(Or Suzuki, I guess. One extra player in any case.)
-
FYI, Kyle, looks like your roster is currently illegal; you'll need to drop someone to account for Clayton Richard.
-
Thanks for the answer that explains it and makes sense appreciate it.
-
Astoria, the team that drops a player cannot bid on him for 30 days following the drop. If after 30 days said player is a free agent, you are allowed to bid on him for the minimum. In this example the min bid would be $30. If you won him for $30 and then dropped him again...the cap hit would then be $15. So yes, the penalty would go down...but you have to wait. I hope that explains it
-
Hoping someone who has played before can answer this. Say you have player X signed at $60. You cut him, the min he would go for is $30, so any team with less than $30 could not bid on him unless they cut players to get to $30. Can the team that cut player X big on the player they cut therefore getting him at a lower salary of course they will still be on the hook for the other half but therefore lowering his keeper value. Just curious about this.

Brian: Stats started counting as of Friday, the first games after the draft. I see that you've got your lineups set already, but just an FYI. James: I see that several owners received credit for 2 catcher starts yesterday, so my reading of the rules was more "you don't get 324 GS for catcher" rather than "only one catcher's stats count at a time". You could check the community boards to confirm, but if you do an update would be appreciated. Thanks!
-
Anyone know when our league will start playing I am assuming it will be week 2 which will be the following Monday from this? I have a lot of depth interested in prospects
-
How does the two-catcher lineup work? The game descriptions keep saying the two slots are just for platooning, not actually scoring 2 catchers. Does the top slot get scored unless he doesn't play, in which case it goes to the second?
-

We did it! Congrats to everyone and best of luck this season. Don't forget to set your lineups.
-
Hey, Mark, any luck with the connection? We're getting close to the $1-2 rounds, so if you can load a bunch of folks on your watchlist the bulk of the work would be nominating at this point.
-
Sure thing -- thanks for the update, Rich.
-
I am on my way home from my daughter softball practice. Pulling in the driveway in five minutes. Iβll be online by 805 if you can wait a couple minutes
-
Also, I did some quick math and it looks like if we pick up the pace a bit (e.g. 30-40 seconds per pick), we should definitely be able to wrap everything up in 3-4 hours tomorrow. Even if we don't, we'll hopefully get close enough that we can close the draft, start the season and finish filling up our $1 picks via waiver. Catch y'all tomorrow!
-
Yep! Second draft session is set for 8 PM ET tomorrow, 3/29. Be there or be square.
-
I thought we were all set for tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8 ET. RJ was the only person to object during the draft, and it sounds like he can shuffle his schedule. Brice, confirm?
-
Where are we at for the rest of the draft?
-
Anything but Wednesday works for me. At this point I am already preparing myself to be doing 2 auctions at the same time so whatever is fine.
-
Would Thursday around 8 work? Next Friday and Saturday are out for me - it's the first two nights of passover, which means family seders, prohibitions on electronics, AND bad wi-fi at my in-laws'. We'll be driving back during the day on Easter Sunday, but I could do that evening around 8 again if nobody else has family stuff that late. Tuesday the 3rd is the only day the next week that would be a possible conflict (still TBD).
-
No worries! Sounds like we might have to finish this next weekend, then, so keep that generally open if y'all can and we can figure it out during tomorrow's draft session.
-
Sorry but Tuesday night to finish does not work for me. Thought Weds. was the original date listed for the 2nd half of the draft. Would not be opposed to making the start time earlier tomorrow if that helps everyone draft as much as possible thanks
-
Absolutely Wednesday will not work for me. I umpire and have a DH that day that will not be over until 9PM central. I have Sunday-Tuesday available.
-
Thanks, everyone! Hope y'all are getting excited for tomorrow's draft. As Mark mentioned, it's incredibly unlikely that we'll get through all, or even most, of the draft tomorrow night, but it sounds like most of us would be free to wrap this up (or get close enough, at least) on Wednesday, which would be great for getting things set before Opening Day. If Wednesday at, say, 8 PM ET absolutely wouldn't work for anyone (it's not ideal for me, but I'll live), let us know. Thanks!

Hi all, I'm James and I'm in New Hampshire about 70 miles north of Jim. That won't be confusing at all, I promise. I've been playing yahoo/ESPN leagues for 15 years. Saying that out loud just freaked me out for a second because I haven't gotten used to being old enough to have done ANYTHING for fifteen years. Looking forward to kicking things off Sunday.
-
Seems like we got a great bunch here. Just an FYI, I am actually blind so when you lose to me expect to hear dude, you just got beat by a blind guy!
-
Kyle here. This is my 3rd Ottoneu league this season as I did one last year and really enjoyed it over all other Fantasy Baseball leagues I've done in the past. I personally enjoy the 40 man rosters and really building teams for the now or the future based on what type of season I'm having. Unfortunately our Commish from last year disbanded the league so I'm starting over this year. Sunday is fine with me as I have my other Ottoneu drafts on Friday and Monday.
-
Hello from across the pond! My top mate Brice talked me into giving up footy for basey for a year (easier to do when our lads out in Leicester are back in the middle of the table), so here I am...no, I'm another American, actually representing the other Cambridge, the one out by Boston. And while I do enjoy the occasional Premier League game, I am far more of a baseball fan and have been doing fantasy for a while, but looking forward to my first Ottoneu experience!
-
Hi, I'm Alex. I know Jim, so I'm also an unknown. I've played fantasy baseball for I'd 6 or 7 years with varying success. I've never played on here before, nor really in this format so expect lots of blunders and to take advantage of me. Wait that sounds bad... Also, Sunday works best for me. Saturday I will most likely out.
-
I'm RJ. I'm Canadian, and only recently realized this was not a hockey league. Thus, I will take players that remind me of the 1992 and 1993 MLB seasons which were clearly the best seasons in the history of the sport. Any catchers with the last name Borders? Bidding $700 on him.
P.S. Everything I say here is a work. Looking forward to the first part of the draft Sunday night, and hoping we can get as much done as possible. If we have to finish it later in the week, Wednesday would be ideal.
-
Hi, I'm Greg. I've been playing fantasy baseball for 5 or 6 years, but I'm an Ottoneu rookie. Sunday night works for me for the 1st part of the draft. Looking forward to it!
-
But you can stop the draft midway and finish it up at a later time. So there will always be that option. Also, you do not have to draft a full roster. You need to be able to fill a starting lineup and have at least $1 for each open spot. So that way if you don't want to go through the tedious endgame, you can auction off players after the draft is over.
-
Hey everyone, my name is Mark and I am looking forward to talking some baseball with everyone and I hope we have a nice solid group for years to come. I have one year of experience in Ottoneu, if you prefer to play in keeper/dynasty formats, then I think you will like this style. As for the draft, I am fine with Sunday evening. Saturday is out for me as I will be out of town. Also be aware that these drafts take a long time...so three hours might not be enough (sorry)
