To quote Baldwin in Glengarry: I'd wish you all good luck, but you wouldn't know what to do with it if you got it.
-
Draft has OFFICIALLY concluded and now all auctions and trades have been opened up.
Reminder there is a 2-game series in Korea on March 20-21 featuring the LA Dodgers and San Diego Padres, so make sure you have your lineups set for that series.
The rest of teams will have Opening Day on March 28.
Good luck in 2024!
-
Okay. I'm going to end the last few auctions, upload players to Ottoneu, and unlock rosters. I'll send another note when that's complete.
-
Yea

14 and Coke are you both done?
-
Assuming no challengers for Raley, I’m done. Looks like the auction is over.
-
If no one objects, tomorrow morning I can shift it to 18 hours with a 9 hour extension. I will also bump everyone to four nominations. I know the waiting can be a bit interminable on those $1 and $2 guys, but we're making great progress on filling rosters.
-
I am liking the 24 hours personally, but could be okay with 16, but agree that I think that any less would be too short. Perhaps the 12 hour "extension" could be lessened, since we all have time to put in blind bids before? New to this, but I am happy with the way it is working myself.
-
12 opens the door to overnights that potentially never get seen. 16-18 minimum.
-
Agree...I would even say 12 hours.

Any chance we can speed up the clock? Maybe from 24 to 16? Seems like getting to point where less back and forth is happening
-
Weird. Couchmanagers has two Logan O'Hoppes. Don't try to auction the one that's available, shows as LAA MiLB.
-
Hey all. O'Hoppe is already rostered so I'm cancelling his current auction and adding him to the correct roster.
-
Make sure to keep up with those nominations so we can keep wrap the auction up in timely fashion. Thank you!
-
Thanks for catching that!
-
Commish, looks like you missed Springer to DGreen for $21 in the last batch.
-
Day one is wrapping up! I've given everyone an additional nomination. Please make use of them. I will begin adding players to rosters in Ottoneu. I find that helpful. Thanks everyone! I think so far so good.
-
Draft has started. Please head over to Couchmanagers when able and nominate your players! Good luck and have fun!!
-
Everything is locked until draft concludes

are we allowed to make more cuts before the draft ?
-
Thanks to all that have already joined the CouchManagers draft. If you haven’t, please do so ASAP so I can upload rosters for y’all to review. Cheers.
-
Couchmanagers site set up. Please join here - https://www.couchmanagers.com/auctions/index.php?auction_id=770. Claim a spot and enter "Ball800" when prompted for password.
Once everyone is joined I can upload rosters.
-
Just to let you know that I won't be drafting at March 1st auction (no money no candy) Have a good draft you all
-
Just an fyi that The Dream is no more. Same owner, new name. Now back to sellin’ those whitewalls.
-
Thanks everyone for the productive discussion! We can tweak the settings to quicken the pace a bit, while still giving plenty of time to respond to being outbid and other considerations. I think it's totally possible to start on 3/1 and wrap by 3/8 with a few different parameters from last year.
-
I think having a faster pace would be fine if the website allows for such customization

If we do a 3/1 start, can we start with 3 noms a piece or tighten up the clock a bit? Perhaps an 18hr rather than 24?
-
I think the blessing and curse with a slow draft is that its slow so people have the flexibility to work around their obligations but also the curse is it spans a long time which can create more potential conflicts. We are probably not going to find a 7-10 day window where no one has a conflict for 1 or more days. I personally like the 3/1 draft date given the timing related to the baseball season. I have a block for 2/28 and 2/29 where it would be very difficult to draft.

All makes sense just wanted to understand where folks stood. So then 2/26 it is commish

Exactly, won't make a huge difference at the end of the season
-
My 2 cents I’d rather not go through an entire season in a cumulative points league with cumulative points that aren’t necessarily accurate.
-
I'd also agree to a gentlepersons agreement that if it DOES matter we can assess at the end of the year, but the odds of that are slim to none.

Agree, it's only two games, odds are thin for injuries and stats from those games souldn't make a big difference on the year long season stats
-
As far as I know, points can only be gained if lineups are set; commish can’t retroactively just add points at will. Lineups can’t be set on Ottoneu until draft is marked complete. So either the draft is done before Korea to count them games or they’re skipped. Dream makes the most relevant point though, injury potential really isn’t a reason to delay drafting as we all have rostered players carrying that risk.
-
Dibs on whale vaginas as my new team name
-
Nope not excluding. Finding potential ways to do draft later and still have those points be applied for guys like Freeman, etc. And fair point on injuries just wanting to see if any other options. If not, I am fine doing draft earlier as 14 suggested

Is the 20/21 question about excluding them all together? I would imagine folks with Whale Vaginas or Dodgers on their rosters want those games. I know I'd want 2 certain Freeman games over avoiding a hypothetical.
I'll work with whatever is decided but injuries/+ are kinda inevitable and we made keeper decisions with that risk. Just sayin'. It's not like I get a refund on Snell if he doesn't get signed for Opening Day.
-
Commish - can we apply stats from those games to players who get drafted? or could we speed up the draft a bit? If we start the 15th we should be able to make a lot of moves by the 20th - realize we may go through that but feel like two games won't affect how people draft (unless injuries happen haha). Again my thought is more injury related but i am fine if rest of league doesn't care as much

Personally, I have a block from the 8-14th that I really don’t have a capacity to draft within; thus my request to finish by the 8th. If we choose to pass on Korea games I have no problem starting somewhere between 15-17th to be set for official opening day on the 28th.
-
I guess the real question is…do we care about the Korea games on 20/21 or do we skip them?
-
I’d prefer we start a bit later. Injuries can happen in spring training that affect who and how we’d draft. But if 14 and others have hard dates set and can’t draft past them then no objection

I requested that we wrap by the 8th. Took 9 days last year (3/13-3/22). Could we potentially start 2/26?
-
Also, I have updated the trade waiting period to 24hrs.
-
Slow Auction Timing - I'm going to propose that we start this year's auction on Friday, March 1. Last year it took us about a week to complete, although I suspect we might be a little quicker this year. This timing allows us to see a couple weeks of Spring Training before we begin, but wraps up around the 8th, which I know someone requested. Let me know if you have any feeling/thoughts about that timing. Thanks!
-
Howdy All. We're full up! We have new managers for the two vacant squads. I'll work with them to get all their cuts made and we'll be on our way to the auction. More on that soon!
-
Yea sounds good to me.

That’s editable?!?!?! Passionate support for 24 from the gregori’i.
-
Would support 24
-
I’d be in favor of 24 hrs. My other leagues mostly used that timing.
