat from the extra $30 club. I'm still gonna try to kick some ass though :)
-
Also, do you not get auto-emailed when people post messages? I do.

The advantage there (in my mind) is that you basically get all the time you want to sit and think about what your team needs without much fear of being gouged by others.

Philly Braves, you get something else instead. A 5 day spending spree! The draft's over, but you can nominate players for 48-hour auction, and only you and the other two guys with roster spots can bid.

Kinda bummed that there wasn't en email about the draft re-opening last night. I was not able to check the message board yesterday, and figured any large decisions like the draft re-opening would be emailed out. Kinda seems like I'm part of the crew left picking from the scraps now (not that my budget would allow for much more anyway). I'm available to draft tonight if needed.
-
If you have an open trade proposal, it should show up at the top of this league homepage. If it gets rejected or whatever, you can click the "trade" button button at the top of the page, then go to "Trade Status and History" and it should be there.
-
A note for everyone: the trade I just proposed didn't show up the way I expected it to, in the pending trades area. Not sure exactly why. So don't spam your trades like I did, thinking it wasn't going through.

Alright, figured it out. Draft is officially closed.
-
It says "in-progress" but technically it's paused. I'm not exactly sure how to "end" the draft. Let me poke around a bit.
-
Hey commish, just pointing out you haven't yet ended the draft, so the three teams can't get to work. Don't know if you were waiting for someone else's agreement to the bargain.

Also on this topic! Players on the 60-day IL (that's gonna take some getting used to) will count towards your salary cap, but will not occupy a roster spot. Guys on the 10-day will count towards both. So if you have the money to stash a guy that's on the 60-day but you don't have a roster spot, you can still add them. You'll just need to make a cut once the player is activated. (assuming your roster was already at or above 40 players)
-
re: Bartolo. That's strictly for your own planning. Makes no difference whether they're set to "minors" or "bench". Once the season actually starts, you will have a "Lineups" page AND a "Roster Organizer" page like we have now. One is there for you to switch out who you actually want to play/sit, and one is there just to help you take different looks at your roster.
-
Also, I sent out an email to the league back in December addressing some of the questions I saw posed here and during the draft chat. I'll send it out again for you guys to read through and refresh on the weirder/more nuanced stuff relating to the format.
-
Alright, so Philly, Mom Jeans, and Punny - you have through this Sunday (3/3) to fill your rosters via auction. You can continue beyond that, but the rest of the league will be able to jump in and make bids beyond that day. Auctions take 48 hours.
-
Kinda gives us an idea of how it works, so I like it. While I've got questions-- is there any benefit to having minor leaguers in "Minor League" vs. just the bench? Or is that just for organization purposes. Definitely trying to manipulate service time :)

That will give a reasonable deadline for those three teams to finish their rosters, and give the rest of us the opportunity to make pre-season trades.

Works for me if that sounds good to everyone else. Just prepare for a very clogged auction list!
-
I agree, and think everyone else will agree, to not bid on FAs until next Sunday, so that those three can nominate and bid to their hearts' content. That applies even if I free up a roster spot in a trade.

Wow, that post said everything I wanted to say in EXACTLY the 500 character limit. How satisfying. Though not having a period at the end does irk me a bit.
-
There is kind of a difference, but that may be the way to go as long as we set some ground rules. They could each nominate a bunch of players for auction, but it would be a blind auction as opposed to seeing the bids rise incrementally as you would in the draft. The benefit there is that the best players may go for more than a dollar, but you don't really know if you're getting the player until the auction ends. And all the people with full rosters would need to not bid on the guys they nominate
-
Is there really a difference between opening the draft again and allowing the normal FA claiming process to take place post-draft?

I should be able to do it tomorrow evening. Any time after about 6pm central.
-
So Philly Braves, Mom Jeans, and Punny still have 20+ roster spots to fill. Can you guys let me know when you're able to do that so I can re-open the draft and you guys can take your picks?

So I can probably end up, if not necessarily "doing" 6:30, at least being around-ish. Not that that changes anyone's plans, but I was having a horrendous workday that suggested working all night and at least right now it's cleared up some.

As is mine. And as I continue to add to it, I still wonder why I paid 7 dollars for a AAA 1B
-
Also, it appears my watchlist is still intact from last night when I open up the draft room.
-
How about this: I'll open up the draft around 6:30 for those that can make it early, then leave it open until everyone is done. Just make sure that when you're done, you click the "done with draft" thingy so that we're not wasting 30 seconds whenever it's your turn to nominate. Then I can just close up the draft when I get into work tomorrow AM around 8-8:30.
